Joost Klein dedicated this song to his father, who died when he was 12 years old due to cancer. His dad taught him that the world has no actual boundaries. His mother died a year later, when he was 13, due to cardiac arrest. Before his dad passed, Joost was already writing all kinds of stuff and promised one day he was going to go to Eurovision. He has gone through so many challenges in life, and it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with them.

Though I am Dutch I had never heard of him and just like you upon first hearing this song I was blown away. Dutch hardcore finally making it to the Eurovision stage is a win

I had never heard of him until the announcement that Joost would participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. I was quite skeptical beforehand, but after hearing Europapa I was convinced. Normally I don't like this kind of music very much, but I found this song very interesting and very well made. Just like you, I also wanted to know and hear more from Joost and I was pleasantly surprised bij songs as ‘ Wachtmuziek’ , ‘Friesenjung’ en ‘Florida 2009’. It’s great that Joost now represents us with this special song. He is already a winner!
