Today I'm testing out Kmart's new $7 chalk paint range. At this price can this paint be any good??? The colour I selected is Crystal Blue and I'm hoping to transform a thrifted sideboard find into a modern coastal beauty.

Hi so glad yo find your video. Just wondering is it worth using on mdf as i jave a toy box in color white but i wanna change the color to match the interior but not sure if i use the chalk paint.
Did you top coat the paint at all? Did it feel matte once it dried? Do you think it will clean easily? Thank you for your review! I really like watching your videos. ❤
Thank you! The paint dried matt with a light sheen, almost similar to fusion mineral paint and cleans pretty easily. Just a damp cloth and it is all good 👍 I don't usually top coat my paints, only timber stained areas as I find they get the most traffic and need an extra layer of durability
Just wondering how many jars of paint did you need for this piece? I’m doing a much smaller tallboy and have noticed after only 2 coats using a roller, I had used the whole jar almost.
I hand painted my sideboard and this only used 1 whole jar. Painting with rollers will always require more paint, sometimes x3 of what hand painting will use. The roller is a huge absorber of paint
what do i put over the top of chalk paint on furniture? i bought some chalk paint from bunnings and it stains so easily

Thanks Shaaron.I didn't apply a top coat or wax on this painted body as the paint already had a protective coating in. I usually only apply wax to very chalky painted pieces and when it requires more durability
Thinking of using dacoupage on it. Got a semi plolished liquor cabinet. Do you still havev to sand it before painting ? Thanks.
What primer do you use before applying chalk paint?
In this video I didn't. I generally use a primer when I'm painting a light colour like white or cream or the timber is likely to be a bleeder

I love painting with chalk paint brushes, the key is not to overload them with too much paint or apply too much pressure when painting. I bought these from Inspiration Paints but you can find similar on amazon or various online paint retailers.
Can you recommend what paint brushes do you use?

The white actually has a pink tinge so beware if you have other white items to match
Hi Brian, do you mean the white in the whitewash timber or the painted sideboard? As the colour I used to paint this is a light blue, so not sure where you are referring to for the pink tinge?

@@selenastyledesigns I think the comment is in reference to the Kmart chalk paint in the colour white? Perhaps this person has used it and found it had a pink hue to it when next to their other white pieces? I could be wrong but that was how I read it 😊
