I actually really dig the art style, but man does it look rough and unrefined... Thanks for the great video and showcase of the game, I would have probably checked it out myself once it launched due to the art style alone... Not anymore though 😂
Thanks :) Unfortunately with its release date right around the corner, there's no real way to address all of these issues unless they delay the game and basically start over, which sucks to say. I don't know if there were too many hands in the cookie jar or something but it just had too much going on and not enough of those ideas were solid.
I agree that the art style is good. I do not mind the Saturday cartoon style (HiFi Rush for example). But other things… well not so much. I tried to watch demo play through and I failed. I get eclectic approach to game play but here it feels all over the place with nothing being satisfying. Than it is the story and it’s themes. I do not know much about it but if this one in combination with the style will not be able to attract players, I believe the game might flop. From what I saw and for now it was this video plus trying to watch the demo play through I can say this does not seem like a game for me.

I agree that this will likely be a flop, and it is a shame because I don't really want any game to do poorly, but there's just too many issues with it that need to be fixed and it would likely require overhauling the entire game.
Yeah, this is a game where a demo shouldn't be used. Detroit, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, all didn't need a demo because you had to experience the game from the start without any insights prior. Detroit was one of my favourite games, but yeah, I think playing a rough version of it would have put me off, like what this is doing here. The graphics/gameplay reminded me a bit of The Walking Dead to be honest, but yeah will wait and see what happens to this. Great video!
It had hints of a handful of games in it and I definitely thought about The Walking Dead for the art style, but I feel like it might have been just too many ideas mashed together and because of that it was just really missing on a lot of marks.
Man, this game does look pretty rough. Great video though! The It's Always Sunny bit actually made me laugh out loud. And if nothing else, I think this game has a cool art style going for it
I genuinely felt like that in the fight sequences. I almost used Kindergarten Cop, but I love Sunny so I had to choose that lol. If it wasn't for the bad lip-syncing I would've probably added a full point to the score because of the art. Decent style, but it unfortunately went to waste with the other faults in the game.
Would be funny if the demo was released recently because they forgot to release it when it was in this state of development and the full game's literally much better with pacing/narrowing down the mechanics of the game than this version is capable of.
I can really appreciate that they swung for the fences, but it unfortunately just had some issues with design aspects that keep it from realizing their goals.

Man I don't think I'll ever get into any of these super deep explorations of the human soul. This could be a GOTY contender and it wouldn't make my list. That said, it doesn't seem like this will be winning anything anytime soon. Amazing work as always sir!
Thanks :) I wanted to make this focus more on why it won't be considered for any awards because unfortunately I could easily see this reaching niche audiences that enjoyed games like Life is Strange, but when you already make your target audience small and then miss so badly, you don't really have a good shot at making it big (for the right reasons mind you)
No problem :) Unfortunately anything deemed as woke will always bring hate with it, so I try to avoid ever discussing it and just focus on the game itself. I don't think much could've saved this game, though, because some of the glaring issues with the game itself would still be there whether or not it had the "woke agenda" people are grilling it for. That just made it easier for people to get clickbait and jump on a game that would've likely just gone unnoticed.

i feel like if somebody says something is woke propaganda, or says the word woke whatsoever, 90% of the time theyre saying complete nonsense and 10% of the time the game is bad for completely unrelated reasons
Definitely. I just remember what people were saying when the reveal trailer came out and most of the comments were all about that. When I saw there was a demo I wanted to give it a shot and see what it was about, but unfortunately the issues that the game has have nothing to do with that "wokeness" people complained about and everything to do with just poor design aspects.
I could be wrong but when a lot of focus goes into inclusion and representation and less into gameplay and story and technical aspect of a game. I do think wokeness is harming the game. Having a black person or a gay person doesnt make a game woke, but the check boxy pandering is evident.
@@randomenvelope I can see where it can harm the game, but the reason why I wanted to cover this was because even if there was no "woke" aspect of this it was still a bad game. I don't know if a whole lot of time went into making sure there was a diverse cast, but more time should've gone into making a more cohesive game. The issues I brought up in the video are just bad decisions that would've made any game suffer, regardless of any sort of diversity, this game will just stick out more because of the "woke" agenda people see when they fist glance at it. I'd just rather call it what it is and that is a jumbled mess that lacks cohesion and good game design philosophy.

Now that the game is out the game 100% suffers from self proclaimed activist mindset or "woke" as the writing clearly suffers from it and theres even a TRIGGERED mechanic. - Over Emphasis on race/sex - "The end justifies the means" menatlity - Checkbox diversity - Dialogue based on Twitter conversations - Character designs coming straight up from the Tumblr - Hypocrisy seen as virtuous And then ontop of that, bad gameplay and mechanics, they are supposed to be a band and they sound like garbage
The artstyle is interesting, but the game looks unpolished. I think this game has some interesting ideas that looked good on paper, but work less good in the game. This game is probably not worth the full price. I think this game will not likely be a success. I mean the only people that seem to care about this game are the right wing culture warriors. I don't know if we ever had a game that gets hateplayed, but this game seems a candidate for it.
I agree. I think this may become a meme of sorts for people to use for whatever reason, but the truth is that even without any of the elements that make people freak out over cultural aspects, it is just a flawed game. I do think there were some neat ideas at play as well but they just weren't put together with the right glue.
I see alot of potential in this but its just seemingly not good in my opinion the story seems bland and boring the style is lovely but the gameplay is rough and boring I don't enjoy this game not for its politics but just because it lacks alot of stuff, and the voice acting is really meh . Overall it feels like some sort of scrapped project for a indie game

The game wasn't what I expected but it's different from what I usually play which got me interested.
