Check Out This Upcoming Steampunk Metroidvania | Demo Diving #39
This makes me remind the pain I felt with Celeste, reaching only level 4 😅 but the artstyle seems great! I liked your honest doubts about ths gameplay and yes, text sounds can be annoying if done in a bad way. Great video! And last time I forgot to sub, so just fixed it 😉
Thank you! I try to be as unbiased and fair on my thoughts as I can be, so if something bothers me I feel like I have to bring it up, but will always try to do so without saying something like "that's trash" because there's always something out there for everyone. Thanks for the sub too, I made sure to get you one and I will be following your stuff as well :)
@@Prozeon I 100% agree with what you said! We have our tastes so what we like (or dislike) can be different from others' tastes. Also, unless the game is clearly rushed, I try always to respect the work of developers, especially for small teams or solo projects. You deserve the sub man, absolutely! You're doing a great work 💪
Good video
Thank you :)
Such a great video! Didn't know about half of these games! I still want to go back to Enshrouded, but the more I play it, the more I miss Valheim...
Thanks. Be sure to check out the other video as well so you can get my 5-1 which is actually correct instead of Dorian's ;). I enjoy Enshrouded a lot because I feel like it fixes some of Valheim's shortcomings but it will always be hard to not want to come back to Valheim
Great videos guys! I checked both 💪 my favourite of both list Is problably Nine Sols (even if I've not played It still, it's in my backlog for now...). Congrats!
Thank you :) It was fun to partner up on this type of video. Nine Sols was definitely a great game that kind of came out of nowhere. Bo Path of the Teal Lotus has a similar art style, but an interesting aerial style combat that is worth checking out as well.
@Prozeon I have that on my list too! Or at least, I thought I had It 😅 added now!
Boo! BOO! VIVA LA PLANET CRAFTER! GOTY 2024! Unsubscribe! Dislike! Cancel on Xitter! Oh hey I'm in this video...neat. Nevermind, liked the video.
I know I know. Especially after your BG3 argument I feel bad because it really is such a great game.
What a wonderful list, at least the later half of it. I 100% agree with it! In all seriousness, loved working together on these videos with you while some or even most of the banter had to sadly be cut due to time reasons and... other... political correctness reasons...
I don't think many would want to hear the full 4 hour conversation we had lol. If they do then we go for a podcast and then our own Crypto Coin
@Prozeon rugpulling it is a no no though, just saying!
Is the game good yes, is it to its former glory... I can not answer with certainty since it does not look like fighting as one of the heroes is an option. Still it is a nice different at least.
Hearing a lot of good things about the demo. Good to see DW origins is looking like an improvement in some ways.
It was definitely a ton of fun for sure and the tactical button mashing was a nice change of pace
Into The Grid!
I'll be honest when it was in beta form I wasn't exactly sure how I felt but when the demo came out I was really impressed with how much fun it really was
I KNEW IT WAS LU BU. xD
Haha I knew he had to be waiting for me once I didn't see him on the map pre-battle. He's just so notorious for being the one to avoid for good reason
I have a feeling by the end, I'll feel like the protagonist could have been a woman and made 0 difference. If the reason is they didn't want to have to recprd 2 sets of voice lines, I wish they'd come out and say it.
That is a fair point. I didn't really think about it that much until it was brought up in the comments that if you are a nameless hero why not allow customization to them
Samurai warriors 4 and 5 is pretty awesome. The most recent dynasty warriors is the only one that really sucks. The rest of the games are pretty good, y’all are just dramatic
The last Dynasty Warriors game to be rated positively on Steam came out 10 years ago. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games have also been regarded poorly with recent releases. That's not really dramatic, it's just saying that these games that take place in China have not been doing so hot for whatever reason. I openly admitted I hadn't played this series in a while so I can't tell you personally if they were that good or bad, but I am saying that it's nice to see how excited people are for this series after a long drought of getting less than ideal releases.
I think if we could somehow have a full character customisation, the sales would fly to heaven
That would be a killer feature for sure. I think they were mostly focused on not having another Dynasty Warriors 9 situation, but it would still be nice to custom create something, especially if we are already playing a non-named protagonist.
I’m 99% sure it’s pronounced shir shwe guan but I might be wrong
totally fair. I am highly aware that I have no basis on telling people how things are pronounced, so I am 100% okay with being corrected
We are probably both wrong
Give a game where you can get 100+ combo and I'm happy. That's all I remember with the old games, was too much fun. Great video!
My first attempt had me at something like 1200 kills, so just a normal day at the office. That didn't really help anything other than my ego given my quick demise in the final battle.
I feel like a letdown to my parents and all of my ancestors but... I never got into the Dynasty Warriors franchise. It just never clicked with me. Nonetheless the game does look good and the video was great as always!
I get that. I fell out of it for a while, but this new fighting style is so much more engaging then the mindless button mashing. Thanks for the compliment :)
Do not pursue Lu Bu! Love this series so damn much. Hopefully they can fix their abysmal controller support on PC for the real release! Awesome work as always sir!
Oh trust me I did not pursue. I had no choice and I knew from the moment I saw he wasn't on the tactical map that he would be at the end. The fact that my third run had me running away to get health only to come back to an empty battlefield is just insane lol
Diceomancer started as a GMTK game, it's cool to see the concept expanded upon
That's pretty neat. I don't recall seeing it but there's been so many games made throughout GMTK's history of game jams and it's nice to see some of them become full games.
I remember seeing the developers of this game letting people try it out for the first time at a Dream-Hack convention. I was curious to try it out for my amusement until the guy unfortunately said I wasn't old enough to play it. Like come on man, just because i was 15 at the time didn't mean I was less mature than the weeb next to me who just suddenly bought a $300-$500 diorama with their credit card. (Heheh, it was fun there.)
Haha that's unfortunately part of the issue with just how vulgar it is. Also, I get what you mean by the whole diorama being okay but not letting you play the game. I worked a retail gig where it was real strict on what we could sell and I legit hard to card people over games otherwise I could literally face jailtime. On the other hand, I just learned that the team for this game intends on releasing some sort of toggle that will pull back on a lot of the vulgarity in the game for those who want to stream it, but then it feels like it would lose a lot of its identity.
Crazy how that works isn't it? I mean we know how to find our ways around things. I'm sure it'll be fiiiine.
Menace from the Deep looks too cool! Great vid!
It has a lot going for it. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. I'll be talking about it more in an upcoming video for sure.
Oh god... So many more games to wishlist... Great collection of deckbuilders, really like nearly all of them! If you keep them coming, I keep wishlisting 😂
Unfortunately (not really) my wallet will be feeling the repercussions of this video for sure.
I knew I've heard of this name before, just couldn't pinpoint where. Turns out the Devil's Dive developer made an image for this game, now it makes sense
I had not heard of Devil's Dive before. I'll be sure to check it out then
@Prozeon it's very cheap, it's a small and fun roguelike like downwell. I'd recommend it
Cool of you to give it a fair shot! Even if the dev seems like a really weirdly angry person.
I always try to stay impartial and just express what I observe. Every game has some value in my eyes and I think this one has a ton of potential to be a really great game if its tone wasn't set to 11/10 all the time.
i dont care if you said it was crass, the fact the sign said eat ass while the text said the locations was hillarious
I actually thought it was funny at first, but I had hoped that other signs said other things to keep the joke going which they did not. I think it just started to wear on me because of just how much relentless the crudeness was and sometimes it really just felt like there was no real reason for it.
@Prozeon Respectfully agree, your VE was interesting enough to get me to play some of the demo myself since commenting, and after interacting with everything in the starting house i was bored of the 'shit's and 'fuck's. Honestly a good video, cant wait to see what you upload next :)
@@ikepcyhscore8532 Yeah it definitely could use without almost every single interaction being one full of profanity. I appreciate the support :) I will have some newer style videos coming up to round off the year, but Demo Diving will always be here because there are so many good games out there that don't get the attention they deserve
damn its double mature
It literally hit me what you meant by that comment XD I have fixed the title so there is only one mature
there are some interesting mechanical ideas here, but goddamn, how have "mature" and "juvenile" become synonyms? people get so needlessly edgy trying to prove their interests aren't childish, and then they just sound like 13 year old boys because of it
I agree. I genuinely don't mind if games have swearing or adult themes in them, but it gets to a point where it's just trying too hard and you can tell it is just a way to drum up shock factor given how excessive it can be. I think this game could have some really great potential if it managed that sort of dynamic between serious and comedic, but what I played leaned almost entirely into the over the top "comedy" making it just seem childish at times. I hope the dev understands that they don't have to make every character curse on every line in order for them to be a memorable character.
I think that's why the emphasis is supposed to be the *EDGE* of Allegoria.
@@squeegel3904 Haha I thought about making that joke while writing the script for the video
This will be either a huge hook for me, or I'll end up hating it, and I can't tell which it will be lol
I'm hoping for a hook, but it really depends on if there are some changes to the game that will make traversal more tolerable. The crude humor was hit and miss but I got real tired of the encounters while navigating the dungeons.
Background music was really cool in this video. I like the potential of this, but yeah while I enjoy this humor, it seems to miss the mark a bit.
I think it just has an issue of trying too much to make you laugh or be surprised. A game shouldn't be at a 10 all the time otherwise it just feels like the same. The meta interaction implied a more real story, but all that was was the woman who used her charm to stay alive and everyone just used her to say crazy things, so it wasn't properly utilized. If there was a more serious tone every once in a while I think it would really help offset the forced humor.
While I highly enjoyed the early Pokemon games and this combat and progression system would work for me, I would not play through a whole game with this much crudeness since, as you mentioned, it would stand in the way of any form of immersion. Great video though!
Thanks. I do wish it had some tonal differences here and there to make it so it didn't just shove curse words and vulgarity into your face. I have no real problem with a game having that, but to do it all the time is a little much.
Don't think this one will be for me, the vulgarity wouldn't bother me, but I just don't really enjoy the old school GameBoy aesthetic all that much. Amazing work as always sir!
That's totally fair. I think a large screen is also a bit counterintuitive to using graphics from the handheld era.
See I love the aesthetic but can't stand the vulgarity I have enjoyed Isles of Sea and Sky and I get the handheld size and experience back by using the Steam Link app and a Backbone on my phone as a controller. I guess a Steam Deck would work too but I am too broke / stingy to find out quite yet
@@TheThinKing That's a good point. The aesthetic may not be pleasing to some and the vulgarity also may not be appeasing, so by having already knocked your target audience down with the aesthetic that some don't enjoy, the vulgarity dwindles it even further unfortunately. I think that is a better setup you've got than getting a Steam Deck, because I also am too broke to grab one of those lol
Cool aesthetics, if they added a co-op mode for someone else to control the tether, that could be interesting!
I like the idea of the spiritual movement to overcome obstacles but man this would frustrate me to no end...
It is a cool concept but I do wish that it wasn't so much trial and error in the name of being "challenging"
This one is...not for me. Like at all, but it does look awesome for the right crowd. Amazing work as always sir.
Yeah, I think the art is great and I do like the concept. I honestly felt like if the game was more like the open area where you explore the village at the beginning then I would love it
A 10 score, dang thats rare! But I can only agree after playing the demo myself and the visuals, story telling and all the other points you´ve mentioned just work so well. Great video as always!
I try to be really picky with those 10 ratings but I knew pretty early on that this was going to be one. It really is just a great mix of all components and I will 100% be picking it up when it releases.
Music: Prince of Persia, Gameplay: Slice n Dice, Family: Crusader Kings. Could be reallly interesting, but needs more Vin Diesel!
I knew a game revolving around family just needed at least one Vin Diesel reference. I'm pretty sure it's a law to include him lol. I will say this game shocked me with how much fun I had and all times I goofed were on me and not really a result of bad dice rolling.
Damn, really digging the visuals, but I'm not sold on the gameplay. Going to have to keep it on the wish list for a sale. As always sir, awesome work.
I probably could have spent more time speaking on the actual gameplay, but it was pretty neat. The art really is one of the strongest aspects though.
Amazing game, play it with Russian voiceover and English subtitles to feel like you're playing a surreal Dostoyevsky novel. Up there with Hellblade 1 in terms of quality and outshines Hellblade 2. Wonderful game with great themes and beautiful graphics.
Oooo I really should replay it that way. I definitely will be making a games of the year list and there's no doubt Indika will be pretty high on the list. I think it really caught me off guard on how deep the exploration of self is on it.
This game looks great! It also looks like a game I'd be terrible at though
Not that that will keep me from probably picking this up.
@@Kamicollo95 Haha I'll be honest that I goofed a lot playing this game until it just clicked on one of the playthroughs. I'm sure it will get much more difficult and put me in my place when it comes out though
I've played the demo and now that I see more cutscenes and "interviews" with the different characters I am even more hyped for this game. Absolutely brilliant idea for a game.
Trying to describe this game to non-gamers, heck even gamers for that fact, is a fun task. I think this idea shouldn't work as well as it does but I'm so happy that the devs are pulling it off because it really is unique.
God this game just oozes style out of every pore, in every way. It looks phenomenal.
It honestly reminds me of a kid's tv show that has a similar quirk to it and I love it. I am just stoked to see more from this game.
Why would anyone play this knock off when you can just as easily play advance wars rebootcamp? Why drink "dr.spice" when dr.pepper cost the same and is sold at the same place?
@@MARStheFORSAKEN there's nothing wrong with having both. Some people weren't thrilled with the Advanced Wars remaster that came out. I'm no expert in the field, but I can also see the potential of people just wanting more after they've played the same game over and over. It's not like Nintendo is in any real rush to make a new Advanced Wars
@@Prozeon thats the problem this is just the same 20 year old game but with less fixings, they didnt even bother to make each factions units different.
@@MARStheFORSAKEN That is something I failed to mention, so I appreciate you bringing that up. Each faction does have a specific unique unit. I could only play as that blue faction, but their faction specific unit was the Rhino. It's the super large vehicle that can push other units around and if they push a vehicle into the water or on a mountain or something it automatically defeats them. They can always add more too. It's totally alright if this isn't for you but maybe someone doesn't care for AW for it's more cartoon-like graphics and wanted something a bit more realistic. That's why I linked the video made by Mangs. That guy lives and breathes these type of games and while I don't 100% agree with everything he has to say, he definitely knows more about this than I do given that I'm still pretty new to this specific subgenre of turn-based games.
Looks like lots of fun, therefore Nintendo will inevitably crush this with a lawsuit.
@@donaldpetersen2382 haha I mean luckily this is distinct enough to get around the long arm of Nintendo lawsuits. If Wargroove "got away" with two games then this one should be safe because I think it has more in common with Wargroove than AW
Man, you're good at analysing games! Everything you said I was like, yup, that would annoy me too. Great video!
Thanks for the compliment! Luckily most of the issues I had are relatively easy fixes so it shouldn't hurt the end product much if it does or doesn't get fixed.
I am not the biggest fan of those types of games, especially after I played hours and hours of Fire Emblem when I was a kid, keeping the "burned out"-status alive and strong with this genre. Regardless, great video as always and glad you had fun with the demo.
I will say I did have to rethink my decisions after playing one map for 1.5 hours but in the end I realized that the powers that were absent would likely help those situations, so I didn't hold it against them. I definitely get the burnout status because I may have started a ton of these games, but I rarely finish them.
I did love me some Wargroove. They released a co-op campaign as well! This one could be good, I'll keep an eye on it for sure.
It's looking pretty sweet. I think the devs are keeping close to the communities of Wargroove and AW and have been listening to feedback, so hopefully it turns out well. I also hope they add more, not because there is a lack of content, but because I always want more commanders and factions in these types of games.
Haha that ending 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure what to put for the outro but the idea to recreate my summary of the game just made me laugh so I had to go with it.
You...kinda skipped over how the main gameplay works. Like, wdym they only do their job if you watch? Is that square your field of view?
Sorry. You have a box that acts as your vision and when tiles are within that space your workers are working to produce whatever resource intended by their tile. You can expand the tile up to a 3x3 grid, so you will always have tiles where your workers aren't working.
@@Prozeon No worries. It was just a bit confusing.
01:48 - I was not expecting this gameplay! Such an interesting concept! But yeah curious to see how the mechanics play out
I really do hope it becomes more difficult because there was one session of mindsurfing where I just stopped doing the puzzle because I knew I had built up more than enough time
I'm not the biggest fan of mystery games so I will skip this one, but it does look very appealing with a minigame and the three door section.
I generally don't care for mystery games since it is mostly play it once and your done, but if they've got a unique pull to them, then it does a lot to make me interested.
I do love me a good mystery! Oozing style helps it out a ton. Not sure how I feel about a tight time limit, but I get how to flows into the gameplay. Mind Bullet just makes me want to reread the Jeremy Robinson book of the same name.
Yeah I didn't realize that you have 5 days and the demo did go through one of those days. I ran out of time and they gave me free time because I just didn't do everything I needed to do and the game was trying to be nice. The days should hopefully be a little longer, since you start at night, but I will be interested to see where it goes for sure
