    Hey Nate I bought some UV resin for random projects and I gota say that stuff is excellent. I've used it in place of super glue to glue stone to wood in a quick repair job as well as fixing plastic items here and there. Thanks for introducing me to chinese UV resin so many years ago. 😂

    I might try slice the middle of the fiber and place in something that looks suspended in the dot. Maybe a small marble or something. Beautiful bait like always and thank you for the video.

    Acrylic tube, no stuff on the outside. Works with sheets of acrylic too, the edges carry the light, the faces act as mirrors facing each other inwards. Works with glass too!

    I think you should put some reflective flake in the the glue you use to adhere to fiber optic filament inside the bait. That way you don't have to put paint over the end of it and dull its brightness, but you will still get whatever color you want it to be through the reflective flake.

    20:53 A couple idea if you like. One with a bait that has the outside of the cable untouched like this beautiful one is, but add color in the epoxy mix or the cinder wall before glue up. I am so curious if that would pop. Ooor you could put glider in the epoxy mix. I don't know 😅.

    Man I'm going through that throat crap too! Gorgeous bait. Clever fiber optic trick I might have to try as well! Worth looking into that's for sure.

  • @davidpritchett855
    @davidpritchett855 6 месяцев назад +9

    So there are multiple types of fiber optic filaments. The idea is that any light that gets inside is reflected off the side walls of the tube but the outside is typically translucent so they can accumulate light down the length of the fiber optic. Think of it like a pipe made of one-way mirror material. They're often used in firearm optics bent in a U shape with the external portion of the fiber optic accumulating light and it is then emitted towards the shooter for the sights. I think this could be absolutely killer on a cigar top water bait. Run a thin fiber optic along the dorsal then through the body so that light is emitted near the attachment points of the hooks at the rear and the belly. It's always fun to add new materials to projects you're used to!

  • @JerseyShoreFishing
    @JerseyShoreFishing 6 месяцев назад

    Future lure build idea….X-RAY FISH lipless crankbait using clear casting resin. The composition is perfect for it. Guts can be the poured lead and painted for detail. Through wire the body and it can act as the spine. Would be a cool build to watch.

  • @rkowenwyo
    @rkowenwyo 6 месяцев назад

    Nate, I got a comment for this fiber optic stuff. The material "gathers light" from the sides, and "pipes" the light to the cut ends. If you really want the material to literally shine, make a bait with it running along the spine, or backbone of the lure. Any part of the side of the fiber optic that won't have light shine on it cover with reflective foil to really intensify the light.

    • @TheDrewbacca96
      @TheDrewbacca96 6 месяцев назад

      I was thinking the same thing. It would flash the sides if it had access from the top.

  • @Hastnaset
    @Hastnaset 6 месяцев назад

    Try and ad more flashing/blinking diods of different colors in your baits. Make them so when they are in the water they start blinking by having the ends of one of the wires sticking out from the bait. Then the water will connect the flow from the batteri.

    I think you should try a popping frog bait with Fibre optic in the middle of the bait..this way the light is always shining down on it. You could place several pieces together and join them with clear resin to then insert into the body of the lure. Also add translucent paint to it! Awesome work keep it up. Get well soon!
