Some people do want to take Tattooing as a personal hobby of tattooing. You don't have to go for an apprenticeship if you practice by yourself enough. It's called trial and error, argo learning. If you want to take a job in tattooing then yes, apprenticeship is recommended and not only for the teacher part, but also for the records of you knowing what ur doing later down in life. i think you’re way reading into it, this guy is doing a huge SERVICE to the tattooing community. it’s confusing where to start. he is absolutely not claiming to take the place of a real apprenticeship. and like another reply said, not everybody interested in tattooing as a skill plans to do it in real people, they may enjoy it as a practice on fake skin and to expand skill in another medium.
nothing sucks more than trying to tattoo yourself and you cant stretch the skin at all. the bouncing and snagging is mind breaking.

They give the false impression that real apprenticeship is not necessary.
