    Great video,thank you ❤it… As an English “car guy”, I love learning about how you Americans do things…. I’m working on persuading my long suffering better half that we need a VTEC (or Hayabusa etc) powered Mini… another short wheelbase, RWD sleeper which is how I ended up seeing this. Brilliant thing, I’ve never seen one, even online, before today, and with the rarity and eccentricity of concept- you knew Jay would own one!
    Cheers 🍻 Dennis

    I like rebuilding the engine myself then getting a crate engine. I helped my brother with his 37 Pontiac. we put a small block crate,360 HP in it. took us 4 days. Now I have to be reminded. we did that. I'm building a kit car and rebuilding the engine myself. all but the machining of cores . It is the first Ford small block I have done. But I enjoy the task. . so I am redoing the rear end and the trany to. The car . from bumper to bumper. and LOVing it.

    The shos... lots of people talk about them. Very few people recognize them. I daily drive one and only occasionally someone knows what it is. I have seven total and all three generations from the 3.0 v6 to the 3.2 automatic and the 3.4 v8. I'm surprised jay never says anything about this being built and designed by yamaha. The shogun was short lived and they only built seven because they couldn't buy engines direct from ford. All seven were built by cutting up a new festiva, and a new taurus sho. Which obviously was expensive. I also had a 68 ford galaxie 390 fastback For my first car And a 66. That's something I noticed they said that's an aluminum roush fe block, maybe it's sound quality but the ford fe block has a distinct sound and I didn't hear it. Beautiful cars love to see them.

    If I had more money I’d find a good used Festiva, then find another one as a donor car then rip out the drive train from the donor car and fit it in the rear of the first car making it a twin engine Festiva. When I would do it I’d have a mini steering wheel for the rear tires so I could do 12’ turning circle u-turns. Except I’m not sure where I’d put the gas tank.

  • @Maples01
    @Maples01 7 лет назад

    I'd love a crate engine for my classic van, 302 is as big as you can fit, and I don't want bigger, I just need something with enough power to tow and handle the weight of the van but alas I don't have the cash, 1973 was when the engine performance dropped due to emissions. Adding the wheelchair lift put it off balance, where I readjusted it with a custom interior, oak cabinet and bed, I can only dream of a performance car because getting in/out of it is just too much for me now. I tried to get a friends 68 Galaxy once, was a convertible with the 390 and automatic transmission, they are beautiful cars.

    • @Maples01
      @Maples01 7 лет назад

      I wish I could buy one, but no money, I'm struggling to get out of debt so I can get the transmission rebuilt, it's slow to engage in gear when cold, been that way for a few years, so I'll not be surprised when it's finally immobile.

    When I watch Jay's video's a thought comes to mind, now that he's in his late 60's almost 70!, What excites him each and every day? I know he has a deep passion for cars and working on them, etc.... Does he ever ask himself what more is there..? I can only imagine when he has passed away and his collection is opened to the public as a "museum"/tribute to Jay what will we see in the garage, an Animatronic Jay Leno, telling jokes...! He certainly may have the last laugh :) But you can't take any of it when you've died... The way I see it is he's "preserving" automotive history and I applaud him for doing that. Because there may be a day when gasoline powered cars, or for that matter all cars will be banned!!! then the museum will be termed "The futility of the auto"... And the clones will be viewing the museum "virtually"... it will be empty because every one will visit the garage by VR...

    I owned a 1990 Ford FESTIVA.......Jeez, no respect, even from these car fanatics, when it comes to calling a car by it's proper name...The FIESTA was a few years earlier, early 80s....the Festiva was made from 1988 to1993....and was a car that used parts bought from MAZDA, but put together in Korea, and sold by Ford in the USA....I paid $7 grand for my 1990 Festiva...it had a 1.3ci 4cylinder engine--65hp, 5sp transmission...I put close to 100,000 miles on that little econobox, and never got less than 43mpg...no issues at all!...but it had no airbags, and I slowly realized that if I ever got nailed by an SUV or a truck, I would be history....In short, the FESTIVA never got the respect that it deserved--as these two gearheads show us by not even knowing for sure what the name of the car was!

      Actually it's not this is a 3.0 Cast iron block. yamaha designed and built the engine based on a vulcan v6. Ford cast the block shipped it to yamaha who built and assembled the Engine. The engine you're speaking of is the sho 3.4 aluminum block V8 which ford cast using a cosworth Process, yamaha did design and build the heads and intake on that engine which was based on the duratech v6 which was designed by Porsche, cosworth and ford Ended up with it. A v12 variation of the duratech engine also ended up in the aston martin db7.

      bud morse I’ll always remember the SHO Taurus that Tim Allen had in the Santa Claus. It was the first Taurus I remember seeing and I thought it looked really cool. (I’ve always hated fords; any after 1969) and when I saw others I was like “it looks like shit” not realizing it was a special edition.

    Even the new Taurus S.H.O is faster yes it has more power and torque and it's AWD but it's heavier because it's a sedan and it's got two turbos in that 3.5 EcoBoost.

      Tobirama Senju and you forgot its gay. Theses 4 and 6 cylinder eco boost bullshit. Who gives a shit if it’s faster. 9 out of 10 people don’t race. Who cares if it’s got a turbo. You’re forgetting to most important part. It sounds exactly what it is. Sounds like shit. Why in the world would someone want something that doesn’t sound good. People are like “i bought the new f150 pickup, it’s an eco boost..it’s faster” yeah and who are you racing? I’d take a nice sounding symphony than a pussyhair 6 cylinder...because it’s a second and a half faster.
