Well, you did it again! ;) Several suggestions after watching this latest post, if I may: 1- for tail section, having the tail sketched the other way around (180 degrees) , or having it fixed the proper way (thickness-wise rather than width-wise) in the vice would have made a huge difference. 2- inhaling accelerator and it's contact with skin and eyes is very harmful, even worse than super glue itself! Using a protective layer for spreading the super glue is essential. 3- from what I saw, most likely, adding too much oils spray and not letting it fizz out before pouring the second half of mold should have been the reason for a porous and bad half mold. Applying petroleum jelly on the prototype throughly, and on the parting surface of mold would be a better practice for simple molds like this. 4- using detachable parting plates in the prototype which could be used also in the final mold would be a way better practice, saving time after demolding to bring lure to to field ready status! ;) 5- I believe mixing different lure/tackle actions together will cancel their respective action out. 6- my two cents got much more than expected, for a Regular comment perspective!... sorry for that, but, for my last nickle, please consider shorter posts like around 20 minutes. I watched your around 50 minute post here but it was way too long my fellow angler/ lure maker...please! ;) Thank you for your patience in reading this Long comment!.... I consider sticking to a Regular comment length myself! ;)
I appreciate all the helpful comments, support and your enthusiasm. I am learning as I’m progressing with lure making so hopefully I’ll be making better products. You Stay Regular!
Nice work as ever. I think the ugly bubbles on the top half of your mold are gas, bubbles and residue from the spray oil. I noticed I got more on my plaster mold top section too, even get some from Vaseline. Just a hazard of the job I suppose. Secondly your jointed swimbait, maybe if you make a new rear section that is a small paddle tail like it will create enough resistance in the water to cause it to wiggly more? Just a couple of ideas🤙. Great work as ever and caught a couple of nice bass on it too. Well done.
Thank you so much for the continued support. I will have to continue to try to work on that jointed lure, and I will try that paddle tail idea. Yeah, bubbles will happen to the best of us, but we will endeavor to persevere.
Fins on a glide bait will make it track straight, kinda like an airplane. One solution is to put a lip on it. The only way ive seen someone get away with a big dorsal fin was marlingbaits with his hinged glidebaits.
Thank you for the advice. That was my first real attempt at a glide bait about six years ago. I’m always trying new way to turn my failed lures into a win. You Stay Regular!
