This is a brief overview of how an airbrush (double action) works in a nutshell. The anatomy and function of the airbrush is explained to better understand how it works and how it can be used as a powerful painting tool for artists.

Greg very good tutorial , I have been using airbrushes for years and i found the fact of leaving the trigger pressed maintaining air flow so as to keep the gun primed very useful as most of us think of trying to give the compressor a easier life by letting it rest because most of us use small compressors so its a great tip that had not crossed my mind before .

I loved this, thank you. When you clean your airbrush, do you use an ultra sonic cleaner or just use the liquid cleaner and swabs/paper towels?
+Shoe Doodles Hi Shoe, when it comes to cleaning airbrushes keep it simple. you can use airbrush cleaners or warm soapy water. remember don't use anything that could possible damage your O-rings inside most airbrushes. Swabs, pipe cleaners, and air. Yes air, blow air threw your nozzles or the body of the airbrush.:)
So how do these guys who make DIY Air brushes regulate thier air/paint mixture as it discharges? Your device has a valve or "strike plate" as you called it, under the trigger, but the homeade devices dont have that.
So what is the cause and effect of paint coming out while just pressing the nozzle? I heard you say something about it but didn't address it. I have this problem.
can you explain the difference in needle sizes and what they are best used for?
I'm new to airbrushing and want to start customizing shoes..what type of kit should I order, brand, paint..etc? Correct PSI to use and so forth
+Joshua Taylor posting a video soon concerning shoes. There is really no kit. Its just airbrush Wicked paint, paint adhesion promoter and a good clear coat. PSI anywhere between 25 to 35.

How do you keep your tip from drying out so fast. I can only paint for a few moments before the pain builds up on the tip and I have to wipe it off.

Your referring to a siphon feed (bottle on the bottom) or gravity feed (cup on the top). It all depends on the job your doing. More detailed artwork-I would use a gravity feed.

so adjusting the nozel or cap to it will do nothing just leave alone an paint like how u say???
