  • These US Classics were interesting to say the least! With the return of Simone and Shilese, it goes without saying that the top two AA spots are taken already. The field has definitely got more interesting with Jade and Jordan rounding out the top 4 in the AA, and things are getting mixed up as some gymnasts face consistency issues while others are rising to the occasion, making a name for themselves. Who will end up making that 2024 Paris Olympic Team? This video analyzes the potential team members' competitions at Classics and shows my predictions for the 2024 Paris Olympic Team. Comment down below what you think!!

      @mustawgym Месяц назад +9

@@cocoroni1031the one who’s coming for a top 3 AA is Suni.
She can outscore Jordan even with a FTY.
If Suni simply hits a 6.2+ bars and her beam at nats (and also the fact that she’ll be an AA threat), SHE’S ON THE TEAM FOR SURE.
If that happens, the only fight will be for the last spot. Jordan, Skye, Kayla… it’s not gonna be easy if they all hit.

@@mustawgym Jordan was messing around with her double layout on floor, and had a really bad handstand on bars and hence missed the connection. Again, Suni needs to show an *actual hit 6.1-6.3 bars to begin that AA conversation.

@@cocoroni1031 let’s see how the “messing around” goes for her at nats.
And if she had a really bad handstand they definitely didn’t took .5 for it, seeing how her score was. Her missed connection only cost 0.1.
Suni can upgrade her beam and do a much more solid fx (need to fix her double L turn tho), not to mention her UB potential.
Underestimate a reigning Olympic Champ is always not a wise thing to do.
So let’s see how it goes at nats about these two then we’ll talk.

This is why it's hard... For several, Core Classics was the first meet we've seen them at in a while. I really want to see Skye, Jordan, Josc, Kayla, Leanne and Tiana at Nationals. One great or not great meet isn't definitive. Josc looks like she needs time to build up endurance and consistency but that month between now and trials can make a huge difference to someone who has the skills but is coming back to competition after injury. Next week will tell us who is really consistent - one great meet for Jordan/Tiana isn't enough. They need to keep doing it. Kayla had a great meet at Winter Cup but not here, after all.

Yes!! Jordan (and Tiana) were scoring lower than both Kayla and Leanne all last year. It’s absolutely possible all 4 of them are in the running for a “third AA” spot but far too early to say who of them would make the team. Suni and skye are in a similar position. Though they could be “third AA” or bars/beam. There are lots of possibilities for a great team because the USA has so many great gymnasts. I agree with biles, Jones, lee, and Carey because biles Jones and lee will do bars/beam for team final. Then biles, and carey for vault and floor with Jones most likely the 3rd vaulter. The weakest spot on the team is the 3rd floor worker for team final and currently kaliya is a top 3 USA floor worker. I wonder if she’ll get a ticket to Paris solely for her floor routine.

@@cocoroni1031 that’s completely fair, but if suni pulls through that sets up a strong bars and beam line up with biles and Jones. I could see Kayla dicello cover that spot if she’s more consistent at trials since she is 14+ on all events when she hits. I think she’d cover suni’s spot but the reason why I think suni is still in the running is the difficulty she provides. She gives almost a full extra point on bars vs Kayla which could be crucial points USA needs. I think Kayla and Jordan are in the running for the 5th spot to cover gaps but suni gives a huge edge on beam and bars which is important on a beam/bars heavy quad since those events are scoring the highest. It will help compete against a really strong Chinese bars and beam lineup.

Skye DOESNT HAVE very high potential scores on all events. She needs to hit 8/8 on nats (not only that but score 14.2+ on bars and beam) to be in the conversation for the last spot on the team. A solid cheng would help her immensely -doubtful tho.
With Jordan’s hit routines at Classics (and the potential of improving fx) and Suni only looking better and better (almost a lock), Skye’s case is not looking that much nice, but at least one thing worked in her favor: Kayla’s mistakes.
If Suni simply hits at nats a 6.2+ bars and beam she’s on the team FOR SURE. She’s coming for top 3 AA and can do it even without a DTY.

There aren’t any major implications yet. She’s been holding off on showing bars to preserve her right to petition to do all around at championships, so it doesn’t mean she’s not ready or anything, just that she’s being strategic and aiming to peak at the correct time.

I'm a Suni fan. I told everyone who was still doubting her to stop and see ensnared the AA title in Tokyo. Many had the crown for gold/silver AA practically engraved for Simone/Jordan. I'll never say impossible. It is her health that is her biggest contender, not her ability or her performance.
She's going to be likely what Douglas was in 2016-- edged out due to the 2/Country rule but will be an indelible force to boost the team scores if she hits both beam/bars.
