The scanlines only seem to be there on 240hz and in the oranges/yellows as well as blues. If you drop it down to 120hz there are no scanlines. Hopefully that means it can be patched out because they’re definitely annoying.
Did you try to use custom frequencies in a gpu driver like 230, 220, 210, 200, 190? Maybe scanlines will disappear at 230 or 190 hz instead of using 120 hz.
Unfortunately it's a legacy problem with Samsung, but the problem only occurs typically at 200hz and up so honestly it's not to bad of a problem unless you play at 1080 or 1440 for the frames
I wrote samsung because of that and they said that its "a Nvidia Bug" and the support couldn´t tell me if its fixed. Maybe folks with AMD Cards don´t have these scanlines
@@G-O-A-M I verified again very attentively. Some scanlines are present in a specific blue color (not in any blue but only in one of them), otherwise I can't see them at 240 hz by using RTX 3080 TI. AMD I didn't try.
*** Here is all my favorite settings list of both SDR and HDR *** I tell you guys this Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is very good monitor. But... You have to know how to work the options on the monitor itself to be able to get these visuals! But if you got the G7 Neo model then just try see if that good for you... This is very important settings with " Saturation " this give more color for to both SDR and HDR. Well, best settings is Saturation with 58 or 60 or 70. I use 70 for both SDR and HDR. Depending on which movies or games to run. See and test what is fit well best. Also important that " Local Dimming " to High or Auto. Sometimes better use with High and sometimes better use Auto, depend on. But you need use both High and Auto, However use often with High. If you like can use also with Low, but i never use Low. "Local Dimming" is important for both SDR and HDR. This thing has do with Mini-LED. You can change " Contrast Enhancer " On or Off, if you like it. " Black Equalizer " 13 is great but you can change from 9 to 16 or up to 20 if you like it. 9 to 16 is great " Contrast " with 75 and 80, 90 and 100 fine. You can change Gamma Mode 1 or 2 or 3. I use 1 and 2. Even you can change " Color Tone " I use Normal and Warm 1 and Natural. " Adaptive-Sync " is On this is good thing so you can use with G-Sync Compatible to enable if you wanna it. But make sure turn off V-Sync in game. If off G-Sync, you can use V-Sync. I don't use G-Sync due they are not support to all games also i don't need that. You can have " Adaptive-Sync " on and without use G-Sync and just enable V-Sync. If you turn off " Adaptive-Sync " You can use with " Response Time " and " Low Input Lag ". I don't use " Low Input Lag " Just keep on " Adaptive-Sync ". If you turn on " Adaptive-Sync " will work run with G-Sync or FreeSync. HDMI or DisplayPort both work to run with G-Sync or FreeSync. My " VRR Control " is On. Well better use with HDMI than DP. HDMI can get 12-bit color, with a lot color than 10-bit. But make sure set on output color depth 12-bit SDR in PC. This monitor model HDMI 2.1 get only 120Hz max at 4K. If guys wanna run with DisplayPort at 240 Hz but get only 10-bit color. This monitor support 12 bit color, That Amazing... If you run HDMI on PC and don't forget turn off HDMI audio in Nvidia Control Panel or in Sound Control Panel, If you wanna use from motherboard audio ports or PC sound card. If you have problem monitor like when is flickering or glitching or other just turn off power in OSD buttons then turn on power. If this not help then just restart PC in Windows. Then is all good again. I think DP is better than HDMI for that Samsung Neo Odyssey G8. Almost zero issues for flickering or nothing at all. I think HDMI got more issue. This is just small problem, not big deal. I did try only with PC Windows DP & HDMI. I don't know about with Consoles at HDMI if have problem with flickering or other. I did read from someone comment and he said about Scanlines problem.. =========================================================================== What i learned watching hours of reviews 240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming ) 120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines) *Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing. *SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING * SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK =========================================================================== You know that settings on SDR will have different settings save from HDR on, If you run HDR will have other settings save. I have this monitor, so I love the criticism. Whenever I look for reviews, I don't just want the good stuff. I prefer the bad stuff, but overall, this was a great review. I picked this monitor like you said for mainly gaming, not for daily productivity, so after your review, this made it even better knowing I made the perfect choice by choosing this monitor for gaming and I don't regret it one bit 👍🏻
Great review as always. To be fair, Hardware Unboxed has already posted a non-sponsored review critical of the monitor. but I do prefer yours. Also, the channels you mentioned have zero credibility, we need more reviewers like you, I hope you keep growing subscribers.
I felt like HWUB got a really bad sample of the G8 and very lucky with the G7, they bought theirs from America and from my experience batches sent to America tend to have a looser quality control compared to batches sent to Australia and even Japan, they both have a lot more robust and stricter consumer protection laws, companies are very wary of selling things to Australia at times, knowing that they'll lose money if things isn't done right in the first place. The reason why Steam now allow refunds because the Australian government makes it mandatory. So depending on where you live you might get a really good or bad batches of Neo G8 and G7's.
@@someoneintheinternet7443 I know that's why they said they bought thiers from B&H America (American batch stock) since the Neo G7/G8 is not released in Australia yet.
This time this is mostly a great review. It would be nice to see the comparison between monitors side by side, not separately and with comments where and when the picture is better or worse.
The hard to see in dark areas isnt more realistic, its just this monitor has heavy black crushing to get better black levels to compete with OLED making it hard to see details in the darker areas. You can raise it to where its not crushed but then it just looks washed out
Yeah there is definitely some black crushing when black level is set to low. But I don’t want to turn it off cause I’m afraid of missing out on some darkness, it’s really the only caveat of this monitor.
When you stated this isn't a competitive monitor I disagree, I have a 3090 TI and on Apex I get 240FPS and the input lag is non existent. I love this monitor and for racing games or any RPG's I use a 42 inch lg C2. I just think unless you go Oled this is the best monitor money can buy.
His point on the realistic dark areas is valid but doesn’t affect everyone. I only play shooters and do damn well with the G8. I just had to get used to the curve coming from flat monitors and also the image quality. It’s so good that I sometimes do a double take instead of focusing on what I need to
I just got one. I don't see any scan lines yet, I believe it's an overheat problem seeing others deal with it. It's amazing that they managed 240hz and it worked thru my 48gbs HDMI cable as well in a 5700xt. Competitive gamers won't care at all about true blacks , they turn off most settings and crank the brightness and NOT game in 4k I'm not convinced on curved yet, but there's no flat alternative yet, but I think it also helps keep the viewing angles at best angles for the panel.
Yes 48gbs 240hz it's great. Just sometimes wonder (not pointing at anybody here 🙏) r reviewers just copy paste others & call it a day. Such a shame... Found same lack of info about my LG C1 so did the same for my C2 OLED, just can't remember what EXACTLY it was, but a big one aswell. This is the whole reason why, I'm commenting...
@@christianspring5911 I'm on a 4090. Would you recommend using an HDMI 2.1 cable with this instead of DP? Isn't there DSC as well with HDMI so it'd essentially be the same thing between DP or HDMI?
besides the knowledge and work u put into your videos, I hugely and massively appreciate the fact that u don't put music in the background !! honestly thank u, man. Thank you !!
You can adjust in game brightness to see dark areas clearly if you want to be more "competitive" so I don't think that's a real downside of this monitor.
Your gpu won’t really matter. Even at 3440x1440 you won’t top the 175hz in triple A games. Not without DLSS. I have a 3090ti and the aw3423dw. Only game I’m maxing the 175 is Cold War with DLSS. Titles like rdr2 gets about 80-100.
I just picked mine up for just under $1200 after taxes on Samsungs website! I’m extremely excited, since I’m coming from a 2017 1080p120hz Asus monitor! On my journey to this, I tested out a G7 and G70A for 2 weeks each, but I think this is my final monitor buy for the next few years.
@@jamesbrothers7499 honestly, the monitor is great. I didn’t have any of the problems other people reported, such as the scan lines or the curve being too much. However, I will admit that I wish I went with the 49” Neo G9 instead. After the first 4 months, I really wish I grabbed two G7’s or even G5’s instead of one of these just because you get used to the 32” really quickly and it didn’t feel like enough monitor for me. Anywho, the performance is great, the colors and contrast are pretty amazing and being able to have many different profiles for SDR vs HDR content is very useful. It meshed perfectly fine with my PC and my Xbox, too!
Preordered this yesterday. It arrives next week. My 3090 is going from working with a flat 4k Acer 60hz non-HDR non-Gsync display to this… can’t wait to see the difference
@@vincentramos1938 I returned it and got a 42 inch LG C2. The Samsung had too many little issues like scanlines and flickering. It’s a shame because playing at 240hz was amazing but those issues, on menus especially, were too annoying for the cost of it.
One persistent problem I have had with the Neo G8 is that it won't allow booting in HDMI 2.0. You either have to boot in HDMI 1.4 and then switch to HDMI 2.0 or (oddly) open the OSD and then reboot. I have seen this annoying quirk mentioned elsewhere. Happens with all cables, many graphics card and systems. The OSD is not that easy to get to (like if you have a soundbar).
I have this monitor on a asus rog strix 4090 oc and I haven't seen a single scan line yet. Perhaps the 3080s were just under powered for the display? And I run 240hz.
Just got this for a couple days and found that the scan line issue only happens when I set VRR to on. If I keep it off then I don't get any scan line at all even at 240hz. I do confused about why adaptive sync and VRR are 2 different settings tho but looked up the manual it says that the VRR setting is there to be turned on if you experience screen flickering which I don't see any so I'm going to keep it off. About the matte coating tho, yes I see the same kind of "rainbow" effect on mine as well but maybe because I've used the BenQ VA panel for years that also has kind of the same issue, I quickly not noticing it doing stuffs and I do use the monitor for both content consumption and work. Overall, a very good HDR monitor with fantastic picture quality. Sad that it doesn't come with USB-C port but I'd still recommend getting one if you found a good deal.
I got one about a month ago. No scanlines at 240hz so maybe they have fixed this!? It is a crazy monitor tho, hitting 240hz on COD with a 4090 is as good a gaming experience as I can imagine! I am a very happy chappy!
Yooo no scanlines really bro??? I wanna pick one up bro. In your opinion do u think I should, I’ve never used a curved monitor so I’m scared I won’t like it, and is there really no more scanlines??
@Shoto 999 yo yo.....I defo cannot see any scan lines at 240 on mine. However it seems I'm in the minority saying this so could be worth checking one out in a store first....but.... You absolutely cannot see anything negative while gaming and 4k at 240 is crazy shiny!!
@@davestebbing2278 perfect man and in terms of the curve is it absurdly noticeable or not really. And will things like RUclips and other applications look just as crisp as gaming. Thanks so much again man for such a fast response your a legend
@Shoto 999 the curve is real. Again I'd say check one with a 1000r curve in a shop as it did take a couple days to get used to it. But I couldn't go back now I'm used to it. Feels like your IN the game more than a flat screen.
@@davestebbing2278 gottya bro appreciate the help man :) one last last thing I don’t know about you but me personally I play a lot of emulators eg ds/3ds emulators. Dude what's with the camera moving while we're looking at the monitor? The demo is already very active and includes moving objects. When you also move the camera, it creates a really unpleasant experience.
I have the Philips Evnia 25M2N3200W which is VA panel too. It's 1080p, 240 hz and I've faced scanlines in the blue, orange colors. Idk maybe it's VA panel thing.
Only the blacks , the blacks will look gray's with the ambient lights on , when u game in dark room everything back to normal, and also the colors are not than shiny like glossy panels
Just got mine and my scanlines are only on yellow/orange colors. Very hard to see them I have to bring my head about a foot away to notice. Overall I like the monitor a lot so far.
I have a question. All the reviews I've seen for this and similar monitors like the Neo G7 and Alienware OLED do great with pointing out the strengths and weaknesses. However my question is for anyone like me that uses the setup as an overall entertainment use. I am currently using an LG CX 55' because I also like to watch 4k movies from time to time and it has HDMI EARC. So I'm able to use an EARC soundbar through it's one HDMI 2.1 port. I have gone so far as to ask retailers and Samsung weather the HDMI 2.1 ports can pass through EARC or even ARC from my PC passed through Monitor to the soundbar and they couldn't really give me an answer. If you happen to have an EARC device and you could test that I know I'd love to hear the results.
I am trying to decide between this and the Alienware screen and honestly I usually prefer 16x9. I have a 3080ti and new pc in general all around so neither should be hard to drive for me. However I have heard you need a dedicated Gsync chip in a monitor to get full gsync/HDR experience. I believe even Linus mentions that in the ALienware video. What was your experience with it having an Nvidia card yourself?
Hey Type-C, just found your channel and appreciate the commentary about the monitor. Sadly looking for a monitor that is the right balance between work/play (I work from home) and it sounds like this isn't going to be it. Thanks for the good opinions!
Should I consider this monitor in 2024? Currently in my country it is available for the equivalent of $995. Also have any of the issues like scanlines gotten better over time with firmware updates?
Just got this for PS5 gaming and I have to say it's phenomenal. If you are like me and want to play super competitive games, I would suggest turning the local dimming feature off. If it's on, your response time goes up to 15ms from the normal 3ms it has with it off. Even without it the quality of the image is amazing. If you don't play super competitively then you can keep it on.
I've ordered one of these, should get it in the next couple of days, lucky for me I'm more than happy with 120hz (its what I game at currently and the 240hz is the least looked after feature for me).
@@vibesnovibes6320 So far, excellent, even the scanlines at 240 are all but invisible unless I put my nose to the screen and look at certain colors at a certain brightness. So even though I'd be fine with 120 where there are none, I've surprised myself by playing with 240 mode anyway. The color is excellent, silky smooth in games, the best contrast ration I have ever gamed with.
@@theredrighthand1258 hey man I have been dying researching about monitors and do you think this monitor can game at 1440p 120hz or even 4K 120hz since I have a ps5 ? Sorry I’m new to this stuff

Could anybody tell me how to get that background colors he's got in his screen? I got a Odyssey g70a and I want to know how I can find these coolo dynamic background. I tried RUclips but nope
Just get a display that is best looking than best performing for PS5 since you are going to be limited with PS5's 125/250Hz USB and BT polling rate, joystick limitation, vsync and aim assist interference.
Dog I love your channel and this was an awesome review. Can you help me out and direct me to where I can get that screensaver you got there? It’s pretty immaculate. Thanks.
I have my G8 but I just dont understand how to determine scanlines. Do you mean the pixel that are visible in the blue icon are scanlines? Isnt that normal when you look real close to the screen? I been looking at my monitor for few days and I just cant justify it lol...
Scanlines are mostly visible at 240 hz. They are not pixels but like paler pixels than adjacent ones. Probably it is the back grid becomes visible at 240 hz and it can't be avoided.
@@socialreport2836 if this is the case then I think my G8 doesn’t have scan line issue. But I notice one thing though. If I have a black picture scrolling behind a white background I do see a horizontal line across the screen. But it doesn’t bother me. Maybe the scan line issue is obvious (unlike the horizontal line I mentioned) that’s why so many people concern about it. This is a great monitor with great black level & contrast. People who likes dark games should buy it. It looks great in HDR and even in Dota I enjoy the HDR.
@@tiduschenable Yes. I saw this issue on different channels. I was searching those scanlines on my Samsung G9 Neo and there were no any of them even at 240 hz, probably got lucky with later batch of panels. As I understood, the first Samsung G9 Neo had a lot of problems, more than G8 Neo have right now.
@@socialreport2836 I been searching for scanline till today and I hadnt notice any strange thing yet except the one I mentioned. Maybe we just got lucky. My friend had G9 few months ago and his unit is absolutely good without any issie. Not even the horizontal line I mentioned. Apart from the scanline issue that people complain about, this is a great monitor, been searching for 4k HDR video and play it at 1.25x speed on youtube, it's incredibly stunning. The only issue I have is the brightness, it tend to be too bright when you browse on internet and the page is white. I have to manually decrease the brightness. And I dislike the monitor button too. They should use Joystick instead of pads. I replaced the Samsung stand with Ergotron LX Monitor Arm too. I would give it 10/10 if they use Joystick button and better stand.
@@tiduschenable OK. It's very good that the quality control for G9 Neo was indeed increased. G8/G7 Neo are definitely great displays for 4K tasks, photo/video editing, TV shows and console gaming. G9 Neo is great for multitasking and superwide view for 21:9 movies and PC gaming (for example, Cyberpunk 2077 looks incredible as 32:9). It would be nice to have them both as complementary displays.
We have a few racks that some of them sit on if I feel I may need them for comparisons in future videos. But besides that we usually sell them after the review on EBay, it definitely doesn’t recoup all the value but it’s better than just having them sitting around.

My og g7 32 gets 515 full screen brightness in sdr for some reason 540/550 10% window sooo its hard to match monitors now cause my last 2 g7s had defects.. any newer ones are only 340 to 370 full screen ugh it sucks
How image quality compare against the alienware qd-oled? I know contrast and colors are supposed to be better on the oled but pixel density is way better on the neo g8, which one would you choose for hdr single player games in a dark room?
I suppose it depends where the colors are better. In the bright spots the colors are better in Samsung than in OLED because OLED can't reach that level of brightness (white is white but in OLED the white is more slightly grey than white or there is a bluish tint in OLED that is unnatural and it is applicable to all the colors, the red is more bright red in Samsung than pale red in OLED etc) but in dark scenes it's vice versa, OLED is a winner. Most games have more bright scenes than dark ones, so the colors are better in Samsung but in horror movies/games they are better in OLED without almost any blooming (it exists in OLED ! but its blooming from adjacent bright pixels is very small and in Samsung it noticable but not too much, it is true).
Hey, I'm new to pc gaming and recently bought a gaming pc with a 3080 and bought this monitor. I'm having a problem when the monitor has adaptive sync on, my pc will not boot up correctly. The rgb lights turn on and the fans spin, but the PC will not boot up. When i turn it off, my pc boots up normally. Does anyone know the cause???
I get scanlines on ui elements even in 120hz mode. It doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is black equalizer should get its own button. No consistency of black levels on anything. Despite that I like the monitor, but I got it for 700$. is it worth 1500$? No way. I have a lg CX in my living room and the picture quality is not even close to that. The only thing this has going for it is brightness.
pretty sure you can set the "custom button" (which i believe is the right one) to black equalizer if you want. I think by default it's picture in picture which was an odd choice
i love samsung monitors they check all the boxes but one, all the good ones are curved man! so I have not purchased a samsung gaming monitor over 10 years because of the curve…..
Yea... it's not a quality control issue... my G8 has visible scan lines at 240Hz (none at 120Hz). Even in gaming, I can see the scan lines at 240Hz. Overall though, this monitor looks amazing!
Did you try to use custom frequencies in a gpu driver like 230, 220, 210, 200, 190? Maybe scanlines will disappear at 230 or 190 hz instead of using 120 hz.
@@socialreport2836 No. It doesn't allow me to do that. The next lower bump from 240Hz is 120Hz right away. I just tested 240Hz again a few hours ago and the scan lines aren't really that much visible unless you are sitting really close to the monitor and actively looking for it. I don't know why but this monitor feels far more silky smooth during gameplay than my previous IPS monitors. This monitor is above all else... a very good gaming monitor. I've been looking for reasons to return or even have it replaced by the G7 coz I heard that one has no scan lines even at 165hz but this G8 looks really good. I only have two physical defects: a 2 inch scratch at the bottom left bezel that looks like it was done by a knife and a pixel size dirt stuck in between the panel at the top right of the screen that is hardly noticeable unless I'm actively looking for it. Aside from that, there is none. The screen uniformity and brightness of the screen is superb. This is why I'm hesitant to RMA. I might get a panel with a much worse screen. My case isn't that bad. Honestly, I can live with the scan lines. It's really only visible to 240Hz and none at 120Hz. Even at 240Hz, it's not that bad or distracting for me. It hardly appears on the games I played. If only Samsung can improve their quality control. The curve also is not bad. Though I prefer flat screens... I believe that a flat panel on this G8 would be a mistake 'coz there will be color shifting since this is a VA panel and not IPS... and I can confirm this---the color becomes washed out when you look at the sides and edges. There is a reason why Samsung chose curve vs flat for this monitor.
@@xellaz If you use NVidia GPU, go to Control Panel, then Settings and turn on custom resolutions (maybe the names are a little bit different), then Create a Custom Resolution by confirming a statement and change only the frequency (don't use a bigger frequency than 240 hz, it can damage the panel). On my Samsung G9 Neo there are no any scanlines even at 240 hz (tried to find them on white and blue in the display's corners), it was quite rare not having them at all (some people confirm that such panels exist as mine) but maybe right now a lot of panels don't have theses issues (G9 Neo). After buying it several months ago I've almost immediately upgraded the firmware to 1008 and then to 1011 (not knowing that scanline issue existed) and didn't tried searching for scanlines by having 1006 firmware, so can't confirm, if 1008/1011 changes that or not but HDR definitely became very good compared to 1006 version. I scrutinized my panel and also found a pixel dirt spot but in the center (it's not a broken pixel, verified by using a magnifying glass) and it's only a little bit visible on a completely white background. I haven't noticed it for a past month. It doesn't glow like a broken pixel, so it's very difficult to see it. So Samsung G9 Neo is a great panel for multitasking or 32:9/21:9 games, 32:9 gives an incredible experience even compared to 21:9 format, very immersive, 1000R curve is definitely very suitable for G9 Neo, 1500R/1800R or less would be worse. Samsung G8/G7 Neo is better for console gaming or TV shows, photo design, for these tasks it's a great choice even compared to OLED/QD-OLED panels (it is confirmed that the last one as a regular OLED is also too dim for bright gaming scenes).
@@GiveMeYoSammich On G9 Neo I don't have any scanlines. Maybe it was patched, I began to verify them on 1008 or 1011 versions.
*** Here is all my favorite settings list of both SDR and HDR ***
I tell you guys this Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is very good monitor.
9 to 16 is great
" Contrast " with 75 and 80, 90 and 100 fine.
You can change Gamma Mode 1 or 2 or 3.
I use 1 and 2.
Even you can change " Color Tone "
I use Normal and Warm 1 and Natural.
===========================================================================
What i learned watching hours of reviews
240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming )
120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines)
*Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing.
*SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING
* SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK
===========================================================================
You know that settings on SDR will have different settings save from HDR on, If you run HDR will have other settings save.
So you can have two options SDR and HDR settings for saves. Great right?

Honestly one of the best monitors ever used, the colors almost match oled which is amazing, didn’t have any issues with scanlines.
I love the fact he states his review is unbiased at the beginning of the video. I bought 2 XB283K monitors because of him. Keep it up.
love the transparency and jabs at other creators good to know
I have this monitor, so I love the criticism.
I'm actually surprised that none of the reviewers r commenting about HDMI 2.1 12BIT 240HZ is actually possible on this monitor. (PC)
Great review as always. To be fair, Hardware Unboxed has already posted a non-sponsored review critical of the monitor. but I do prefer yours. Also, the channels you mentioned have zero credibility, we need more reviewers like you, I hope you keep growing subscribers.
I think when he filmed HWUB did not have their review out yet.
@@paul2609 irony because hwub is australian.
It’s so good that I sometimes do a double take instead of focusing on what I need to
What he meant by “competitive monitor” is 1080p 360 Hz or 240Hz with DyAc etc.
Your reviews never fail me. Good guy, great work.
Thank you, so glad you enjoy!
I just got one. I don't see any scan lines yet, I believe it's an overheat problem seeing others deal with it.
It's amazing that they managed 240hz and it worked thru my 48gbs HDMI cable as well in a 5700xt.
Competitive gamers won't care at all about true blacks , they turn off most settings and crank the brightness and NOT game in 4k
I'm not convinced on curved yet, but there's no flat alternative yet, but I think it also helps keep the viewing angles at best angles for the panel.
Isn't there DSC as well with HDMI so it'd essentially be the same thing between DP or HDMI?

honestly thank u, man. Thank you !!
You can adjust in game brightness to see dark areas clearly if you want to be more "competitive" so I don't think that's a real downside of this monitor.
No need to, this monitor has black level equalizer that you can adjust.
@@paul2609 Yes, that is also an option if you want it to apply to all games and not specific to just one.
I would buy this now if i had the money its what i have been waiting for years for a monitor like this. The Neo G7 dont suffer with the scanlines

Is it still doing you well? Out of curiosity
Thanks for a great review! I just ordered one of these, so now i know a little more about exactly what I'm up for :D

@@ggamer7830 when did it flicker?
One persistent problem I have had with the Neo G8 is that it won't allow booting in HDMI 2.0. You either have to boot in HDMI 1.4 and then switch to HDMI 2.0 or (oddly) open the OSD and then reboot. I have seen this annoying quirk mentioned elsewhere. Happens with all cables, many graphics card and systems. The OSD is not that easy to get to (like if you have a soundbar).
you dont have a 4090 , that is your problem
I have this monitor on a asus rog strix 4090 oc and I haven't seen a single scan line yet. Perhaps the 3080s were just under powered for the display? And I run 240hz.
no gsync
@@christiansarrazin5237 It works with gsync, you just have to enable it.
Will it be a good choice for mac mini m4?

HDMI 2.1 does support eARC, yes. You can see on the Neo G7 it even has eARC printed next to HDMI ports
The Scan lines is a deal breaker for me. Can you please update your description if you ever find out that it's not an issue with all panels? Thanks!
Pretty much every G8 has them. G7, on the other hand, doesn't.
Does anyone know what desktop backgrounds (the ones with lots of colors) he's using??

Can you put your settings for this monitor somewhere like Imgur? so anyone has this monitor can use the best gaming settings
It's going to be very subjective and vary per panel.
Good review mate, just so you’re aware, the first proper non sponsored video was from hardware unboxed

Should I consider this monitor in 2024? Currently in my country it is available for the equivalent of $995. Also have any of the issues like scanlines gotten better over time with firmware updates?
I'd like to know that too
Just got this for PS5 gaming and I have to say it's phenomenal. If you are like me and want to play super competitive games, I would suggest turning the local dimming feature off. If it's on, your response time goes up to 15ms from the normal 3ms it has with it off. Even without it the quality of the image is amazing. If you don't play super competitively then you can keep it on.
@eliasaittola6678 how is it with productivity? I am thinking about using it for lots of text reading and media consumption and mostly ps5

Glad you enjoyed! I’ll definitely be trying too!
I’m going to use this with my ps5 and my pc with a rtx 4080, which would your recommend the g7 or g8
I've ordered one of these, should get it in the next couple of days, lucky for me I'm more than happy with 120hz (its what I game at currently and the 240hz is the least looked after feature for me).
How's your experience so far?
@@vibesnovibes6320 So far, excellent, even the scanlines at 240 are all but invisible unless I put my nose to the screen and look at certain colors at a certain brightness. @@paul2609 been hearing bad things about that monitor
I'm debating should I buy this one or wait for the oled version
So would this be ok with Disney plus and gaming Netflix and RUclips
Anyone knows how this compares to Innocn's mini-led in terms of productivity and motion?
Do you have settings for the color, mine seems so dull.
When you utilize 240 hz in the Nvidia control panel, does this automatically compress the frames due to the limitation of display port 1.4?
use HDMI 2.1a it has DSC and its 48gb bandwidth
No you can use it with DSC
Could anybody tell me how to get that background colors he's got in his screen? I got a Odyssey g70a and I want to know how I can find these coolo dynamic background. I tried RUclips but nope
How does it stand a year later?
Hey what would you say is the best competitive monitor for the PS5?
Mainly for competitive shooters like war zone
A pc.
PC
Just get a display that is best looking than best performing for PS5 since you are going to be limited with PS5's 125/250Hz USB and BT polling rate, joystick limitation, vsync and aim assist interference.
Dog I love your channel and this was an awesome review. Can you help me out and direct me to where I can get that screensaver you got there? It’s pretty immaculate. Thanks.
I got this monitor and the ps5 I don’t like something when a play a game in 120 hz the hdmi desconect and connect when the game start ? Any advice
It would be nice to have them both as complementary displays.
thankyou for this DETAILED REVIEW
Got a rx 7900 xtx and think this is a good monitor to match ye?
Great review!
What modern games are you playing at 4k max settings getting 120-150 fps on a 3080?
fuel practicly infinity so efficient and bright
What do you do with all the monitors you bought to review but don't use anymore?
We have a few racks that some of them sit on if I feel I may need them for comparisons in future videos. But besides that we usually sell them after the review on EBay, it definitely doesn’t recoup all the value but it’s better than just having them sitting around.
@@TypeCTechReviews any chance you do some international shipping? I live in argentina and here we don't get to buy any of the new monitors. I could pay through paypal
LG C2 42 or G8?
Which is better? This or the LG 32GQ950?
How long is the provided displayport cable?
Hey, i really Love your Videos! So good structured and organized.
I Want to buy a Monitor for Home Office (Good Text clarity) and also Gaming. Can you help which one would be Good for this use?
Thanks so much
Quick question. How do you get affiliate links for different locations?
So i cannot have it if i don't use hdr? I use a capture card HDR messe with my image so i can't turn it on i play alot games for long time and i need good response time and high quality gameplay and i want that juicy 4k 120hz this moniter will be fixed connected to my series x should I buy one?
Yeah you’re right Future Proofing! what if Sony releases a PlayStation five pro that can push 190 Hz at 4K so with the neo G8 I have the extra Hz to spare
Can you use a Nvidia rtx 3080 with it? As it doesn’t says it has g sync?
wouldn't mind getting one, did you find the mount wobble quite a bit? on linus review it seemed to wobble a lot. The predator one i'm using now seems quite solid but don't want to drop the coin on this if its a wobbling mess. EDIT, I continued watching and it is a wobble fest. What a shame... Thanks for the truthfull review
My og g7 32 gets 515 full screen brightness in sdr for some reason 540/550 10% window sooo its hard to match monitors now cause my last 2 g7s had defects.. any newer ones are only 340 to 370 full screen ugh it sucks
The Samsung neo g8 or the dell aw32?
I am waiting the answer as well, 2024 now, similar price in Aus
So use the HDMI or DP??
I get scanlines on ui elements even in 120hz mode. It doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is black equalizer should get its own button. No consistency of black levels on anything. Despite that I like the monitor, but I got it for 700$. is it worth 1500$? No way. I have a lg CX in my living room and the picture quality is not even close to that. The only thing this has going for it is brightness.
pretty sure you can set the "custom button" (which i believe is the right one) to black equalizer if you want. I think by default it's picture in picture which was an odd choice
@@zaclandry9968 I realized this later. I am glad this is an option. The first thing you should change if someone reading this gets this monitor.
I just bought this Monitor but with a oled display. I think this is the better verseion than this G8 witth VA.
Whats that model?
best monitor ever
it is
i love samsung monitors they check all the boxes but one, all the good ones are curved man! so I have not purchased a samsung gaming monitor over 10 years because of the curve…..
M32u vs odyssey neo g7 which is better cause both r same priced
What is the difference between the Neo G8 and Neo G7? Is the refresh rate the only difference?
yes
I love how you said, "it's.. very unsettling." LOL
The black bottom part of the stand is NOT plastic. It is black painted METAL.
Yea... it's not a quality control issue... my G8 has visible scan lines at 240Hz (none at 120Hz).
How does this monitor look using 1440p?
