Caesar's Legion was by far my favorite episode. I can't possibly think of a way to improve the show, don't change a thing. As for the storyteller? Easy! I just don't want to spoil your amazing life changing secret.
That's it, they just don't care about their own History, all they want is Nuka-Cola. Well I wanted to be reminded of all the places I've been and all the things I've done. I had completely forgotten about Harold the tree and how he totally freaked me out the first time I spoke to Him, and a thousand other details that I had forgotten as well. This was a great telling of the story, thanks to all concerned.
I love this series because it gives visual representation of a great story. It's better than just slogging through wiki pages to find every little nugget of information. Thank you for doing this show and I look forward to season 2!
I just stumbled upon this series in major anticipation of fallout 4. I really hope you guys read this. This series was complete gold. I have been watching it as much as possible for the past 2 days. I should be able to finish the rest by the time fallout 4 comes up. It will completely catch me up. Thank you guys so much. I sincerely appreciate all your effort. See you in the wastes!
Yeah same here. Before fallout 4 came out I had seen the trailer and got interested so I looked up fallout related stuff and came across this series. What was pretty neat was my family and I had to move to a place called twentynine palms in southern california which is pretty much a part of the Mojave desert so watching this series felt really authentic
RIP Jason Damron, the legend of the storyteller is up there with the vault dweller and all the other greats of the series. May your stories continue to inspire fans of the series.
Holy shit the fact that the mysterious stranger was the narrator makes perfect sense. Of course he would know all of this shit! He was LITERALLY there for ALL of it!
As I have stated from the very beginning of this lore series, the Shoddy Cast crew has indeed stayed true to the lore of this most wonderful franchise, on behalf of all those who appreciate on what you do and how you have brought some justice to the Fallout universe, I thank you. -Jeff Xavier P.S. my most favorite episode was when you went into the lore and history of the Legion. AVE TRUE TO CEASER!
These are really brilliantly written & expertly composed. This is by far some of the best content for the genre. Thank you for all the work & effort that went into putting it all together.
Brilliant, loved it. Makes me want to actually play the games now. I was never able to really get into them but you managed to make the story come alive.
The Fallout series is one of my favourites. I just wanted to say thank you for a very entertaining and informative first season of this lore series. Keep up the good work, guys! I'll try to donate when I'm able :)

Just love this series, hats off to all who was involved in bringing us this amazingly detailed series, with such great production values that explain so much, while being entertained and engulfed in our much loved Fallout environment. Thank you ShoddyCast :)
This video has two things I hate about what Bethesda did to Fallout xP Making it impossible to Harold be in every main game of the series by effectially ending his story in Fallout 3 and making G.E.C.K. to be actual terraforming device instead of agricultural kit its supposed to be
Franciszek Rychlewicz No shit. Every company wants to make money. However, I highly doubt Bethesda knew that some niche game would sell as well as it did. I don't think Fallout is Bethesda's evil greedy money maker.
Bob was already intended to outgrow Harold and stuck him, by Interplay & Black Isles long ago. It is pretty fitting with the Harold/Richard Grey backstory as they both fused with other beings, both gained a different shape and new power, both got stuck somewhere. Except that The Master raised an army while Harold made the wasteland greener. By the way, there is no need to have Harold or a dog companion in every episodes.
Poor Harold, he turned into a tree but no one in the Capital Wasteland seems to grasp the concept of farming and plant caring even after 200 years of survival, so his suffering is probably never gonna end. Maybe the radiation in DC has turned the people there into absolute morons.
Ground's too irradiated to actually grow anything. Just because the people can't do something doesn't mean their stupid. I mean unless they go into a valley like Zion not much agriculture will be getting done for several hundred more years.
Corbin Cavitt Except, that's not how it works.... "Ground to iiradiated"? Fallout 1 already had people growing crops and that one happened far closer to the original nuclear holocaust, New Vegas takes place in the freacking Mojave and people are growing crops. THe DC people also seem unable to boil and filter water because they are perfectly happy irradiated water for 2 centuries and need a magic machine to "purify" it, and it purifies the water by dumping it into the ocean too so,,,, I guess it's all just bad writting on the part of Bethesda. Also if the Ground is too irradiated to grow anything for 200 years, you know what would happen? They wouldn't be able to survive. And no, scavenging would barely be viable after the first decade.
Corbin Cavitt They also seem to need a book to tell them that they can eat mole rats and hwo to hunt them, so they don't even seem to grasp the cocnept of Hunting either. The only explanation is that the cthulhu obelisk in the stupid enchanted house is the only thing keeping all those idiots alive for generations....
Corbin Cavitt I mean, they also seem to need a book to tell them where to Scavenge, even after 200 years of not hunting, or farming.... How do they survive? Do they eat sand for minerals?
@@paulnightwolf4170 its dead. The moment I believe Austin left to game theory it went down. But so long ago can’t recall. Worst part is fallout 5 is so far away XD.
I first wandered into this season because austin had the storyteller do a little story tellin in one of his science videos, and I wondered how he managed to get a professional voice actor to stop by his channel. Which led me to here. Glad I made that journey!
After meeting two legends and living a long, hazardous, life, he was cursed to stay in the ground, where his pain let the land around him to be reborn. He loses, everyone else wins.
Wow thank y'all so much! This series is so awesome to watch and of course take a break. If it helps y'all replenish everything to continue the series to make it even greater than I say do it! Thanks again!
I love playing skyrim and have put way too many hours into it. Would you recommend getting one of the games in the fallout franchise and if so which one?
I would say play fallout three first, followed by new vegas and the fallout 1 followed by 2. Fallout new vegas has better gameplay (and story) in my opinion, and its easier to move up the chain than down.
Fallout 3, when it was released literally sweeped the floor compared to most other games that came out the same year. It got a 91 meta score on PC (great score) and a 90/93 for ps3/Xbox360 (also great). If you like exploration, and adventure, and dark humor, i would definitely get fallout 3 first. Its also the most new player friendly out of all the options, so just starting out in the fallout franchise using that game is a good choice. If you pay an extra ten bucks you can also get the game of the year addition and get all five DLC's with it. The main story line alone, even if you speed through will get you AT LEAST, 8 hours of gameplay, but if you take your time like you should, and explore, take in all there is to see, and do the DLC's you'll get well over 200 hours of gameplay out of the game, and then still want to do it all over again by the end. Just look up some reviews for it, ign, gamespot, all of them will probably get you wanting to play it. Not to mention the setting in DC is just awesome. Being able to explore the ruins and such. Fallout New Vegas would probably be your next pick, as its a step up in difficulty, and it pays a lot more homage to the older fallout games. This game builds upon the formula in Fallout 3 and ads its own minimalistic feel to it. Playing it recently, i felt that the whole game up until i was a considerably high level, was a respectable challenge (at normal difficulty), and if you like to have a mild challenge, and learn more about he lore of the fallout universe, New vegas is definitely the next step up. Fallout 1 and 2 are oldy PC games. I would get them last if not at all. The only reason i would get them now is if your a hardcore fan that wants to learn more about the roots of the fallout lore/lineage. Other then that i can say they are considered PC classics and are very hardcore. They are not easy games to beat, thats for sure. so yeah, there you go!
All of them, you may need to sell one of your kidneys, but the other will thank you by whispering in your ear the next night that the other kidney was a douche anyway
All of them, 1 and 2 are free and fallout 3 is pretty awesome but the story is not the best, fallout NV is pretty cool in my opinion so... It's up to you in which order you want to
Thanks so much for doing this series. I love Fallout, I've played them all, and the lore is so complex. Over the years, things just slip your mind. To have a record like this is wonderful, to watch the episodes and seeing things you've forgotten puts a smile on my face.
Why do most of you guys think that the narrator is the Mysterious Stranger? He makes a reference to being the guy who stopped a big problem in a "hillbilly Backwater" which is a prefect description of the Point Lookout DLC for Fallout 3. This makes him 101, the player character from Fallout 3. What Shoddy Cast is saying is "The Storyteller is you."
The character appeared in 4 épisodes, going in all the Wasteland, over many years withouth his identity been revealed. He has no defined voice, and the sound he used to disapear just made all doubt disapear. That sound is only used by the mysterious stranger and his magnum, it define him. Fortunately, it wasn't Dogmeat...
Jack Man That's like asking "How is Vanilla Coke Made?" Nuka Cola Victory is under the trademark of Nuka Cola. Obviously they're from the same company.
I must say that these are best explanations about fallout universe i have ever found online. You told us so many new informations but still left room for us to discover something new ingame too. Great. Work.
The Storyteller has now joined the other legends of the wasteland, embarking on one final adventure. He’s probably wandering around and telling stories out there. Somewhere…

He’s been a massive contribution to the Wasteland and the Fallout community. He’ll be dearly missed. And like war, THAT will never change.
You’re god damn right…
This "storyteller" person knows too much. We need to silence him as soon as possible before he uncovers things we don't want him to uncover.
Hard to do that when you still have the Fawkes-induced-smashed-head-syndrome at it's final stage.
:D
RuSosan fakwes, talks about peace and non violence, turns into a damn maniac when enemies attack
I think he's god,you cant kill god (can you?).
Hard to do that with the Lone Wanderer on your ass. :-)

I CAN KICK THAT LITTLE MAGGOT'S MORON ASS!

I just met Harold in Fallout 1 a few months ago...

Im sorry, I killed him in Fallout 3.
+Lando Lanstetter you fulfilled the man's last wish, it's the best you can do
+Joshua McLeod (Prometheus319)
nope.
Official Me yup
+Joshua McLeod (Prometheus319) You could convince him to be happy and spread his trees through the wasteland.
There needs to be a mod for NV that adds "The Storyteller" as a random encounter somewhere out in the wasteland.
That'd be cool, only instead of shooting them he instead talks their ear off with his stories.
Then I can use that ear for caps.
***** Yeah saw that last week too, it's a companion mod though so it's a bit different to what I suggested.
That guy would need more spoken lines than whole game in itself :D
Here from the future, it became a thing 👌🏻
Marshy Mellow fallout 4 or new vegas?
the storyteller needs to be a random encounter in the next fallout game
like miaque the liar in the elder scrolls
Unlikely, it's clearly The Lone Wanderer, aka 101. This means that your character in fallout 4 would be encountering your character from Fallout 3... In other words, the Storyteller is you.
Kyle Rhulain still sounds good to me even though i dont think he actually is supposed to be the lone wanderer anyway

+jagarcia0705 I bet his name is Bob.
Meme Stealer Nah, gotta be Abraham or Abe for short. It'd be pretty cool.
his name is Jason. ironically that's the name of the voice actor and talks about Jason as being a "strong handsome initiate" on his Helios One Video
This reminds me of that one Fallout 3 mini quest where you have to figure out a BOS soldier's name
@Silver Team Gaming No, his name is Gary.
The ending of this episode hits straight in the heart now. Godspeed Storyteller
I prefer the Fallout Lore to the Skyrim lore now because of the voice actor - I loved the Skyrim lore back when Josh was the voice actor though

Just love this series, hats off to all who was involved in bringing us this amazingly detailed series, with such great production values that explain so much, while being entertained and engulfed in our much loved Fallout environment.
Thank you ShoddyCast :)
This is by far the best of the Fallout lore videos you've done
This video has two things I hate about what Bethesda did to Fallout xP Making it impossible to Harold be in every main game of the series by effectially ending his story in Fallout 3 and making G.E.C.K. to be actual terraforming device instead of agricultural kit its supposed to be
Just two? I hate all landscape in DC.
Fallout 3 was poop in general. I hope Bethesda learned a lot from Obsidian when they made New Vegas.
Scoops We can be sure on thing. Zenimax wants money.
Would be cool to have the storyteller as a random encounter in a F4 addon
I agree
and he'd tell you lore
+Person Man YESSSSSS
How could that happen? Your to busy going to this settlement that needs your help here ill mark it on your map.
Most likely a companion mod
How about an episode of ShoddyCast Lore?
Jango Dude love it
And that was the first season, so beautiful.
Thank you again for the countless hours spent putting together these entertaining pieces.
Imagine Ron Perlman narrating these videos......:o
"NukaCola: Come on, you've killed for less."
...that's not UNtrue...
Does killing a man for standing in a doorway count as less, or more?
@@ChaosWolf1982 TFS Vegeta reference there?
Leaving a comment in case anyone is rewatching this series like i am
these videos are a work of art, Thats all i can say.
I can not stress just how much I love this series. It makes me just wanna play more. You guys rule. Cheers to y'all!
Keihzaru Well if you put it like that.....
Corbin Cavitt I mean, they also seem to need a book to tell them where to Scavenge, even after 200 years of not hunting, or farming.... How do they survive? Do they eat sand for minerals?
rewatching in 2022
Me in 2023 i miss shoddycast xp
@@SilentSpringz it seems this chanel is dead
@@paulnightwolf4170 its dead. The moment I believe Austin left to game theory it went down. But so long ago can’t recall. Worst part is fallout 5 is so far away XD.
@@SilentSpringz true hopefully it can make a comeback
you need to bring this back
agreed brother
Thanks Josh. Great job goes out to the whole ShoddyCast Team.
I first wandered into this season because austin had the storyteller do a little story tellin in one of his science videos, and I wondered how he managed to get a professional voice actor to stop by his channel. Which led me to here. Glad I made that journey!
This video shows how fucked up Harold's storyline is thanks to bethesda.
After meeting two legends and living a long, hazardous, life, he was cursed to stay in the ground, where his pain let the land around him to be reborn.
He loses, everyone else wins.
In Gecko he was kind of nice old man, change into tree made his jokes unfunny...
Harold is a Tree.
Spinge Bill
I'd like to be a tree.
Spinge Bill
So Bethesda fucked a tree... and people pay them for that.
Blood sucker at 2:45
Ur goddamn right.
Zachary Chiupka what is a mutant from S.T.A.L.K.E.R doing in Fallou- nevermind, I better not ask.

Wow thank y'all so much! This series is so awesome to watch and of course take a break. If it helps y'all replenish everything to continue the series to make it even greater than I say do it! Thanks again!
Great job! And, good fun there at the end. Exited to start watching your second season now.
So the storyteller is the mysterious man from the perk?
*****
No, otherwise he would wear trenchcoat and a fedora. And would only appear for brief moments, not talking for hours.
AdamBlackHat who is he than? Cause only the mysterious stranger has been in fallout 3 and new vegas.
*****
He's OC, he can be whatever he wants. But for you, he is a storyteller in a rusty power armor.
AdamBlackHat OC?
*****
Original character. Fan made that is, so that is pointing out he's not official. Mysterious stranger is somehow canon in contrast.
I know what happened to Harold
he died for I killed him
and why did I kill him
because he asked me too
I love playing skyrim and have put way too many hours into it. Would you recommend getting one of the games in the fallout franchise and if so which one?
Definitely get 3, and then New Vegas. But if you're a PC gamer who likes old-school tough as nails RPGs, then buy Fallout 1 and 2 first.
It's up to you in which order you want to
Awesome work guys, thanks a ton for compiling all this into video form. And I look forward to season two!
What Shoddy Cast is saying is "The Storyteller is you."
the mysterious stranger made appearances in my playthrough of that island. it might be him. I still think its Ron Pearlman though.
Nope, he is the stranger. Listen to the stinger music after they ask him what his name is and then "disappears".
sirnippip Can't you get that music by getting the mysterious magnum.
Their is no doubt it is Ron.
This is unrelated to the video, but should I buy the first Fallout game? I have FO3 and FO:NV but I feel guilty for not having played the original.
Yes,If you can get Fallout 2 as well.
Fallout and Fallout 2 are great games, I would recommend them to everyone!
fallout is much harder than fallout 3 or new vegas so prepare to fail
get it its hard but fun
Alright, I'll buy the second one too then. Thanks!
So, Where does Nuka Cola come from? :p
The nuka cola factory in the capital wasteland
And how come the bubbles in the drink?
Mr anime this may be true, but how is Nuka Cola Victory made?
The guy who rides around the Wasteland on a bicycle restocking the Nuka Cola machines. That was actually a special encounter in Fallout Tactics.
Great. Work.
very enjoyable series, great production, thanks!
