When all you run are huskies it's kind of a shock when you run a Stihl and you don't have that air injection. Just a few cuts and the filters are packed.

    • @gillerizedworksaws9561
      @gillerizedworksaws9561 Месяц назад

Every Stihl I have gets a foam oiled filter first thing then it's much better
Still stupid having to upgrade a saw just to not suck fines when's it's brand new
I cut a lot of dead pine in the high desert and you absolutely have to or you'll be sucking dust within a couple hours

Great saw!!! I ran a 2100 in 1978, but bought a 380 CD. I liked Husqvarnas so much that I became a dealer for eight and a half years. I still think they are the best saws on the planet. I just added a 592 XP to my collection. Thanks for all the great videos. Shalom/gw P.S. My old 380 CD still runs like the day I bought it. ;-))

The first high powered saw I owned was a Husky 1100 CD. It was about 1976. What a wild cat. At that time there was nothing that would cut with it. Eventually Husky upgraded to the 2100. It was about the same 100cc saw. I ran these through the 1980, using around 2 gallons of gas a day. These saws were awsum for the times. But they were heavy and vibrated more than todays top dogs. At night my hands/arms would feel numb. But I loved those big Huskys.

I felt every tooth had to be treated the same and I never filed the rakers and I’m just getting started. I’ve only been working against my self for about 35 years. It got to the point that I was having my dealer sharpen my chain for me. Thank you for the education.

Being in the repair business, for 44 years now Bucky, I like new technology but I'm stuck with my old Husqvarna and a few old stihl,s , my choice to run with the Stihl ms500i would be a nice warmed up modified Husqvarna XP 390, as a certified repair technician, the new breed of chainsaws are short-lived even if you're really take care of them most of our tippers in this area and get four years out of a two or three thousand dollars saw

Interesting to hear you mention the 500i air filter issues, I’ve experienced the same thing. I now put a smear of grease around the inside of the sealing surfaces where the filter sits over the intake to catch the dust, and on the hole where it sits over the quarter turn pole.
I’d love to see you elaborate more about this in another video, as personally I really think they need to sort it and address it officially. A bit more exposure would help give Stihl the hurry-up please! 😁
Just following your point of older guys needing easier kit - I now almost exclusively use the Husqvarna 540iXP (with either 200X or 300 battery) 16” saw for ALL my processing of grounded timber! It’s so light, has plenty of power, and no vibration, no fumes and less noise! You can even fell with it easily as long as you don’t try and go nuts with the little dogs. Once the log gets to nearer full bar length or if I’m cross cutting big crotches I usually switch to the 500i. The 540i is a great saw for anyone who wants to give their hands and back an easier time! 🤙

Hi Billy. Greetings from Poland in Europe!
Your Husqvarna looks almost identically to Polish Dolpima PS180 and Dolpima PS280. As I remember correctly Dolpima made these chainsaws (or as You call them powersaws) in cooperation with Husqvarna. Pistons and cylinders were made by Mahle. Generally speaking these powersaws were awesome. My father has been using his PS180 for 30 years and it is still working with a new piston.

I can help!!! Heres some good advice!! Buy a small saw. 261 50cc 10lbs would be awesome. Buy a falling saw 462 would be the best choice. IF you need bigger then that 661 would be awesome. Unfortunately STIHL makes 20 saws in the 13lb area and only 1 would be my top choice. 462. I just think its that good and man it screams. You can run a 20 inch bar on a 462 or a 32. There is not many saws that can do that. 72cc and 6hp at 13lbs... Thats a saw.... To give you a comparison. The 391 is heavier and has much Less power. I guess if you only have 500 600 to spend then I understand.

They spared no expense building them, and the design way ahead of its time. That Cannon bard is the icing on the cake. I still use my 2101 on most my tree jobs. It's wearing a 50 inch Cannon these days. Awhile back on Craigslist there was a 2100 in the box, with all the manuals etc for 1,000 us. Either never fired or one test run

404 skiptooth on my husky 298xp was standard on the landing, bucking poplar decks. Thats a good bucking saw, the weight isn’t an issue when you’re cutting down into wood all day. I’d hate to lug that around falling in steep terrain…but if you’re in big wood, then its a go to! Good trade Buckin! Who’s gonna start it for you?😜 Let your shoulder heal up good before you start yarding on the pullcord! cheers from northern BC

Good morning Chief. Great to see that big boy 2100. Can't believe I sold my nice 3120 about 10 years ago for $400 what an idiot . They shoulda came with a Kickstarter instead of a pull cord. It's a dirt bike engine. Same cc.

Hello buckin. I run a bark box on my 661,500,and 462. I work for the forest service and only cut trees on fires and hazard trees on the forest. Not for logging so all my cuts are at belly button level so the exhaust fumes aren’t blowing in my face. If I was low stumping I might have a different opinion.

@@BuckinBillyRaySmith no it’s a full wrap. I cut from both sides of the tree. What ever side is safer. I cut a lot of hazard trees so I’m looking up 95% of the time.

Love the video and the saw. Right now I have my 2100 in pieces as I'm sorting out a bar oil leak. While it's apart I'm putting in new crank seals as leaky one can torch a saw fast. Very tricky getting parts and info on these old beauties. Mine makes 170 psi compression and is original inside and has been worked hard, mostly milling by me. Mine aint anywhere as pretty as yours.

That is crazy clean 2100. Wow. Them old gals had some compression. Had a 2 ring 2100 and you could hang it by the start handle all day, alllll day and it wouldn’t budge. Tons of compression. Still want a 500i lol. Got a 361 for a deal and so far I’m impressed. Little 60cc but my goodness it screams.

Hey buckin I enjoy your videos have to tell you I bought a 2100 back in the 80 s is a brute in 1988 a hurricane came inland across the piedmont of North Carolina and blew down timber everywhere a friend asked me to log out his blow down which happened to be big prime red oak 30 plus inches tall and straight but it was all blown down hill with huge root balls ready to crush you so I measured off my log lengths cut from the top down and leave one log on the stump then I would stand it back up with my big articulated loader and cut it down like a tree. I thought I was pretty tough I was in my early thirties but I quit cutting at lunchtime on Friday bucking with the big 2100 wore me out. Also I had the starter handle pulled through my fingers many times compression. Still have the saw. Looking forward to seeing you run that one.a clarification I finished the job just to wore out by Friday afternoon to keep working made good money on that one but definitely earned it

Hey Buckin, I can't lie. Just a little bummed to see the 500 hit the road. I thought for a hot minute we had a chance of converting ya to a Sthil man "LOL". That"s ok still love ya brother. I've been here since the beginning so I'm not going anywhere. A matter of fact, Just wanted to share with ya my 17 month old grandson can't get enough of your videos. I got him a Sthil 500I toy saw for Christmas and he carries it everywhere with him, takes it to the woods and he knows what to do with it. When he hears the woodman song he starts dancing, he loves ya too. You have an effect on people of all ages it seems. Now quit trying to pull on that 2100 before you jack that shoulder up some more. My little man is ready to see his buddy back at full steam. Have a good one.
