What Natsu is experiencing here is victim's guilt. As a victim of abuse, he rightfully holds anger, hatred, and resentment towards his abuser. The problem is that his abuser technically doesn't exist anymore (old Endeavor), leaving Natsu with all the anger, hatred, and resentment with nowhere to direct that towards. In conjunction with that, the rest of the family appears to be warming up to Endeavor's efforts to be a better person, which makes Natsu feel like shit having to hate someone like that, hence "I'm not as kind as Shoto". Endeavor realizes this and that's why he hesitated because he didn't want to compound that problem by making Natsu feel like he owes Endeavor one for saving him.
The reason Endeavour froze up was because he thought that if he saved Natsuo, Natsuo may feel a bit like 'survivors guilt' and feel like he has to forgive Endeavour because he was saved which isn't fair
I like to imagine the author trying to come up with Ending's quirk, only to look out his car's window, see the traffic lines pass by, and exclaim "THAT'S IT!!"
I like that in a show watched by children, they teach the lesson that it's up to victim of abuse to forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something the abuser deserves just because they feel regretful
Yeah but in the anime they cut out alot of the abuse in the manga you see Endeavour actually hit Rei and Rei pouring boiling water onto Shouto then using her ice making it worse and then Shouto said to Endeavour "You beat my quirk into me"but they changed it in the anime maybe because kids watch it?
The arc and development of Endeavor as a character is outstanding. He seemed so one note when we first met him way back at the Sports Festival, but to see his journey, and the journey of the whole hellish Todoroki family is so well done. Reading ahead in the manga, I know a lot more is coming, but we've gotten such good shit up to this point!
Lesson of the day: Only a victim can forgive an aggressor. Doesn’t matter how soon or how late. But it’s not our call to make if it’s deserved. Narratively yes, I think Endeavor will be forgiven. But obviously this will be a LONG road. This show is geared for the long haul. So be prepared. This story hits close to home. And it’s clear they won’t abandon that for a while longer.
@Derek Sorenson ehhhhh. Can’t say I fully agree, but I imagine there’s a lot of cases where people just aren’t believed, or not heard, or don’t speak, and just a bunch of other shitty situations. It’s what makes this subject so touchy. And it’s what sets Endeavor apart. An aggressor RARELY makes such an effort to truly atone. Or at least from my knowledge of it. And that’s why I’m so fascinated by this story.
@Derek Sorenson Even with a female, Shoto never blamed his mom for what happened. In the end that is an issue that needed to be resolved between them. And he forgave her.
@Derek Sorenson I don't think you have the right context here....Shoto never blamed his mom so she technically never needed forgiveness from him, cause in his eyes...she didn't do anything wrong. But either way, the comment is right. No matter what gender, forgiveness is a matter of the victim
@Derek Sorenson Just realized you were talking about Rei. That COMPLETELY blew over my head. But I think someone covered what needed to be said anyways.
I really think Horikoshi did some amazing work on how to frame what could be understood as a redemption arc - but I frankly consider it more of a "responsibility acceptance" arc. Endeavor hasn't been redeemed, and he himself knows and acknowledges that. He's just trying to do better from here on. He accepts never being forgiven or having this unfair feel of "clean sheet" that often Shonen can provide and honestly feel a little disrespectful. To me MHA found the best answer to this question. Whenever you talk about an abuser having redemption, the focus is always on the reality and struggles of the abuser, while ignoring the ones from the abused. As long as the abuser goes through their arc, it is expected from the abused to go along with it. And THAT'S why most often that's perceived to be offensive. How Horikoshi frames this situation is different in this episode. While surely Enji NEEDS to do his part, Deku shows what truly matters: Shoto. If SHOTO forgives Enji, it will not be because of Enji's redemption arc, but because of SHOTO'S own kindness and loveable nature. This is not Enji's struggle. This is SHOTO'S, and all of his family's. They are the ones who may or may not forgive Enji, by their own volition regardless of Enji's arc (although surely needing some initial REAL change from him). It's not about the abuser. It's about the abused. First hori framed the situation on the victims perspective, and now this. He's definitely a sensible and mature writer and man.
Yeah, worst night ever. Cool as heck episode though!- Also, in terms of how I'm feeling about Endeavor, especially now in retrospect, I can't say a lot has changed. Him buying that house was great, but aside from that, I can't really say he's done much beyond the bare minimum. Maybe I'm just being picky, but it really does all feel like too little too late in a lot of ways. Like, after everything he's done and how long it's been, it'll probably take a lifetime's worth of atonement before I start to look at him any differently.
Endeavor and Hawks are my top 2 MHA characters, and actually two of my favorite characters in anime. I started MHA hating Endeavor and by this point in the anime, and where we are at in the manga right now, he is my absolute favorite and I love him. Its the growth done right that made me do a complete 180. And then, there's Hawks, who I can't actually talk much about without spoiling, the only thing I can say is he is the one person who loves and believes in Endeavor more than anyone else. I do believe Endeavor has depression, anxiety, and possibly PTSD. A lot of unprocessed trauma. Apart from that, I don't think Endeavor has ever chased glory, he wanted to be the very best, not for glory, but because he felt inadequate, the constant thought of always being second best was what pushed him to the brink of madness. A lot of people seem to forget, that often times people are abusive not because they're evil, but because of untreated mental health issues and trauma. After all, many times victims become abusers because it's the only form of control. As well as the fact that trauma often develops into anger issues. I think that's why I find Endeavor so interesting, he is very human.
It's interesting how Endeavor is one of the characters that's drawn in the most realistic way, if you notice his nose and his teeth you'll see that it's different from other characters. I thinki Horikoshi does this to make him look more close to actual people irl.
Ok so if you have read the manga Endeavour controlled Shouto he was obsessed with him Endeavour states that himself in the manga and he didn't let Shouto leave his sites he beat Shouto and even Shouro stated to Endeavour in the manga "You beat my quirk into me" Endeavour in season 5 also had a wooden sword supposedly hinting that he did hit Shouto with it and he hit his wife in front of Shouto multiple times making her pour boiling water onto Shouto. Endeavour does not have PTSD or depression there is nothing that states he had. He is like Bakugou in my opinion. Bakugou abused Midoriya because he felt like Midoriya was more powerful and had inferior issues Endeavour abused his child Shouto and neglected Natsuo Fuyumi and Touya (Touya was never abused by Endeavour or trained badly by him) because Endeavour had inferior issues resulting in him being obsessed with Shouto because he could beat AllMight he controlled every aspect of Shouto's life making Shouto self harm (Using his ice giving himself frostbite) because he was so bad to him and his mother don't want to spoil it too much for you in the manga but this is my opinion on why i don't like him he doesn't have mental health issues he is an asshole whom is obsessed with his child because he is perfect in his eyes to defeat AllMight and make his own selfish desires come true yes he is trying to redeem himself but he is doing the bare minimum he is just not beating Shouto that's it.

I am allowed to like him as much as you are allowed to dislike him, and if there's someone who likes Endeavor as much as I do, it's Horikoshi Kohei (and, ironically, Keigo).
@@jimjimcherie Keigo likes Endeavour because he saved him from his abusive father yet Endeavour is abusive. Keigo even stated that Shouto is so cool for forgiving his abusive dad because Keigo could never forgive his abusive parents the only reason he likes Endeavour because he saved him as a child. Hawks never knew Endeavour abused Shouto until recently in the manga and we still haven't really seen Shouto and Hawks and Endeavour yet in the manga. Kohei has faced so much backlash for making an Endeavour redemption.

Eh, Iida doesn't have the mid-air mobility Bakugo has that let him get Natsuo where he was dangling in front of the train and then immediately reverse and get out of the way (and I think he has to build up his speed a bit to get that fast, while Bakugo just 'unlocked' a crazy fast but pretty short distance burst of speed)

Lmao yeah. about the punching through walls discussion and japanese walls. That'S exactly how us Europeans think about US walls. Just so punchable. And speaking of the walls anyway, I think they have to be fire proof. There's a scene in season 3 when basically the entire dojo is on fire. I love this episode. That scene on the street is my favorite scene in the whole story so far. And because you looked confused when Endeavor said he didn't save Natsuo, cause he thought Natsuo might never talk to him again, it's to prevent exactly what you feared before this episode. I always interpreted it this way: Natsuo hates his father. That's the only connection they shared. Saving Natsuo maybe he'd feel like he owed Endeavor. Or like now, that the man saved him, he has to forgive him. But it's not that easy and if Natsuo can't hate him, what would remain between them. I think it's a valid concern that if Endeavor saved Natsuo, Natsuo would pull back and seclude himself. As it is, Natsuo is still VERY comfortable screaming at his father, and Endeavor just prefers the screaming over complete silence.
6:28 idk why but when I saw this episode I thought it was so funny and cool at the same time that Bakugo caught his briefcase and didn't complain about like he would usually say something like "I don't need your help you damn nerd" improving in the most unexpected ways possible
The translation for the reason Endeavor froze that i saw from one of the subs was more akin to "I thought that if i saved you right then you'd feel indebted to me and never be able to speak up against me again" which honestly makes a lot more sense. Not sure which service that was or if it was the reactor's editor that fixed it but this official translation was really clunky.

Regarding Toya, keep in mind what was said during the matches at the beginning of the season: he had stronger flames than Endeavor’s, but his mother’s “weak constitution”. In other words, Toya had no immunity to his own flames. Just like Shoto starts freezing if he uses too much ice or Endeavor starts overheating if he uses his flames too much. And he was trained by Endeavor at least to the point of almost mastering Flashfire Fist.

In regards to the house building comment, anyone that's not licensed as a hero or sidekick can't legally use their quirks in public areas or for their jobs. It's why Uruaka couldn't help out ber parents construction company. Laws in MHA are heavily constricting in regards to quirk usage and have been since their creation according to the lore. Those laws along with prejudice against certain quirk types have subtlety been a factor in why so many people have been villains.

Someone's got an obsession with a certain fiery dude
I wish Young Justice was well written like MHA
The translation for the reason Endeavor froze that i saw from one of the subs was more akin to "I thought that if i saved you right then you'd feel indebted to me and never be able to speak up against me again" which honestly makes a lot more sense. Not sure which service that was or if it was the reactor's editor that fixed it but this official translation was really clunky.
This was the best episode of the season so far
Conclusion of a commentary of a guy called L B - Credits.
His abuser does still exist, just realizes what he's been.
Toya has even less immunity than Endeavour and Shoto. They at least have some pretty OK immunity, Toya seems to have next to nothing
I still love this episode despite how much Endeavor's character has gone downhill in recent memory.
Yes bakago can hold his own in the kitchen. If you remember in season 3, he was cutting up the seasoning (or that’s what I think it was) like a chef
What happened to Rana? She missed the Todoroki family episodes :(
That's my question too, where is she? She's shoto's fangirl:(
I think she's on a vacation or something..they mentioned it in one of the last few episodes
@@rick.2777 hopefully she will be back to react to MVA
@@rick.2777 Ohh thank u for telling me
Who's Rana? Why isn't there a page for her on the wiki?
Bakugo and Todoraki were great side kicks this episode! And Deku was such a great hero!!!
Todoroki was more in the role of the hero this episode actually if you ask me
When I first saw this I was afraid when he said the line "nice house" that something was going on back at the home and Fuyumi was in danger.
Look boy: Im endeavor's no.1 fan
Inasa: no, I am
???: AMATEURS!!!
both: what you said punk
Ending: AMATEURS!!!!!!
4:32 I know this is incredibly petty but, that was established in season 3. Bakugo is a good cook
@@Axxidous Believe me, I almost wish I didn't hit send, they are fun group to watch and I hope they continue to enjoy the show
Toya…the manga it hits. Can’t wait for the anime version.
Watching the uncuts, I love your wacky reaction to the Opening; it's really an odd combination of a really hype song, goofy lyrics and an out of nowhere drop :P
10:56 There is, he doesn't want the redemption way he just wants the Repentance route
Endeavor's redemption arc story is one of the best.
Next episode is the start of one of my favorite arcs. ;)
How do you think “that arc’s” first episode went? A lot of people are upset with it.
next episode should be interesting to yall!
Such a great episode! Damn Ending's dub voice was cool! Creepy little shit hahah
Too bad Rana the biggest todo fam fan not in the past two reaction
I think the oldest brother toya that they think died, is the guy from the league of villains with the blue flame and fake skin hanging off.
Finally 😭 I’ve been waiting for this lmao 😂 also I know you guys don’t watch previews but next weeks preview is something else. You guys are in for a treat after next episode 💯
I miss the All Might laugh intro! If you want to keep doing it, go ahead!
How well would Flash villains(Dc Comics) and Spider-Man villains(Marvel Comics) do in My Hero Academia?
They would be very op in my hero especially reverse flash and venom
The movie or TV versions would be midd tho lmao. In the comics they are way stronger and have Hella different versions while my hero is more grounded and not ridiculous in power
Why do you keep spamming this same comment every MHA video? No cares
BarryFRFx: Well I just peoples opinions about this.
Yeah quite a lot of DC and Marvel would probably go bananas in the world of MHA.
Still no Rana =(
Yall not ready for what bout to happen in 2 weeks
Sometimes the quirks are so wacky it breaks my immersion a little lmao
that dude with the speech bubble head and his onomatopoeia quirk? 😂😂
@@leonardohenrique5172 he's definitely one of the most egregious of many offenders haha
Ugh I’m so excited for u guys to see the touya stuff! I feel like the todoroki family dynamics are very interesting to me. I hope no one spoils anything for u guys. things are gonna keep getting good 😊♥️♥️
Also the order of siblings is touya, fuyumi, natsuo, shoto.
I can't wait for you to react on the next episode! You're gonna gag!
Let's admit it, if Rana react to this she goes wild 🇵🇭🤣
Love the todoroki drama
I will say I think Bakugo taunting Endeavor was funnier in the sub😂😂
Y'ALL GET READY MENTALLY TO SEE THE NEXT EPISODE.
Can you guys figure out how to make a playlist already
5:37 Quite the incredimazing dub
I was waiting for this
1:58 I member. Chris had the funniest "oh no" moan on camera.
If I could chooses bakugo super hero name I'd name him tick tick
Great episode
Keeping up with the endeavor's
i do think its jeanist too cause of that recent flashback
You are PREPARED for the next episode.
this entire episode the manga readers are just cackling because they have no idea. hahaha!!! evil laugh
Keep up the good content, y'all 🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥
Bakugo should be Ground Zero
(I’d like to preface this by saying I watch the show usually in the dub but lately I have been to impatient to wait a week)
road paint guy did not sound this erotic in the sub 🤣🤣🤣
I love characters like endeavor kinda reminds me of how vageta used to be
In regards to the house building comment, anyone that's not licensed as a hero or sidekick can't legally use their quirks in public areas or for their jobs. It's why Uruaka couldn't help out ber parents construction company. Laws in MHA are heavily constricting in regards to quirk usage and have been since their creation according to the lore. Those laws along with prejudice against certain quirk types have subtlety been a factor in why so many people have been villains.
Natsu is the english dubb for Sugawara in Haikyu.
If you guys read the manga already know bakugos hero name...please don't spoil it 🙏 but il warn you it's a long ass hero name lol and it's hilarious lol sooooooooo....... your gonna have to wait for season 6, oh yeah next arc will begin next Saturday just wanna put a tiny bit of info in so don't hate me if I spoiled it I'm trying to keep it to a minimum 🙏 so please I'm trying my best not to spoil everything thank you 👍
Natsuo not Natsui lmao
There’s Only 3 Steps Left To The Beginning😈.
Actually Suraj told Bakugo's hero name without realising it. in Bakugo vs Classs B post Discussion. Check that episode to know the Bakugo name
