As much as I dislike Elijah because of what he puts you through at Sierra Madre, based on how the Think Tank describes his actions, he's bad ass. From what I got, he ran through their defenses, hacked computers, hijacked bots, wrecked a fucking train car and disabled a the railroads of Big MT.
+LoganSoulsBorne4 Well he was an Elder of the Brotherhood for a reason. I can't deny his feats, but ever since I first saw him, all I ever wanted was (apart from escaping Sierra Madre) killing him in the worst way possible.
And unlike past Elders, who are usually promoted from the paladin caste, Elijah was promoted from the scribe cast. A rare deviation from the BoS' doctrine, yet he managed to make the Think Tank look like bigger fools then they already were. Makes you wonder how far he could've gotten if he managed to take a suit of T51-b Power Armor with him too when he fled the Mojave.
For me, I think I did Sierra Madre first of the DLCs, then Zion, Big MT then the Divide. Now I admit that Elijah was an absolute badass but I hate him far more than any other enemy in any other game. The experience of my first run of Sierra Madre was the worst thing I’ve ever played and I used god mode to take the gold and the whole DLC on future runs. But I despise Elijah and feel that death in fair battle is too good for him, so I always take the gold and other loot in the vault, persuade him to open the vault then run up the route I took to get in through the tunnels and so by the time he locks himself in and triggers the collar I’m already very nearly to the elevator exit and make it with plenty of time to spare. I then enjoy every fucking second of his final broadcast begging to be let out. And for the rest of the game I stop every so often and remember that he’s still trapped down there in that single room with everything he needs to survive for years. Especially when I use his old bunker as my Courier’s new home. My only regret is that that he’s an old man and has only ten years or so left to live. I really wish that he had been a young man with decades to spend locked up in that room with everything he needs to live, but with no freedom and no forms of entertainment.
I hated it, too. I constantly died, the collar was super annoying, the enemies were obnoxious, especially without my gear. I hated it until at the very end when I was trying to lug all 30-something gold bars to the end over and over again, trying to conceive any way it could be possible (sans mods or console cheats) to make it out on time. Then I remembered the constantly repeated words, the slogan of the casino. "Let Go". Just like that the narrative hit me so hard that I realized there was a reason for everything that had happened up until that point and even though I hadn't had FUN playing through the experience, it engaged me with narrative so strongly and impressed its theme so intelligently that I can't help but remember it fondly. Not all games (quests, missions, etc.) have to be fun to be enjoyable.

While Dead Money was easily one of the toughest engineered experiences I'd faced as a gamer, I can still say it was the most rewarding. Retroactively getting to experience Elijah's tale from the end-onwards--from Veronica's pieced-together story, to finding His holotapes scattered Across the Big Empty, to hearing of the sojourn from the lips of Ulysses Himself, and finally cornering Him in the Heart of Sinclair's mad dream--was one of the most satisfying feelings I'd had felt in all my years of gobbling of Bethesda's marvelous tales. This was a new take on the classic Heist: five disjointed souls brought together for one last grand escapade: looting the the wealth of a dead world and learning It's darkest secret in the process. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.. And not just because the sordid tale of Sinclair and Keyes's love-triangle held me in thrall to the bitter end. I confess, I left a lot of bullion buried in the heart of Sierra Madre--call it a last respect's to the dead, or simply pragmatism at not being able to carry it all home with me--but in that Damned Bunker I also left the wailing souls of Father Elijah, Vera Keyes, and Dean Domino to stand vigil over the last Monument to the Old World's grandiose majesty. @@poofbomb-minecraftmore1883unfortunately he now is jusr t a suit of power armour, his voice actor passed away recently. RIP Jason Damron, The Storyteller.
So it can't be the vault dweller or the lone wanderer. Can't be the courier since he speaks about the events of new vegas as if they haven't happened. I'd say it's the mysterious stranger. He's been in all four games so it fits with the "coast to coast"
***** Perhaps he's the Prisoner from Van Buren? or maybe one of the Fallout Tactics characters? Being Brotherhood in some way would certainly give him reason to know all this stuff.
Guys, the next episode will NOT be about the Lone Wanderer. That doesn't even make sense. The Lone Wanderer has not walked from both sides of the continent. It's most likely none of Fallout's past protagonists as their protagonists are built entirely of the player's choices. It's probably a custom story as the armor he's wearing is modded and doesn't fit Enclave power armor nor does it fit Brotherhood power armor (although it does look like modified T45-d PA). We'll have to wait and see but there's no way it's a past protagonist.
Well actually there's a Fallout New Vegas mod that intertwines Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It's called Tale of Two Wastelands. You start off born in Vault 101 like in F03 and if you go to the right place you can take a train to the Mojave where the NV storyline starts. Basically once you get off the train you're a courier for a few years then get shot and then NV starts. You can also travel between wastelands. So it could be the lone wanderer if they're using this mod as a base. Also it's not on the Nexus. you'd have to Google it. Also it is likely that this is the case because that armor is a mod too.
theguywithpants This series is about canon and lore. That's a mod. Therefore; it's not canon. The Lone Wanderer never left D.C. or at least as of 2277 they haven't. The Courier has never been farther than the Mojave at least as of 2281. If we're getting a custom story, it'd be pretty lazy and boring at that to just say "well this person is the Lone Wanderer" (even though that doesn't make any sense seeing as how everyone's Lone Wanderer is different). I highly doubt it's a past protagonist.
***** it could be Demond Lockheart. Possibly he has traveled all over the USA to Kill people even after the war he has been searching.. Desmond Somehow has power armour training in the game but never wear's power armour, but he was a British Secret agent so it could be him if his voice was more british xD
***** While I do I agree with you about this being a lore series, the armor in the end appears to be a mod and probably not lore but I could be very wrong. Looks like we'll find out in a few hours.
I just finished season 2. Was watching this one to show a friend. You guys are incredible. This series is amazing. Keep up the awesome work. I love it.
I have one Statement to say about The DEAD MONEY DLC, *It is the Castlevania of the Fallout Series!* The Back story of the Sierra Madre Casino's downfall is a true horror story. The monsters and dangers that lie within the cloud are originally intriguing. And Elijah is right, Everything you need to start a nation lies within that casino! This DLC makes you feel like your playing a totally different game. * You start off the DLC with a preset inventory, regardless of how you played the rest of the New Vegas game. * You go through the quests in a linear fashion. * The environment's difficulty is unique compared to the rest of the Mojave wasteland. * And once you finish the DLC's main quest, you can't go back. ( The one thing I hate about the DLC ) Overall, Dead Money is one of the best DLC's I have ever played. second only to Skyrim. I have not played Fallout 4, So I can't say anything about that game. Peace.
I agree, dead money had the best story out of the dlcs (or even better than the main story). Though there isn't any more powerful weapons (Disregarding the holorifle with all mods) but I guess it's fair consider it makes you feel like you're fighting for your very life. To me it feels like The Pitt on steroids with its dark theme and aids n' ammunition being scarce. Even though it was hard as hell, it was so satisfying when you've reached the end.
Poor Veronica and Christine. One of my biggest regrets after playing through new Vegas was that their was nothing I could do to bring them back together.
rewatching this series and being hit with the Begin Again at the end of the episode just gave me chills and memories of that DLC. That DLC left a mark on me, one that i fail to let go of.
this was my most frustating part of the game (in a good way) that collar, the noises everything was hostile just wanted to kill this elijha guy with my bare hands but I didn't... getting 36 bars of gold stopped me from doing it. it's amazing how money can change your mind even in a video game I felt used but with gold in my pocket in exchange of not getting my revenge. Is a weird feeling even in a game.
Shoddy you've done so much for the fallout community with this lore series teaching people the history so thank you, and you guys deserve to write your own lore about yourself
the only thing that was wrong was elijah didnt give two shits about the brotherhood anymore. of you listen to his transmitter he talks about killing the leaders off all factions off. he wanted it to be just him alone on his throne
Actually, mid-level is suggested because you lose all of your gear when you enter the Sierre Madre, with high level Ghost People ready to fuck shit up and mostly only subpar gear available.
I went at a relatively early level. Best decision I’ve made compared to the other levels I’ve gone to the Madre. Pretty sure the Ghost People scale with the players level. And the fact that your gear gets taken from you. It’s much easier to deal with at an early level. Because the Weapons you get are alright, and the Holorifle in my opinion arguably one of the best energy rifles in the game, specifically with all its mods.
Best Fallout DLC ever (even better than Far Harbor imo). The final reward was simply awesome! You were presented with an absurd amount of gold bars, but you need to escape the place and could only take a few bars because of wt limits.
"They don't need no stinkin' badges" I see what you did there. If that's not a reference to the _Treasure of the Sierra Madre_, novel and movie, then I don't know what is.
My god man, you are very exceptional sir. I don't know how I haven't heard of you or these amazingly and skilfully told tales but I am grateful I finally have. Your skill as a story teller leaves me with a deep envy and I hang on to every word in the hopes to improve my own prowess as a story teller. But I shelter little hope of surpassing the bar you have set so highly before me. You have a way of making each episode come to life with your words and voice alone. I only learned of you by way of Old World Tunes. After ignorantly adding it to my Fallout 4 game I slowly became enthralled with learning about The Storyteller. And here I am. I know as I binge watch your series my appreciation for you work will only grow. Keep spinning those tracks and telling your stories, and maybe someday I'll see you out there in this wide wondrous wasteland. Till next time.
The exquisite, luxurious casino, along with its villa, frozen in time, forever trapped in a red void, that can be compared to hell itself. May they rest in peace, all of the lost souls that have been forgotten in this cursed place.
Oh Elijah... I did not care what his story was in the end, I was so frustrated I DIED so many times because of that stupid collar that I did not bother trying to reason with him or try to find out what stupid sob story he had. I wanted him down that vault so we could fight, so I could blow his head off with the holorifle he gave me. The Dead Money add-on is highly recommended, especially for people who find Fallout New Vegas too easy even on hardcore (becuz they are insane). The perk "Travel Light" iI think is usefull in Sierra Madre because an added 10% movement speed is freakin helpful when you are running for your life because of Elijah and that f@cking collar of his!!!! Seriously, get the perk "Travel Light" , it is freakin helpful. Gad, that freakin collar... It felt so weird having it gone afterwards while frolicking again in the Mojave... Dead Money gave my Courier (and me) PTSD or something.
I was always afraid or running out of ammo because of my science build that uses primarily energy weapons oh well you get some cool stuff in there my man boone is always in assassin armor until I get the ranger armor for him
Maybe it's a grown up Arthur Maxson who's written a history of the wasteland via word of mouth from Elder Lyons( Super mutants in the west, Enclave Etc) , the Lone Wanderer ( for information on the capital wasteland, Mothership Zeta and beyond), the courier (new Vegas and it's lore) and his own thoughts, it's not unthinkable that the little kid in the citadel ventured out to see the world.
+Nicholas Fincannon I mean that he's recording it in his memoirs decades later. That said a thirteen year old kid taking command of the Mojave brotherhood chapter would be hilarious.
I'm excited for what the next one will be! Custom story is possible or, hopefully, just a creative way to tell a bunch of smaller stories together. Btw, this is y favorite RUclips series going on right now. Great job and thank you!
I swear I do not know how people find this DLC difficult, I played the game on hard with a revolver stealth build. I mean yeah I had the perfect set up, but even 13 year old me had no problem with it when I played five years ago.
Thank you ShoddyCast for another great episode. I liked at the end we see the narrator and I am very curious to see what comes next. Great job again guys, please keep them coming.
For a smart guy Elijah was kind of an idiot, why would anyone need or even want the gold bars in the Sierra Madre vault? The man had everything he needed and he gave it all up for a bunch of useless gold bars and yeah I know you can sell them but being able to sell them just makes even less sense, who is buying them and why? This is like buying/selling old roman empire coins.
He was prob after all the pre war tech. Since most of the folk stories about Sierra Madre says it didn't get removed completely. Lord knows why he didn't go after big MT or something.
Timewarpiaman lol yeah I never thought of that. I suppose we can pretend it was worth something for some reason. Meanwhile I have all of the gold bars sitting in my motel room in Novac.
Well he was looking for pre-war tech and as were in big MT but Ulysses tricked him into thinking the Sierra madre was the place were he would get everything he needed (even though Ulysses knew he would die there)
Timewarpiaman Did you even play Dead Money? Elijah didn't give a shit about the gold, he wanted revenge against The NCR. Elijah wanted the pre-war technology. He planned on using the unkillable holograms to wipe out NCR's forces and to create a second cloud over the Hoover dam.
Panzer89 Except that's my point, this makes it sound like he already had all of that and only wanted access to the vault for the gold bars. Think about it, why would the original creators of the place want to put the tech in the vault when what they were really trying to protect the gold bars?
Anyone else just come back to binge the entire series.

Lewis Roantree I think it's Frank Horrigan, or someone else from the Enclave.
Maybe Harold?
***** Perhaps he's the Prisoner from Van Buren? or maybe one of the Fallout Tactics characters? Being Brotherhood in some way would certainly give him reason to know all this stuff.
BestGamerBoy1 Frank Horrigan is way larger than the guy at the end of this video
Dead Money taught me how useful foods are in the game

I've come back here so many times!
I just finished season 2. Was watching this one to show a friend. You guys are incredible. This series is amazing. Keep up the awesome work. I love it.
I have one Statement to say about The DEAD MONEY DLC,
*It is the Castlevania of the Fallout Series!*
The Back story of the Sierra Madre Casino's downfall is a true horror story.
( The one thing I hate about the DLC )
Overall, Dead Money is one of the best DLC's I have ever played. second only to Skyrim.
I have not played Fallout 4, So I can't say anything about that game.
Peace.
You can go back to the Mojave after playing it.
I think he meant back to Sierra Madre.
But yeah that dlc was legit scary and made me paranoid
I agree, dead money had the best story out of the dlcs (or even better than the main story). Though there isn't any more powerful weapons (Disregarding the holorifle with all mods) but I guess it's fair consider it makes you feel like you're fighting for your very life. To me it feels like The Pitt on steroids with its dark theme and aids n' ammunition being scarce. Even though it was hard as hell, it was so satisfying when you've reached the end.
Second only to Skyrim? This garbage that feels like it was written by a 12 year old? Give me a break
Myon Youmu someone's salty here
loved the story in this dlc, it definitely was underrated
Poor Veronica and Christine. One of my biggest regrets after playing through new Vegas was that their was nothing I could do to bring them back together.
The song begin again, sounds so scary over the radio in game.
Oh no, every time I'm chilling in the sink and it comes up I start singing with a passion. It's a beautiful song.
Ever hear of a mod called Dust? That song is the first thing you hear.
"The sierra madre, that's a special kind of hell" -Ulysses
Love the cliffhanger at the end of the video. Can't wait for the next one! You guys are doing amazing work!
R.I.P to the legend, The Storyteller
Man Bethesda needs to know what kind of fan base they have on this channel. And they need to donate 10,000,000 dollars.
rewatching this series and being hit with the Begin Again at the end of the episode just gave me chills and memories of that DLC.
Is a weird feeling even in a game.
biggest problem is finding a merchant to buy the gold
Pelcogo eh... Gun runners can take it.
Pelcogo Gun Runners and the Merchant Bot thing at Big Empty.
Shoddy you've done so much for the fallout community with this lore series teaching people the history so thank you, and you guys deserve to write your own lore about yourself
That ending was really clever guys! Can't wait to see what the question mark is.
Rest in peace, storyteller.
Never once did I expect this series to have a cliffhanger of this magnitude, dammit please don't make me wait. *Hype intensifies*
Thank you ShoddyCast! That was a pretty cool build up. I never expected this awesome ending. ;)
the only thing that was wrong was elijah didnt give two shits about the brotherhood anymore. of you listen to his transmitter he talks about killing the leaders off all factions off. he wanted it to be just him alone on his throne
Hasn't even been ten minutes after watching this and the suspense is already killing me.
Gonna be great.
Easily the hardest DLC (you'll need a higher level), but it really is fantastic.
Actually, mid-level is suggested because you lose all of your gear when you enter the Sierre Madre, with high level Ghost People ready to fuck shit up and mostly only subpar gear available.
And more catered to stealth builds.
Thank you guys for making this series. Myself as a big fan of Fallout and a lot of others love the content you guys make.
Best Fallout DLC ever (even better than Far Harbor imo). The final reward was simply awesome! You were presented with an absurd amount of gold bars, but you need to escape the place and could only take a few bars because of wt limits.
Some people think other dlc's are better but I love the story of the Sierra Madre
it is possible to get all 37 gold bars + everything inside the vault
+Snifer0070 yes
+leonard mereigh how is that ?
+SparkyMist Gaming Zone its very complicated but there is a video of it some where but you have to build you char a certain way for it to happen
9:29 this made me laugh so hard, I love your videos and style of story telling with all the jokes and references. Top notch, man.
That ending surprised me, it was like holy shit that's cool, i just wish it didn't end, hopefully you'll start it back up when Fallout 4 comes out
This has been a wonderful series so far; I love hearing just about anything Fallout related. Also, that ending...
"They don't need no stinkin' badges" I see what you did there.
If that's not a reference to the _Treasure of the Sierra Madre_, novel and movie, then I don't know what is.
I’m certain you can appreciate what you have yet still improve yourself or said things, appreciated by being maintained and upgraded, even
What a crazy ending.
They should do an episode on the Pitt. It's by far my favorite DLC of Fallout 3.
These videos are so epic! Tysm for making this. This should be on gameshows.
The alternate ending where Elijah wipes out the world is my favorite thing about new Vegas
The exquisite, luxurious casino, along with its villa, frozen in time, forever trapped in a red void, that can be compared to hell itself. May they rest in peace, all of the lost souls that have been forgotten in this cursed place.
I cant wait for next next Friday its going to be epic
One of my favorite episodes and the ending was fantastic. So excited for the next one!
I was like
He's is talking in first person? oh....Oh.....Ohhhhh.
Gotta say. Never watched this series before. I’m just now getting into fallout so I’m enjoying this a lot. Thanks for making these videos
I know how you feel
I was always afraid or running out of ammo because of my science build that uses primarily energy weapons oh well you get some cool stuff in there my man boone is always in assassin armor until I get the ranger armor for him
Nv is as easy or as hard as you make it. It's easy to restrict yourself
Honestly, i ran out of things to say...these make my day.thank you all for making these videos!!!!! TT-TT THERE PERFECT DAMN IT!!
During the events of New Vegas he would be 15 years old not saying that it was not a bad idea though.
My math was wrong he would be 13 years old.
Oh... You mean the kid at the BOS Citadel in Fallout 3? Hahah i saw "Maxson" and was like HIGH ELDER MAXON?!? he's longgggg since dead xD
+Nicholas Fincannon
I mean that he's recording it in his memoirs decades later. That said a thirteen year old kid taking command of the Mojave brotherhood chapter would be hilarious.
I'm pretty sure it's a made up character though lmao
Thanks again for putting these together. Looking forward to future Commonwealth episodes after Fallout 4 is released.
After all these years , I can still hear the fucking beeping in my head ....
Debu Neko it's gives me like fucking PTSD whenever I hear beeping
This series is so great - thank you ShoddyCast!
SO glad I didn't discover this series till now, lol, using it to brush up on my lore and kill time till Fallout 4 =)
+SirCruxable same lol
I'm excited for what the next one will be! Custom story is possible or, hopefully, just a creative way to tell a bunch of smaller stories together. Btw, this is y favorite RUclips series going on right now. Great job and thank you!
I swear I do not know how people find this DLC difficult, I played the game on hard with a revolver stealth build. I mean yeah I had the perfect set up, but even 13 year old me had no problem with it when I played five years ago.
Wow! You are right up there with Mr. Ballen.... On the story telling abilities!!!
I won't be surprised is the Storyteller would be an easter egg in Fallout 4
+Raikato i dont think he is going to show in fallout 4 but they will proably be mod like the one to new vegas
Thank you ShoddyCast for another great episode. I liked at the end we see the narrator and I am very curious to see what comes next. Great job again guys, please keep them coming.
I left my Heart in the Sierra Madre ❤️
I love this series, I think this was one of your best videos yet!
I don't know why, but the Sierra Madre makes me think it's supposed to be like Rapture from BioShock.
You have basically made the Fallout Bible into a video series a fantastic job please continue there is still much more to cover
Soooo......... The narrator exists in both OUR world AND the Fallout world!
no he speaks to us as if we live in the wasteland
This ep was a great one, and can’t wait for the next one.
Lol I got the badges reference
I have a love hate relationship with Dead money. it was AMAZING story wise but shit gameplay wise. in my own opinion
I agree, the plot was good but to much bullshit in there to enjoy just the freedom of the map and such :)
I was so pissed that I couldn't go back there. So much to discover
Anamosityy also the stealth boy was not in the vault so I could not sneak out all of the bricks.
Dead money was scary lol
Ghost people were a bitch kill with when you have shit guns and little ammo.
This can't be the end! This is my favorite series on RUclips, and as a rabid fan of the Fallout series, I need more.
Yay! New Fallout lore!
That ending was awesome! :D the switch to first person was epic!
If Fallout 4 isn't confirmed by the end of this series I will be pissed.
It is confirmed it comes out 2016
sir swag walrus don't you Hurt me like that...
sir swag walrus please dont. my feels are too hurt.
***** the teaser trailer was announced fake
HAh, im a fakkin Walrus! i will hump you all, nothing can stop the walroses
Old World Blues was pretty awesome. Solid exploration and some if the funniest moments in the series
We don't need no stinkin badges! 😂
Keep up the great work! Every episode I watch with excitement!
The suspense is going to kill me
It's put together VERY nicely.
why do i have the feeling that the next one is the last.
I really hope not because they did not do the pitt and point lookout yet.
ShoddyCast Rules! i love the narrator and who ever wrote the script, Keep up the awesome Job you guys!
Oh shit, the narrator is supposed to be a real person in the fallout universe! I can't wait! Love these videos guys keep up the good work
Man.. You are the fuckin beast of lore, I wonder how long it would take in game to get all this information
That was awesome as always. Ending very well done
He's probably gonna be both the Lone Wanderer and the Courier. Hope that won't be the final episode though.
