That’s why most of us like Joost. He is very open and very relatable, especially his struggles. It’s rare to see an artist be so open and interactive with his fans too. He is just a likable person which is why i really hope he will win, he deserves it imo.

9:57 Dutch charts: Europapa is in the ‘singles top 100’ for the 10th week in a row. First 5 weeks on a #1 position, currently #3. What I do experience is that Joost made many many Dutchies enthusiast about the song, him AND the ESC. Normally a part of our population loves to see the ESC and another part couldn’t care less. This year feels so different! From small kids till elderly people, they all fell in love with Joost and Europapa. The press and content makers are on top of it. It has a lot to do with his positive message, his energy and charismatic personality.

Europapa went song went straight to number one in The Netherlands. Never before has this happened with any other Eurovision song. Of all the Eurovision songs on Spotify, Europapa is by far the most listened to (44.5 million streams). It has been listened to twenty times more often than the number two most popular song which is from Italy. Thanks for your support for the Netherlands and your brother from another mother 💚

4:11 According to Joost: If he had seen a Eurovision performance with a big jolly blue bird as a child, he would have thought that was the most attractive performance. The blue bird 😅 symbolizes his happy inner child. The blue bird represents open-mindedness in its act. He hopes to inspire the youth with this. In addition, he finds the symbolism of a bird in general very beautiful.

2:45 Joost is taking everything he’s dreamed of and making it reality. I honestly believe he cares more about living his dream and inspiring people than about the number of points he can score. Not saying he doesn’t want to score btw! The last few days he’s talking quite a bit about how he wishes to inspire others (and specially the next generation), to be creative, to follow your dreams (Dream Big = Dream Big) and to not give up when you’re feeling down or being bullied or otherwise excluded. He was bullied as a child.

6:32 You’re right! Joost loves his best friends like family. They are all part of the creative team, joining him to Sweden.
- Teun aka Tantu Beats. As his regular producer and best friend, they worked together for months on Europapa (no label, self-released). Teun is in the music video (the middle man in the windmill scene and as the dj imitating Max Verstappen).
- Appie (bird) is in the music video (giving 12 points and playing keyboard next to the windmill).
- Martijn (festival goer) is in the music video (the guy on the mobility scooter in the white suit and playing keyboard next to the windmill).
- Gover (the creative director who’s responsible for the ESC act and performance) is in the music video (the guy on the mobility scooter in the red suit).
- Indy. The man who created the chorus dance for the music video, will also be one of the dancers on stage in Malmö.

I believe he’s referring to ‘The Last Supper’ scene where he shares the food with people who understand his Eurovision dream (Rene Froger and S10 are former Dutch participants. His friend Donnie is one of the lyricists of Europapa. Emma was giving the points on behalf of the Netherlands in 2019, the year we won with Arcade).

Since last year people from non-participating countries can vote as well. It’s called ‘the Rest of The World vote’. The Rest of the World vote is added together and has the same weight as a single country. BUT…this online voting starts 24 hours BEFORE the semi finals and 24 hours BEFORE the final. When the live shows starts ‘the rest of the world’ voting will be closed. As far as I understand you must watch all the videos (snippets) from the ‘dress rehearsals’ before you can actually vote.

4:16 I'm sure William's comment was a wink to food 🍗. Everyone plays their role in this interview. Appie is not Appie for a moment, but a large blue symbolic bird. He introduces himself cackling 🤣 to the interviewer. William completely plays along and approaches him as a chicken, not as a human being. Martijn (he plays the role of ‘an enjoying festival goer’, while speaking English with a very thick German accent on purpose 🙉) tells William not to call the bird 'fried chicken' because this might hurt the bird’s feelings. William didn’t make a racist comment. At best it was animal unfriendly 😉.
