That 8 second scene depicting the purgatory/hell that kid was trapped in will be cemented in my brain forever. Truly a horrific masterpiece of a scene.

So many scenes in this movie made me think about drug use and addiction. Especially during that montage where the teens are using the hand recreationally.

This whole movie is insane and SPOILER seeing that she died in the end was heartbreaking cause it reminds me of all those that either lost their life due to addiction or severe mental illneess like schizophrenia and that even in death they didn’t find peace only purgatory makes me cry thinking about it
As soon as they touched the hand too, their pupils would blow out (to an exaggerated degree, but still) and their breathing would slow, which is exactly what happens when you shoot heroin.
That part shocked me to my core and I never get that horrified but that was one of the more disturbing scenes I’ve seen in a while. Idk why it reminded me of evil dead which I love
What I really enjoyed about this movie was how symbolism could be seen between drug abuse and the hand. It all started off lighthearted and casual, like kids smoking weed at a party or doing molly at a festival, but this movie really dove into how recreational use can lead to a lifetime of psychosis and delusion for the victims of addiction. Reality and the perspective of the main character became so intertwined near the end that you truly couldn’t tell what was real and what was a ploy made by the demons to manipulate the main character. It felt like a heightened version of how many addicts think, especially those with schizophrenic symptoms. I’ve never seen a movie draw a complex metaphor so simply. All around a fantastic film!
I think that's why it was so upsetting and infuriating for me as someone who has cared for many people with drug addiction. It fell like a punch in the face every time Mia made a poor decision
“Hereditary” will eventually be considered one of the most influential films in the entire horror genre. The inspiration from that film can be seen all throughout “Talk To Me”. Really solid debut.

“Ever seen” bit hyperbolic there to be honest. Like the film but at times it definitely had pacing issues derived from impatience. Watch some more awesome films.
My guess would be that the colour is used to visually seperate Mia from everyone around her. The main palette was very blue and when she’s at home with her dad, her ‘yellow’ costuming really seperates from this space. As she gets more comfortable during the second seance, the lighting is much warmer so she ‘fits in’ more. At school their uniform is blue but she still had a yellow scrunchie. And the yellow scissors too. I think Mia is a very lost character trying to find meaning and her place again after her moms passing. But her grief still juxtaposes her own friends daily life until she finds a lot of comfort with the possessions. Yellow is the opposite colour to blue so I think that’s why they are both used as a base on the colour palette. Just my thoughts though
Mia and the candle were the most boldly yellow things in a very blue, cool-toned movie, which was so smart- it ties them together in your brain and makes them feel "important"
I foolishly drank an energy drink with 300 goddamn mg of caffeine in it before watching this movie and I felt like my heart was gonna fucking explode lmao
How did we do the same thing? Lmao I snuck one into the theater it was a reign which has 300 mg and about 3/4 into the drink I literally could feel my heart going nuts I was no longer tired lol
Lol I foolishly ate half a gummy good morning before sitting through this had to leave twice because I felt like I was gonna pass out in my heart was going to explode. No more gummy’s for me and especially not well watching on an A24 horror movie. SMH
That might be why it was so intense for me. I had Concept X pre workout (which is what I use for caffeine… highly recommend it.). And I had to pause midway through because it got to be too much for me. And that’s unusual
Bro that's nothing I had a triple beefaroni burrito cheesesteak rollie spiked with straight craque and saw the Annunaki three times while my toes curled into the back of my head and Randy Orton appeared in the shadows
I grew up a huge RackaRacka fan, so seeing Michael and Danny’s big break be received this warmly puts the biggest smile on my face. Hope that Street Fighter movie of theirs works out and that Hollywood treats them well🥲💜
@@petrovvskiii I read a couple comments while Karsten was doing the ad read, so no, at the time I had not gotten to the part where it was mentioned RackaRacka made the movie.
This movie made me feel and unsettled and uncomfortable, which i haven't felt watching a horror film for a while. Even the normal peer pressure scenes just felt uncomfortably real. Excellent film.
I was really disturbed by it but my bf acted unfazed. I feel like he has either been exposed to way too much or he’s a sociopath. He wasn’t even upset by seeing that poor guy get eaten by a shark in Egypt. 🤦♀️
That’s because usually in peer pressure scenes, the movie goes the extra length to have the people act like complete assholes. Here, they actually came across as a bunch of friends just trying to have a good time. Very realistic, thus nightmarish to think about the consequences 😮
the best part about this movie, is that the protagonists and friends are actually likeable, you feel part of that friendship group, knowing how the events affect each individual differently. and the ending man, i felt so sorry for her, watching her sanity slowly leave, seeing it from her perspective as well really brought me into how she must be feeling and how she felt like her actions were justified we got to see the impending doom of her just going insane from the torment of these ghosts.
To think RackaRacka made this film is what makes me cry by the thought of it. I'm so proud they've started from being lil kids making homemade WWE matches with their homies to becoming YT legends and now having a directorial debut distributed by A24. The child in me is jumping for joy for them 😭
Even though possession has been done a million times, this film felt so refreshing and original. The direction really carried this one, and of Sophie Wilde!
I just saw it in theaters today and my first reaction was "that’s how you do a horror movie." It’s a shame my theater literally had only one showing and it’s a Cinemark.
Imagine that scene could have been 2 minutes(as the directors themselves said during an interview). But they had to cut it to 20 seconds to avoid the 17/18+ rating as the scene was initially that grotesque and violent. They said they hid the frames in those 20 seconds though, and if one pauses and goes frame by frame they can see more hidden frames from the original cut.
I think the boy wasnt actually there rather it was a trick by the ghosts to get her to try to "save him" by killing him and thus they claim his soul forever. From the very first ghost that entered Mia they wanted the boy. They just used Mias vulnerability as an avenue to achieve that and exploit her weaknesses. Its fucked.
The fact they brought on their Rackaracka makeup artist as the lead of the makeup team for this made me really happy. I hope they hold onto that in the future, the people that were there to build them up when there was nothing to gain from it
If A24 releases a horror movie, you know it's going to be disturbing, crazy and weird to the point it can divided some people's reaction to the movie. Some people will like it, some don't, in other words it's an A24 horror movie
@@TheDarkforcemoviesits a given, when a24 himself is the one doing all the writing, directing, editing, cinematographing, producing, and all the acting and a24ing for these movies...
To be fair this was less divisive than other big mainstream horror success. It Got a B+ CinemaScore which was better than M3gan (B), Insidious (B) and Smile (B-). It was also far better than other A24 horror movies likes Hereditary (D+) and The Witch (C-). B+ is actually among the best ratings for horror movie and from memory the only ones higher were Get Out and Conjuring which got A-. Audiences ate this up.
I can name 30 other movies that had divisive reactions released in the modern era that A24 didn't produce. One of them, IS Talk to Me, because it wasn't produced by A24. Divisive horror films and indie cinema has been around long before A24. A24 didn't invent any of this. This whole "cult of A24" is so friggin exhausting
I agree with the comment on the final act being a nightmarish blend of reality and the separation from it. There’s a point where a character says that a past user “went schizo” and when I watched past that it made me really consider the weight of that statement. I’m a social worker at a behavioral health agency and my specific role is to work with people who are so sick they are court-ordered to be in psychiatric treatment. I’ve had some schizophrenic clients who stop me in the middle of a conversation to point at nothing and start trying to include whatever they see in the conversation (these clients are very sick and their experience is very real and distressing for them) and I’ve had some who, on multiple occasions, start crying, shutting down, laughing, or physically interact with nothing there because of internal stimuli (hallucinations/delusions). Watching a small demographic of that on screen gave me the same feeling I have when I’m with those clients. The filmmakers may have not meant for it, but what they created is a decent representation of reality for some people, which is actually terrifying.
And yes, some of these clients use drugs, but the majority of them are very sick and this has been their life for as long as they’ve known. You won’t be put on court-ordered psych treatment if the primary issue is drug use in my state because it’s meant to deal with mental health issues so severe that the patient is a danger to themselves or others on a chronic basis.
I come from a family of schizophrenics and this movie was terrifying for its realistic approach of delusion and the manipulation of reality causing paranoia-just wow!
Well I think it fits perfectly considering I have family who has schizophrenia due to drug use and its fucked up their brain for good. Using lsd, or other hallucinogens can have forever effects to sensitive people and damage them forever.
to me this movie was not the scariest movie of the decade BUT this was definitely the most unsettling of the year as of now. This was mainly sad with how the mom died and how that was a major thing for Mia but Sophia was a knock out and hope to see her in more movies with bigger companies
Agreed - I think it was really good, but no one can convince me this movie is anywhere close to “the scariest” when we have movies like Insidious out here 😭
While I was originally disappointed with the ending of the movie, it's grown on me a lot. The whole movie feels so fun while you're watching it in the perfect horror way, but then you sit on it and look back and realize just how messed up everything was. The dog? The feet? THE SINGING? All of it was so great.
It’s as almost as if the movie itself is this hand and we got our connection, our fun and our high while watching it, but when it comes to an end and we have to eventually break the connection and put the hand down, a person feels down while coming back from that high.
It's pretty cool to see Miranda Otto back in a great project. I highly recommend her new cult series, The Clearing starring her and Teresa Palmer. Ever since she finished her Lord of the Rings journey, she became pretty much an underrated actress
I feel like the only real difference between "elevated" horror and mainstream is EFFORT put into the story and characters.... y'know, the things that actually make you care about what happens
Im so glad I’m not the only one who felt like the hand was a symbol for drug abuse. Mia starts to use it to cope during a dark point in her life and even becomes addicted to it. Even the curse she goes through seems like symptoms of heavy drug use with hallucinations and paranoia. Riley’s scene where he gets hurt after just using the hand once made me think of ‘overdosing’ There’s even a scene with him earlier where he’s rejecting a cigarette
I saw this film FOUR times now and I can attest that this film is SO SO GOOD. The ending has stuck with me since the first time I saw it. If you’re considering this film, watch it!!!
I'm so happy you covered this film on your channel. I loved every second of it and am happy it is getting as much recognition as it is. Also a suggestion of a movie that isn't getting as much recognition as it should is They Cloned Tyrone. I didn't see it logged on your Letterbox'd but it is an amazing film on Netflix that just happened to release the same weekend as Barbie and Oppenheimer
the last movie that terrified me was hereditary, I love watching horror films. something about the adrenaline of being scared is why I enjoy them, that said it’s been while since I had that feeling. this movie had me so damn nervous and on my seat, especially with what happened with riley just had me feeling sick. this is what our grandparents or parents must have felt when Exorcist first came out or poltergeist. one of those movies that just really warp your perception and pulls you in and feel so horrified.
The selfish irrationality of the portrayal of grief certainly was disturbing. the father is also seeking connection in his grief just like Mia is. He told her the truth in what she wanted to know and was likely right in assuming she couldn’t handle the truth in the note in a healthy way. He was reaching out to Mia out of love, while Mia was ignoring the needs of others who are experiencing the same pain as she is and reached out for connection with the person that decided to abandon her instead of the one that was still here…..
I’m very hard to please when it comes to horror movies, but this film hit all of my expectations. It was executed so well, easily a new favorite. I never go to see horror films anymore unless their obscure because a lot of horror films overuse the same cliche tropes and tricks. This was somehow different. Wasn’t a masterpiece but somehow was exactly what it needed to be.
I saw it on theatre and My God it was GOOD. I loved Sophie's performance and I loved the fact that they used the right amount of drama in the right dose. You feel sorry, you feel scared, you feel stunned with the ending by the way they managed it, I think in the wrong hands the ending would've been boring or not relevant.
I am so glad that A24 picked up this movie. I dont think that this movie would have blown up much if it was picked up by someone else. Saw this movie on a Saturday in a packed theater and it was such a blast! The movie was more creepy and gory than horrific but thats what makes the movie so good. Please go watch it!
Even before the premiering at Sundance this move had already been picked up by a big film studio, but their notes regarding the plot and actors went against the directors’ original vision and they decided to go independent. That big studio wanted to form the movie into a traditional, cliche possession story. They wanted them to film in the US and to hire american actors because they didn’t want australian accents etc. I’m glad the directors rolled the dice and went an independent route. It proved they originally had an amazing concept. Can’t imagine the version we could have had, ruined by some blumhouse or lionsgate straight into insidious/conjuring/pope’s exorcist nonsense.
NO BUT THE SFX IN THIS MOVIE IS INSANE, I CLOSED MY EYES THE WHOLE TIME RILEY WAS HURTING HIMSELF BUT MY EARS WAS TELLING ME EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW LIKE WTF
I'd say the kangaroo motif is extremely well done as it acts as a running theme for the character Mia and how the conflicting dilemma of to kill as a means to benefit another sentient being comes up again and again both at the beginning and the end of the film, which makes the film, the story, and the way it is delivered that much more well-rounded and expertly crafted.
Michael and Danny started out traumatizing kids with their iteration of Ronald McDonald, and now they're at Hollywood making what is considered one of the scariest movies in modern day. Think they could make a Street Fighter movie amazing? YES. YES! OF COURSE!
I saw it as a depiction of dangers of the internet and how the youth will do anything to get clicks, especially if it leads to anarchy and even terror. I might be stretching, but it's such a genius way to tell it, using the subtle ways to making you think it's about something truly different
It’s about searching for connection and validation of any kind and in any way when you are desperate, lonely or both. Nothing about the anarchy or inflicting terror tf. It’s basically one huge metaphor for addiction and dealing with grief.
For the very first time in my movie going experiences, I actually contemplated walking out the theater during the hospital scene. Definitely disturbing , overall fantastic movie and performance from all the actors
One of my favorite things is the realness of the phones. Especially in the beginning ( SPOILER !!! ) when we see the dude get stabbed by his brother at the party and people run but still have their phone’s out recording 😭 a lot of peoples first thought when seeing something scary and dangerous is funnily enough to get it on their phones
I feel like I missing something here because this was the most by the numbers horror movie I've seen in a while. And honestly comparing Mia's actor to Toni Collette made me question your judgement.
@benbadger1072 EXACTLY, I recently rewatched pearl and MY GOD, her performance is literally better than I remember?? And I already thought it was amazing before...
@@thatweirdbwah_ she’s a force of nature. “X” and “Pearl” are both awesome (especially “Pearl”), but my favourite is “Infinity Pool” - that film absolutely rocks and is fucking terrifying :)
Tbh, horror movies are usually like porn, lame acting, lame plot, lame concept, good money scenes. This movie felt the other way around. Good acting, good concept, good emotional stakes but the scares here feel like more body horror than the usual feel good horror. Halfway through it just became almost torture porn when the poor kid got possessed. Was so excessive it just kinda threw the whole thing off. And the main characters arc about her family is not really settled or well rounded off tbh. It has alot of great things, like the acting and costume design going for it, but also alot of things that didn't tbh.
Talk to me is part of the "Game show horror" genre, where the title of the film is what the players in the game are expected to do. "Don't Breath", "Get Out", etc are the same
Rackaracka ofc had to fit something grotesque in, Everytime i saw the kid after that SECOND scene, i just covered my eyes partially in case, actual psychological damage
The directors also said during an interview that that scene was originally supposed to last 2 whole minutes. But they had to cut it to 20 seconds to avoid an adult rating, as the scene had originally been so brutal and gruesome. They hid the frames out of it in those 20 sec tho. They also plan to release the unrated director’s cut where the scene will be shown fully.
There are many reasons why I really liked this movie, but one of them is how much the characters felt like real modern young people. Bodies Bodies Bodies was similar IMO. I think they both do a good job capturing the inherent connection people to have to their devices, a lot of movies will attempt to take place in the present but leave out smartphones even though most of us are undeniably attached to them in a way that significantly alters our behavior.
When I first saw the movie I thought It was gonna be a bad film with no actual horror just the occasional jump scare but this movie was so good and I wish I could watch it ALL OVER AGAIN.
The conversation around this film and the vague concept of “Elevated Horror” has been fascinating to me. When faced with Horror films made with an undeniable craft, reviewers who’ve always undervalued horror went about separating those films from the rest. “This isn’t horror, it’s complex and well made. Elevated.” The celebrated horror films of the last half decade have all fallen under that category, and it’s worked until now. Talk to Me has garnered similar fanfare, without the self serious tone of those “Elevated” films that came before. This is a jumpy kinda funny unpretentious horror, and the filmmaking is undeniably solid. I think this’ll move the conversation forward, like Hereditary did. But, it’ll follow in the footsteps of something like Barbarian. Craft is craft, and genre cannot negate that.
@@MarcelloMOV didn’t fully work for me either, but the consensus amongst audiences and critics was that it was a well made horror that fell outside of the “Elevated Horror”. Like that film, Talk to Me will hopefully expand the scope of what kind of horror film can gain acclaim from critics and adoration from people outside of the horror bubble
@ 6:53 Truer words have never been said! The ending was the best in the sense that the main character suddenly realizes what has happened and it ends very abruptly so you don't get a chance to see how the character processes the realization of what has happened, but you can still empathize with the situation.
I'm a horror fan and I checked this out. I'm also VERY sensitive to eye stuff, so I kinda regretted it, lol. One thing that bothers me though, was [spoilers below] Mia's mom's death. It's never resolved. She said Mia's dad was lying when he told Mia it was Self Crit, and claims her death was accidental. Then she tries to get Mia to kill the kid. This makes no sense to me. I'm upset they never even tried to resolve this. They just dropped the plot thread altogether when the spirit tricked Mia into stabbing her dad.
Pretty sure it was resolved. She did kill herself on purpose, and the note the dad reads was her note. I’m also pretty sure the spirit was just imitating her, and we see the full spirit of what it is at the end of the movie
Spoilers: I understand your gripe but I feel like it was intentional. From the scene in the beginning of the movie, we see that kid say his dad wants him to kill his brother and himself to prevent them from hurting others. We also know the dead can shapeshift like how one became Mia’s dad and choked her. The mom was never actually her mom, she was being tricked the whole time. The ghost was using her grief to create a believable reason for her to kill Riley (and maybe herself too) so that they would become trapped in limbo on the other side of the hand, like we see happens at the end. I really had to think about it afterwards but this is what I believe is happening. But it’s left ambiguous because the story is told from Mia’s perspective and she doesn’t know she is being tricked
@spearmintlatios9047 it's not really ambiguous tho. We're told to believe the mom accidentally took too many sleeping pills, which I think was intended to be an obvious lie? Idk I thought accidentally od'ing on sleeping pills was odd but ignored it. Clearly she wants to believe her mom would never leave her, isolation/feeling abandoned being a pretty big theme for Mia. We learn ghosts can mimick people which Mia refuses to believe since the ghost called her Mi. Then we learn the dad has the note from the mom confirming it wasn't an accident. This ties in with the end, the moms depression leading to not wanting be hurt anymore and not cause any harm on those she cared about and Mia pretty much going down the same route. Being not only tormented by the spirit but also her depression from being isolated from family/friends. It gets so bad she thinks almost yeeting the brother is best thing to do but decides to yeet herself to stop her pain and from inflicting pain on someone else.
Talk to Me was the most heartbreaking film I've watched in a while. the ending in darkness for Mia was horrifying and will stay in my mind for a while. also the way Riley was in hell/limbo was literally traumatizing
This A24 film called Talk To Me is everything horror fans will ever want in a film or show. The ambience is nothing but quite unsettling, but also evokes a certain type of emotion that'll help you understand what these characters are/were going through. We all know for certain just how much A24 invests in films like these. They're uniquely special in their own ways.
the kid might have survived but i dont think he even understands what his name is, like can he even think or eat or is his brain still alive? I am still traumatized from him destroyng his head. never watching that movie again. Good movie but disturbing
I saw this poor riley like WTH 1: it’s not Mia’s fault she didn’t know this was gonna happen 2: it’s the mom she did it because the spirits control them so it’s mom’s fault Don’t watch if you hate blood or love you organs and want them intact Same with blood
While I haven’t seen the movie, I wanted to propose a theory about the current status of horror that I want to see if people agree with - I feel like the horror that impacts someone is a generational thing. As an older Gen Z, (i’m 22) I feel like a lot of the newer directors are able to capture a specific feeling with their movies nowadays. They’re usually around my age, so I can imagine they grew up getting tired of the same types of overused cliches and gimmicks that I got tired of. I feel like that makes a lot of modern horror tailor made for Gen Z or younger millennials at the moment cause we’re all starved for new stuff that does away with the old and pushes a new boundary. Along with that, I believe every generation has their “own” horror genre. Boomers had creature features, Gen X had slasher flicks, millennials had found footage/supernatural religious stuff. If I had to say what genre applies to Gen z, I’d say it’s cosmic horror, or any horror that leans into fears of the unknown or hopelessness. Just a thought. Anybody agree or have their own opinions on it?
That 8 second scene depicting the purgatory/hell that kid was trapped in will be cemented in my brain forever. Truly a horrific masterpiece of a scene.

This was one of the most well-paced movies I've ever seen. Not a second was wasted. I also loved the allegory for addiction. Really great debut
Yes perfect way of putting it I also felt undertones of this is how schizophrenics must feel too especially towards the end! This whole movie is insane and *SPOILER* seeing that she died in the end was heartbreaking cause it reminds me of all those that either lost their life due to addiction or severe mental illneess like schizophrenia and that even in death they didn’t find peace only purgatory makes me cry thinking about it

“Ever seen” bit hyperbolic there to be honest. Like the film but at times it definitely had pacing issues derived from impatience. Watch some more awesome films.
Did anybody notice mia's clothes throughout the movie?? She was wearing yellow up until it seemed like she really lost it
Yea..even yellow handled scissors!! What does yellow represent?
Damn, I feel this comment.

The child in me is jumping for joy for them 😭
Ye bro I did not expect those guys to be the ones who made this movie
Even though possession has been done a million times, this film felt so refreshing and original. The direction really carried this one, and of Sophie Wilde!
Seeing this movie made me feel genuinely sick. That is SO RARE
Same here! I even had to close my eyes during those awful self mutilation scenes!
I just saw it in theaters today and my first reaction was "that’s how you do a horror movie." It’s a shame my theater literally had only one showing and it’s a Cinemark.
A24 and Jordan knows how to create horror
The scene when mia sees where a certain characters soul is and whats happening to it absolutely fcked my day up. I loved it😂
Imagine that scene could have been 2 minutes(as the directors themselves said during an interview). But they had to cut it to 20 seconds to avoid the 17/18+ rating as the scene was initially that grotesque and violent. They said they hid the frames in those 20 seconds though, and if one pauses and goes frame by frame they can see more hidden frames from the original cut.
bro that shit was nuts they were fking raping and eating him at the same time and you only noticed it for like a 2nd
I hope they hold onto that in the future, the people that were there to build them up when there was nothing to gain from it
my favorite part is the sound effect on that knife in the opening scene
first time i’ve been genuinely scared/unsettled in a film since hereditary. so well done
If A24 releases a horror movie, you know it's going to be disturbing, crazy and weird to the point it can divided some people's reaction to the movie. Some people will like it, some don't, in other words it's an A24 horror movie
Blah blah blah
They’ve released some stinkers over the last couple years I’m not gonna lie but they also have gems
I love watching videos analyzing and reviewing disturbing movies that I’ll never watch. Thanks Karsten.

to me this movie was not the scariest movie of the decade BUT this was definitely the most unsettling of the year as of now.

Reading "the dog, the feet, the SINGING?" when I haven't seen the movie yet is filling me with dred 😅
I got so shocked from the feet thing, that I forgot all about the dog thing until now 💀😭
It’s as almost as if the movie itself is this hand and we got our connection, our fun and our high while watching it, but when it comes to an end and we have to eventually break the connection and put the hand down, a person feels down while coming back from that high.

yeah “elevated” is a bullshit adjective unless you’re referring to physical height
That opening scene will always stick with me, I cannot wait to watch this again
Im so glad I’m not the only one who felt like the hand was a symbol for drug abuse. Mia starts to use it to cope during a dark point in her life and even becomes addicted to it. Even the curse she goes through seems like symptoms of heavy drug use with hallucinations and paranoia.
Riley’s scene where he gets hurt after just using the hand once made me think of ‘overdosing’
There’s even a scene with him earlier where he’s rejecting a cigarette
its a pretty obvious allegory
I saw this film FOUR times now and I can attest that this film is SO SO GOOD. The ending has stuck with me since the first time I saw it. If you’re considering this film, watch it!!!

They really outdid themselves with this one. So horrifying, emotional, and relatable, and damn was that ending brilliant!
the last movie that terrified me was hereditary, I love watching horror films. something about the adrenaline of being scared is why I enjoy them, that said it’s been while since I had that feeling. this movie had me so damn nervous and on my seat, especially with what happened with riley just had me feeling sick. this is what our grandparents or parents must have felt when Exorcist first came out or poltergeist. one of those movies that just really warp your perception and pulls you in and feel so horrified.

The selfish irrationality of the portrayal of grief certainly was disturbing. the father is also seeking connection in his grief just like Mia is. He told her the truth in what she wanted to know and was likely right in assuming she couldn’t handle the truth in the note in a healthy way. He was reaching out to Mia out of love, while Mia was ignoring the needs of others who are experiencing the same pain as she is and reached out for connection with the person that decided to abandon her instead of the one that was still here…..
seeing an early screening of this is the biggest w of my life

I’m very hard to please when it comes to horror movies, but this film hit all of my expectations. It was executed so well, easily a new favorite. I never go to see horror films anymore unless their obscure because a lot of horror films overuse the same cliche tropes and tricks. This was somehow different. Wasn’t a masterpiece but somehow was exactly what it needed to be.
So happy you did a video on this. It deserves all the praise
the montage of them partying with the hand before Rielly goes to far is Tango by Adam North best moment in the movie of me.

Easily one of the best horror movies I've seen since Hereditary, it was incredible.

Can’t imagine how proud you guys are, cause I would be!
YES. YES! OF COURSE!
The scene with Riley and the spirits was genuinely very upsetting, to the point where I got a little mad that they made me see that.
I absolutely love how even though there is no “happy ending” the ending is not disappointing at all

Great movie! And the child actor was one of the best performances of a child that I have ever seen!
that dog was the biggest victim of the whole movie
What do you mean by it’ll follow in the footsteps of barbarian? I think barbarian was subpar compared this film.
@@MarcelloMOV didn’t fully work for me either, but the consensus amongst audiences and critics was that it was a well made horror that fell outside of the “Elevated Horror”. @ 6:53 Truer words have never been said! The ending was the best in the sense that the main character suddenly realizes what has happened and it ends very abruptly so you don't get a chance to see how the character processes the realization of what has happened, but you can still empathize with the situation.
I entered the movie about 20 minutes in with my mom. After a while i was like "this is better than i thought it would be", i told her. Sad ending.
I'm a horror fan and I checked this out. I'm also VERY sensitive to eye stuff, so I kinda regretted it, lol. One thing that bothers me though, was [spoilers below]
Mia's mom's death.
Spoilers:
I understand your gripe but I feel like it was intentional.
I saw the oval outline of the plastic eye thing and that made it a lot less horrific to watch.

While I haven’t seen the movie, I wanted to propose a theory about the current status of horror that I want to see if people agree with -
I feel like the horror that impacts someone is a generational thing.
