wow - I grew up next to the Reedy River 60+ years ago. But not the downtown section. It was close to Cedar Lane Rd. There was a train trestle over the river, and it rained hard and the water actually was over the tracks of the trestle, but you could see the tracks. It is amazing that I survived this, but someone dared me to walk over the trestle on the tracks and I did that. I used the leftmost track in case I fell so I might could grab hold of the other track before getting washed off the trestle. After walking the trestle, I then had to walk back and that was was scarier as the water seemed to rise before I could get back, and the tracks were harder to see. Looking back, that might possibly be the dumbest thing I ever did in my 74 years. I'm nervous just thinking I did that.

I can imagine the 'scouring' that this amount of flow has done to the riverbed and embankment.

And I see people walking their dogs and just having a normal afternoon and this is just a curiosity. Hours later, they will be complaining to RUclipsrs about how they lost everything and how they didn’t see this coming! I just don’t understand people.

Luckily Greenville wasn’t hit with any flooding that I was aware of. The heavy rain just caused the river to flow heavier than usual. About half of the Greenville area lost power though, but people in the area were still able to go out and enjoy downtown Greenville.

It would not matter you could pull out red danger tape and they would still walk right on through it . Cause they know more than you do .
