I believe it will be available sometime during the summer. It has been rumored to be available in the US around late june to late July. Should be sometime around there.
Got my TP2 a few weeks ago due to my Touch Pro messing up again and I am loving it! Multitasking is a little bit down as it says but its not bad. Great phone. I love HTC.
I didn't think it was possible for any mobile device to have a battery worse then the Touch Pro... That being said, I think I will be going to the Palm Pre. I love my Touch Pro, but the battery life is just not what It should be. After trying out tons of custom Roms, I found one that seems to do it justice. However the tilting screen isn't enough for me to go to the Touch Pro 2... Palm Pre just seems so much nicer when I demo'd it. Thanks for the review! Helped a lot!
This is great info!!! Can you guys please do a detailed comparison between the HTC Touch Pro vs. HTC Touch Pro 2. I believe a lot of people would be interested in that. Especially difference in quality of screen, battery life and software differences (FE Radio). Thank you guys! You guys rock!
Thank you. Good comparison. I will be getting one on Sprint. Right now I pay $27/month on Sprint with unlimited text and data and this will be a sweet upgrade to my TP. Makes the Pre look like a dumbphone.
can you please link to a video showing the slide out keyboard. i haven't been able to find anything other than youtube comments saying that it has a slide out keyboard
In my opinion, each HTC phone takes a lot of steps forward, while taking a few key steps back. When the Mogul/6800 gave way to the TP/6850, we lost the Comm Manager button, as well as the Start menu button, both of which I used frequently. Now the TP2 loses the D pad and the camera flash, which I guess is ok, because I only used the D pad for games (i.e. infrequently) and took pictures only rarely. But still I like buttons if it's a program I use frequently. I'm always using Comm Manager
Yes, if you get the one with windows mobile 6.5 which just came out, it has a marketplace. WM6.5 just came out and was made to compete with the iphone and droids. It has become a mobile version of Linux vs Windows vs Apple haha. But you can count on both pumping a bunch of applications to the point you'll be satisfied with either phones.
@failobjects Is Andriod any good on it? Also, is Winodws 7 fast on it? I love windows 7 (I have an iPhone, but I run Windows 7 interface on it) but I want it to be more perfected before I make the leap.
i wanted to get the pro but like 3 days ago i found out the pro 2 is coming out and i really dont know what the price diference will be so im not sure which one i will get :(
does anyone no the official release date on sprint. i asked a few reps at different stores and they act like its a effin secret or something or they act like its not comin out lol. and does it come with windows 6.5 standard or is it an upgrade?
Actually you can set custom ringtones for messages. It took me a while to figure this out as well and I wish I had my phone to be a little more helpful (I smashed the damn thing) but it has to be in a certain directory/location in order for it to be picked up. Hope this helps a bit
I'm not sure which TP1 you have, but mine has flash and the magnetic stylus is just a huge bonus. I'm clumsy by nature and need features like that. Yeah, it's definitely upgraded and a whole lot nicer, but it's just not everything I would want. Why buy something that doesn't have everything I want when there are phones that do? :) I appreciate your input though.
but remember, it has the sliding qwerty keyboard... you cant expect it to be too thin either.. if you get turned off by the thickness just go for the touch diamond 2
Just to set the record straight... The MSM7201a is *NOT* "newer" than the MSM7200a. The 7201 is a version of the 7200 that *excludes* some video encoding technologies due to some patent suit between Broadcom (I believe) and Qualcomm. The 7200 has this microcode in it. It is, in turn, a better processor. The Sprint Touch Pro2 uses neither... It uses an MSM7600.
Some people were able to keep old employee referal type plans, new users weren't allowed to sign up with these plans for about the last 6 months or so when Sprint killed them. Just like most everyone else I pay the standard $99 simply everything plan.
I think still having the stylus is a good OPTION. You dont have to use it. But for Notes, its cool to still be able to scribble something down or draw something out. IMO.
I have the Touch Pro and it is a Beautiful phone. It looks so classy and sexy, the Chrome looks so sexy. I love it but sometimes it freezes way to often. Im thinking about upgrading to the Touch Pro 2. The screen is much bigger. But the cost is like WOW!
Help... I had a Touch Pro didn't like it, To much frame lag and unresponsive. Now I have a Palm Pre and I love this phone and I'm afraid to get the Touch pro 2 and end up like I did with the original Touch. So what Im realy asking is .. Palm Pre or Touch Pro 2?
For some reason, I had absolutely no idea that the original Touch Pro had a real keyboard. The only prob. I have now is it's formed in a grid. :/ Hmmm. Maybe I'll just get the original? :)
on the moment i've got the 'Samsung Monte'. Also a beautiful phone. But i really want the 'htc touch pro 2'' great design! thumbs up if u like the 'htc touch pro 2' !
@kungpao56 multitasking, and updated hardware. that is just about it. The iphone can be jailbroken, but that can never result in a brand new look with ROMs, tweaks, etc. It just allows access to 3rd party apps.
I'm stuck between this n the upcominf Acer F1 that will have the 1ghz snapdragon chipset. And it looks good. You should check it out online by searching google.
This video has definitely made me decide not to get the TP2 -- the magnetic stylus was necessary & every camera should have flash. I've ruined some of the greatest pictures because my phone's camera didn't have flash & it's just ridiculous when cameras don't. I also don't know why everyone is complaining the TP1 was slow because mine definitely isn't & my battery life is great (I use it all the time as well). Anyways, if HTC decides to give the TP2 flash & a magnetic stylus I'll totally get it!
Temperbad "no offense" but the Tp1 does has FM radio capability. Also, you might have had better life on your TP2 because of the way you've used it, battery life varies depending on the user, do your research before you go thinking you can tell a phone expert they are "uneducated" ....no offense.
I have had three of them and the battery in all mine have sucked too. Would never buy this phone again because of that reason alone - and it's no fluke because I've had to trade it in twice because of keyboard issues.
Cool, first view and comment ;) Now but to comment on the video. Of course everyone should upgrade, the new one is so much nicier than the first generation touch pro!
if only that it had a real keyboard... that's really a dealbreaker for me when it comes to phones. i refuse to use touchscreen keyboards until they can at least make the screen feel different. it still takes up a lot of space though, and it makes playing games practically impossible
so i have the HTC touch pro i am on my 3rd one now i had to wornty out 2 of them key bord went out on one the outher one the LCD went out after to days uuuug lol it needs updates and a lot of them lol but outher then that i like it i have US cellular
WM6.5 runs absolutely crappy on the original Touch Pro. Given the TP2 has 20meg less RAM as this guy is stating, I can't imagine it being any more usable. Maybe Opera is just a crappy browser but I can't take how sluggish the interface is, and how your selections get backlogged in the CPU's queue, some times it gets so laggy it's unusuable as you accidently select the wrong things.
To me your just buying a new case, and a larger screen, other than that IS THE SAME PHONE, they both have the same hardware, im not wisting 550$ on this new case/screen, i love my touch pro and il stick with it for years to come.
i got my TP2 it is insanely nice very high quality.the videos do it absolutly no justice best phone on the market in my opinion.5/5 for sure.
One of my favorite phones!!
I believe it will be available sometime during the summer. It has been rumored to be available in the US around late june to late July. Should be sometime around there.

whats the website for xda so I can get the software for the radio on my TP2
Thank you. Good comparison. I will be getting one on Sprint. Right now I pay $27/month on Sprint with unlimited text and data and this will be a sweet upgrade to my TP.
Makes the Pre look like a dumbphone.
can you please link to a video showing the slide out keyboard. i haven't been able to find anything other than youtube comments saying that it has a slide out keyboard
do you know when it will become available?
yes it will be available for sprint. All four major US carriers are receiving the device.
In my opinion, each HTC phone takes a lot of steps forward, while taking a few key steps back. Just what I waited for!. I have a touch pro and can't wait to upgrade it to pro2!!!
I hope it comes out for 3 users in Australia...
otherwise its between the sony Ericsson X1 and X2 or HTC touch pro 1....
which is better?
anybody kno the difference in battery life? looking to buy one and my old touch pro battery was awful running touch flow 3d

when dowes the touch pro 2 come out?...im stil more than likely gonna get the touch pro original, but i just want to know
i wanted to get the pro but like 3 days ago i found out the pro 2 is coming out and i really dont know what the price diference will be so im not sure which one i will get :(
When is the HTC Touch Pro 2 coming out in the U.S.A?
anybody know when the touch pro 2 is coming out for sprint??? plz let me know asap
does anyone no the official release date on sprint. i asked a few reps at different stores and they act like its a effin secret or something or they act like its not comin out lol. and does it come with windows 6.5 standard or is it an upgrade?
does the tp2 have a front facing camera??
also dual microphones and dual speakers. that is a key hardware improvement, which may not be useful to some, it is still very handy.
Actually you can set custom ringtones for messages. It took me a while to figure this out as well and I wish I had my phone to be a little more helpful (I smashed the damn thing) but it has to be in a certain directory/location in order for it to be picked up. Hope this helps a bit
Damn I had the HtC Diamond and touchpro 2. Loved them phones.
does it slide out? all the pictures i've seen look like it couldn't possibly have a keyboard
I'm might get this if the hero won't come to us, and pro is coming to tmobile august, damn I can't wait
"your practically always in a quite environment"
well, that's exactly so that you won't always have to be in a quiet environment
I'm not sure which TP1 you have, but mine has flash and the magnetic stylus is just a huge bonus. I'm clumsy by nature and need features like that. i got a touch pro 2. shoud i get a xpiria play?
but remember, it has the sliding qwerty keyboard...
you cant expect it to be too thin either..
if you get turned off by the thickness just go for the touch diamond 2
I have the Tilt 2 version of the TP2, it came with an FM Radio

do you need for this phone special earplugs?

@PMontanaro5 this has been in aus for a while now, im picking mine up next week, i cant wait!
can you get the phone for at&t
man i had both of these. Back when HTC and Windows were on top
He's talking about the HTC version, even though the Sprint version is being shown. 90% of Brandon's videos are about the OEM models.
Please make a Samsung Moment Vs. Sprint HTC Touch Pro1, I can't decide between those two.
Can anyone tell me how to get android on this
on the moment i've got the 'Samsung Monte'. Also a beautiful phone. But i really want the 'htc touch pro 2'' great design! thumbs up if u like the 'htc touch pro 2' !

its coming to sprint sept 3 with a 3.5 headphone jack plus all black!
how much does this cost unlocked?
I'm stuck between this n the upcominf Acer F1 that will have the 1ghz snapdragon chipset. And it looks good. You should check it out online by searching google.
It came out here in Sweden today.

no, it has a 3.2, but the touch diamond2 has a 5 megapixel camera
3yrs, damn!
@bra1235
that not possible but you can download the omarket
@surge1899 i couldnt agree with you more ..have the tp2 for verizon and it blows everything away..
Temperbad "no offense" but the Tp1 does has FM radio capability. Also, you might have had better life on your TP2 because of the way you've used it, battery life varies depending on the user, do your research before you go thinking you can tell a phone expert they are "uneducated" ....no offense.
the touch pro 2 battery has been greatly inhanced, its battery life is very good,
dam thats a bad ass phone i get mine tomorrow.that thing is basically a lap top with phone capabilitys.HTC TP2 5/5.
can you make another video abaut "Htc touch pro vs touch diamond and diamond 1 not 2
dude please do the vs of touch pro 2 and touch diamond 2
I don't have either of these handsets but the original touch pro seems better looking in my opinion.
I have had three of them and the battery in all mine have sucked too. Would never buy this phone again because of that reason alone - and it's no fluke because I've had to trade it in twice because of keyboard issues.
i can tell the difference, the HD screen is wider, and slightly taller, maybe i just have a keen eye
@JurkeFloyd the unlocked version
Is the touch pro a good phone?
Cool, first view and comment ;) Now but to comment on the video. Of course everyone should upgrade, the new one is so much nicier than the first generation touch pro!
if only that it had a real keyboard...
that's really a dealbreaker for me when it comes to phones. i refuse to use touchscreen keyboards until they can at least make the screen feel different. it still takes up a lot of space though, and it makes playing games practically impossible
Yes.. they BOTH HAVE KEYBOARDS!
i haven't owned either, but the stylus on the tp1 looks much higher quality than on the tp2
The Acer F1 is
The King of Phones :)
so i have the HTC touch pro i am on my 3rd one now i had to wornty out 2 of them key bord went out on one the outher one the LCD went out after to days uuuug lol
it needs updates and a lot of them lol
but outher then that i like it
i have US cellular
this was really helpfull sounds like the original touch pro is better
he's reviewing the phones, that's his job
You have the original HTC Touch Pro, while this is the Sprint Touch Pro.
yes
Now is the time... Pocketnow has a link off to a promo where you can get it for $149 (instead of $399)!!!!!!
Oddly enough, the TP1 was ridiculously slow, and the new one (based off of most reviews) is a lot faster. Weird.
TP2 wins it has 1 of the best keyboard's ive used and seen in awhile
TP2 all the way great comparison
WM6.5 runs absolutely crappy on the original Touch Pro. Given the TP2 has 20meg less RAM as this guy is stating, I can't imagine it being any more usable. Maybe Opera is just a crappy browser but I can't take how sluggish the interface is, and how your selections get backlogged in the CPU's queue, some times it gets so laggy it's unusuable as you accidently select the wrong things.
ur welcome. Always good to keep more than 1 phone on your wishlist, just n case 1 sucks
htc touch pro 2 FTW!!!!!

@BrandonJS20 touch pro 2 palm pre dosent have a nice feel
yes!!! it is newer and faster
To me your just buying a new case, and a larger screen, other than that IS THE SAME PHONE, they both have the same hardware, im not wisting 550$ on this new case/screen, i love my touch pro and il stick with it for years to come.
id get the touch pro
holy crap tech as changed lol
