Just ordered the LG 32GQ950 but I'm still on the fence with the Samsung G8.. What do you think between them? I kinda worry about the G8 crushing the blacks and over contrasting certain areas too much. Also, ppl mentioned G8 has issue with accurate colors pre-calibration. 240Hz less concern to me since I don't game high refresh games and anyway have only a 2070 graphics board. On the other hand, I saw great reviews of the LG and ppl say even tho it has only 32 dimming areas, it's quite good for HDR contents and colors are accurate from factory.. So what do you think?
What i learned watching hours of reviews 240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming ) 120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines) *Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing. *SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING * SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK From this video I learned about the input lag & response times . Now i know how to get the best out of this monitor when it comes to latency. THANKYOU!!!!!!
Thank you for this information ! Well better use HDMI than DP. HDMI can get 12-bit color, A lot color than 10-bit. But make sure set on output color depth 12-bit SDR in PC. This monitor model HDMI 2.0 get only 120Hz max at 4K. If you guys wanna run with Displayport 240 Hz but get only 10-bit color. This monitor support 12 bit color, That Amazing...
** Here is all my favorite settings list of both SDR and HDR ** I tell you guys this Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is very good monitor. But... You have to know how to work the options on the monitor itself to be able to get these visuals! But if you got the G7 Neo model then just try see if that good for you... This is very important settings with " Saturation " this give more color for to both SDR and HDR. Well, best settings is Saturation with 58 or 60 or 70. I use 70 for both SDR and HDR. Depending on which movies or games to run. See and test what is fit well best. Also important that " Local Dimming " to High or Auto. Sometimes better use with High and sometimes better use Auto, depend on. But you need use both High and Auto, However use often with High. If you like can use also with Low, but i never use Low. "Local Dimming" is important for both SDR and HDR. This thing has do with Mini-LED. You can change " Contrast Enhancer " On or Off, if you like it. " Black Equalizer " 13 is great but you can change from 9 to 16 or up to 20 if you like it. 9 to 16 is great " Contrast " with 75 and 80, 90 and 100 fine. You can change Gamma Mode 1 or 2 or 3. I use 1 and 2. Even you can change " Color Tone " I use Normal and Warm 1 and Natural. " Adaptive-Sync " is On this is good thing so you can use with G-Sync Compatible to enable if you wanna it. But make sure turn off V-Sync in game. If off G-Sync, you can use V-Sync. I don't use G-Sync due they are not support to all games also i don't need that. You can have " Adaptive-Sync " on and without use G-Sync and just enable V-Sync. If you turn off " Adaptive-Sync " You can use with " Response Time " and " Low Input Lag ". I don't use " Low Input Lag " Just keep on " Adaptive-Sync ". If you turn on " Adaptive-Sync " will work run with G-Sync or FreeSync. HDMI or DisplayPort both work to run with G-Sync or FreeSync. My " VRR Control " is On. Well better use with HDMI than DP. HDMI can get 12-bit color, with a lot color than 10-bit. But make sure set on output color depth 12-bit SDR in PC. This monitor model HDMI 2.1 get only 120Hz max at 4K. If guys wanna run with DisplayPort at 240 Hz but get only 10-bit color. This monitor support 12 bit color, That Amazing... If you run HDMI on PC and don't forget turn off HDMI audio in Nvidia Control Panel or in Sound Control Panel, If you wanna use from motherboard audio ports or PC sound card. If you have problem monitor like when is flickering or glitching or other just turn off power in OSD buttons then turn on power. If this not help then just restart PC in Windows. Then is all good again. I think DP is better than HDMI for that Samsung Neo Odyssey G8. Almost zero issues for flickering or nothing at all. I think HDMI got more issue. This is just small problem, not big deal. I did try only with PC Windows DP & HDMI. I don't know about with Consoles at HDMI if have problem with flickering or other. I did read from someone comment and he said about Scanlines problem.. =========================================================================== What i learned watching hours of reviews 240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming ) 120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines) *Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing. *SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING * SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK =========================================================================== You know that settings on SDR will have different settings save from HDR on, If you run HDR will have other settings save. I don't have the screen yet so can't be certain but brother, there is NO way that 70 saturation makes any sense. I hope this isn't rude but I think you're so used to over saturated, unrealistic colors on screens you think that's how it's supposed to look. I've never seen a screen in my life where raising saturation more than a few points was a good idea or made things look better. What also might be happening is: if you use HDR on windows, the desktop is completely washed out and ugly. This is often the case and a windows issue. It also happens when I conect my laptop to my TV and use HDR. The desktop is washed out but if you look at HDR content, *e.g. a HDR movie, netflix, youtube, game etc" .. you will notice that the colors are perfect. Its ónly the windows desktop that is washed out and ugly. This is why it's better to use SDR most of the time and only turn on HDR for HDR content. This is the only way I can explain the settings you have. As someone that has had many TV's and screens, if your screen requires that much saturation to look good it's either broken or something else is wrong. And coincidentally I read on reddit yesterday people complaining that while using HDR the desktop is washed out and ugly. But this is only the desktop / windows my friend. If you watch a HDR video on your computer you will notice suddenly everythng looks absolutely gorgeous.
@@3choblast3r4 Hi i know some 70 saturation is too much lol. My English is very bad. Regarding the input lag. I have PS5 for gaming and powerful PC. I only play FPS games. Also BF5 60Hz Which setting VRR on/off adaptive sync on/off etc. Is there an expert mode where I have more setting options for calibration, e.g. including secondary colors etc.?
is the curve actually a disadvantage for competitive gaming? i dont mind the curve in general especially on a 32 inch but im worried about the POV difference u mentioned. Is it a dealbreaker for fps mains?
It's subjective, there's no disadvantage as such but the curve might throw off your shots and/or might not be something most are accustom to - in my case, I'd never get a curved monitor of this size due to playing a lot of CSGO.
@@TotallydubbedHD appreciate your input man.. i recieve my monitor tomorrow. I hope it's something I can get used to aim wise cause the rest of the specs are the best at least until the oled monitors come out
@@mohammedal-omair8672bro I’m in the same boat been a 1080p 240hz gamer on valorant etc for awhile now. I just got a 4090 so it’s time to jump to 4k and this monitor was the only option i had lol. How you liking it bro?
Received mine and there are no scanlines on mine. Firmware ver 1003. Also, I believe my input lag remains on when I use adaptive sync. It looks greyed out but still says "on". Not sure if is really on or not. I really like this monitor, tons of features, easy to read, easy on eyes but what is killing for me is the ghosting while playing. My old 1080p 34" Ultra wide LG did not have this ghosting and it's really noticeable. However I don't notice it in your videos. How does it look smooth on your monitor with adaptive sync off? If I turn it off, there are a ton of tearing for me. Please let me know when you get a chance. Thanks!
Glad you like the monitor - as for the ghosting please refer to the comments made in the video! If Samsung has changed something via a firmware update however, this might have impacted the visual performance (very unlikely but there's a chance).
TBH I’m just grateful for it not being just another 27” 1440p review 😁 but in terms of the G8 its curvature is an instant no I would however consider a Samsung flatty at 4k 32” FALD or micro LED with a decent IPS or OLED panel I guess the wait continues….
I considered getting the new LG 27" oled going from my 32" odyssey G7 but man, flat panels are not immersive. took me a week to get used to the curve 2 years ago when i got the odyssey g7 but i cant go back to flat. i instead upgraded present day to the neo G8 for 4k gaming at the same 32" and 1000r curve
@@lu1zp1 good for gaming but man you dont want to be using one for productivity apps, similar issue to the OLED stuff too atm. What we are missing is a monitor that is 32" 4k good for gaming, good for creativity, good for productivity and HDR whilst not being stoopid in price.

I am torn between buying this monitor and the old model, which one should I choose? What is your opinion? The brightness of the screen is very important to me, but the annoying scan line cannot be justified.
Hey, short question: Why does the screen looks so blueish while filming it while the CSGO gameplay looks warm? Does it look kind of blue ish in real Life? Thanks a lot Buddy
Were your response time testings done right after turning on the monitor or at a low brightness setting? Because those ufo shots are showing more overshoot than youd expect from the numbers so my first thought is that the running temperature was different between the 2. If not, Im guessing the response time tool just had some trouble with capturing response times
Nope, the monitor is always on for a good amount of time before conducting objective tests. Brightness level for the UFO would have been at roughly the same brightness too.
@@TotallydubbedHD that's weird, the transitions from 0 to around 64 seem to overshoot quite a bit, well this is why UFO shots are always a great addition to motion performance I guess, keep up the good work
I ordered this monitor refurbished from amazon. When it comes, i had an orange hollow near middle screen, after 10 minutes or 20, right next to it, like a white shadow same size. On gray background, when moving cursor, i saw horizontal lines on moving, example here on youtube, video with gray static image, when i slide down i saw horizontal lines on gray. This happend 1 month ago on my neo g7 too! The one with 165hz the one that is supposted to be problematic free. I returned both and don t know what to buy.
Nice review man, Do all monitors have such a delay when gsync or vrr is enabled ? I have the LG 27GP950 that I use for competitive gaming right now , any idea what the input delay is on that with gsync on? Compared to what this would be with it on?
Thanks, glad you liked it! No, most have no major delay, Samsung though seem to be notorious of having bad VRR optimization, which is odd. No idea about LG panels, so can't comment!
@@TotallydubbedHD thanks for the reply man, is the delay when you were testing on this monitor something you could “feel” or was it saying there is delay from your tests but you can’t tell the difference?
your video is very good. I play pubg, do you think I should leave adaptive sync on or off? this always confuses me. I just want to have a faster response time
Thanks! For the lowest input lag, I'd have it disabled. It shouldn't affect response time, though, Samsung panels have ironically been prone to issues with VRR (sync tech) on
Do you have the weird g sync alt tab bug @240hz + g sync on? Essentially when running@4K 240hz with GSYNC ON. If you ALT+TAB out into the desktop from any fullscreen game you would be shown a infinite black screen when you RE TAB back in. ***Issue does not occur when: *** -GSYNC is off @4k 240hz -@4k 120hz + G SYNC I am running a rtx 2080 connect via the supplied DP cable at 240hz with g sync on +10bit or 8bit mode
QQ: when u bought it and set it up the first time do u remember what was the brightness out of box? Mine was at 13 and I could barely see anything. I had to turn it up all the way to 100. If i put brightness below 70, i cant see anything, i have to turn of all lights in the room to be able to see anything. Also when I turn on HDR screen brightness becomes dimmer than SDR mode, even though at HDR i have turned brightness to 100. Did u notice any of these in ur NEO G8 display or am I the unlucky one to get the bad bacth ? Netflix, youtube etc all the do not recognise my monitor to be HDR and never show me that option even though HDR and Stream HDR is turned on in windows.

Hi, since you are super professional, I ask you! I have a rtx 4090, and I want to buy a samsung neo g8... On amazon there are 2 versions there is the 2022 version (1100€) and it is hdr10, and the 2023 version, more expensive (1400€) which is "quantum hdr2000" I would like to understand which of the two to buy, since there are no reviews of the 2023 version, I'm not rich, and I don't want to throw away my savings, but if it's really worth it, if there is really better hdr on 2023, if they have solved many problems, I would be happy to spend 1400€ to get the best monitor. Unfortunately there are none 32" oleds.... I have a tv but I suffer from motion sickness.. On the other hand if there are better monitors than the neo g8 2023, I'd be happy to hear it... I searched a lot for these answers on internet, but of the neo g8 2022 vs 2023, there is no trace even on the Samsung site where they sell it from... Thanks in advance, also from all (too many) those looking for an answer to this question... : )
The scan lines are very notisable. Very, very notisable, even while gaming! In the blue and orange colours. If you look close you can make it out in some greens as well. I sent pictures to Samsung, that sa the problem as "very notisable", but they claim they never heard of the problem before today. But still. Watching reviews on youtube shows it clearly. This is bad quality control. This was the last time i tried samsung monitors, and returning the monitor to the retailer.
@@TotallydubbedHD can you explain why because I have obviously no experience? Also can we discuss this in live chat if you have discord. Because you are the only reviewer which is strongly against it

hey man, I have a question about a monitor like this with 4k resolution. I want to buy odyssey g8 neo for gaming 4k on my ps5, but I also play csgo/cs2 on my pc where I want to play 1080p. Would 1080p look terrible on the 4k monitor? I heard people complaining about looking very blurry
Since it uses a VA panel, I could NEVER put it even close to the top, even if more expensive models can make up for the downsides of VA. I'd rather have a good IPS panel, which instead of fixing issues from cheaper panels just improves in general.. The Odyssey G5 I got was by far the worst monitor I ever had and got sent back within a day.
@@TotallydubbedHD Yep, they can save so much money on VA panels. It's getting pretty hard to find nice budget monitors without it and it's mindboggling to me since VA always have terrible blur and black smearing in cheaper models...I don't care if I can have 144 Hertz if the picture is so blurred it's unplayable (which is what I experienced with the Samsung). I just had a Lenovo G24qe-20 though, barely any reviews but it was reduced to 139€ because of black friday, which is insane for an appereantly well calibrated 24 inch 1440p IPS monitor. It's "only" 100 Hertz but that's okay, 24 inch monitors with 1440p are rare and I rather have just 100 Hertz with a good panel over 144 on a panel that's lacking in many ways. I'm excited, it should arrive soon, maybe try to find one of those too, that monitor seems to offer incredible value even at the normal price!
@@TotallydubbedHD Has to be the display or the curved plastic & matte reflection finish. Ps4 looks so zoomed in and like 30hz lock. While ps5 looks cool something about the display isn’t looking good. My 300$ 4k LED tv outputs ps4/5 way better
@@TotallydubbedHD Nope. I'd choose either a Alienware AW3423DW or LG C2 for £1,000. If I'm going IPS probably £600 max. The curve on that Samsung is too much so I'd choose either 1500-1800R or flat.
Lol, the LG C2 is a TV not a PC monitor. And the Alienware QD OLED is the most overrated monitor in the history of monitors. Web pages look like shit, 1440p is a definite no go at this price point. The Neo G8 panel makes the Alienware look like utter shit when put side by side. Even the LG32gq950 which is probably the best IPS panel out right now is a much nicer display. OLED panels are amazing, don't get me wrong, but not at 1440p for this price.
@@ronniekregar3482 You can easily use a 42" C2 as a monitor just like HardwareUnboxed does and is $400 cheaper. The response times are so low it doesn't matter. The Samsung Neo G8 literally has scan lines at 240hz in every situation and is still ways off OLED. The AW3423DW is a gaming monitor and is the best at that and it's not 1440p it's 2.5K and is easier to run without the most expensive components, Best all round is why I mentioned the C2. Neo G8 has crushed blacks which is one of the worst thing you can have for a $1,300 display. I haven't bought a display yet and I'm waiting for CES 2023 announcements.
Samsung monitors not usable even for free! After 12 pcs G8/Neo G7 all of them are joke and worst experience I had as others and I should attention to extremely negative comments ! Crazy Scanlines - Micro stutter - panel dead at short time (5 of them dead after some hour usage!) - artifacts - overshooting - ghosting - Brightness flicker - flickering - dead pixel in usage - Black crushed - eyes strain - lcd walking (old VA) - Lowest brightness - SDR/HDR issues - Gsync issues - cheapest plastic build in world - crazy curved - blooming - coating pop out after short usage - … 😂
This monitor is absolute shit. It doesn't even come close to its advertised 2000 nits peak brightness (doesn't even seem like 800 nits) even in tiny window sizes. There is an outrageous amount of brightness shift with different sizes of bright windows. Try opening a small window and dragging and resizing to full screen in HDR mode and you'll see what I'm talking about.. I've had to find a replacement for my ASUS PG27UQ which IMO is superior to this monitor in every way and I can't believe that it is so hard to find a good HDR gaming monitor in 2023.
Yeah that Asus is pretty good, I reviewed the 32" variant of it. But yes, it can be tricky to find an impressive HDR monitor; OLED IMO is the way to go.
VA is old tech and it’s have crazy lcd walking and poor view angels , I had experience with them and it’s so bad ! a little move your head colors will shifting .
Finally, a CURVED/16:9/100hz+/4k monitor! Been looking for one for quite a while as a 2nd productivity monitor. Sadly, I aint paying that kind of money for a 2nd monitor but it's good that they might start to become more commonplace (hopefully). If not, I guess I'll be waiting quite a while for the price to come down on this one... I need a curved one because my main is curved (aw3423dw - beast) and having tried a flat 4k monitor I couldn't get over how convex it looked after years of using curved ultrawide (even the very subtle curve of the X34 Predator). My brain/eyes would adjust if it was my main monitor but that's not going to be the case.
I am torn between buying this monitor and the old model, which one should I choose? What is your opinion? The brightness of the screen is very important to me, but the annoying scan line cannot be justified.
If you not pushing pass 120hz get the g7. I am late to the party and decided to get g8 version for ps5 gaming. We all know ps5 only goes to up 120hz. The monitor only cost me 524 pre-tax

What i learned watching hours of reviews
240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming )
120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines)
*Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing.
*SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING
* SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK
From this video I learned about the input lag & response times . Now i know how to get the best out of this monitor when it comes to latency. THANKYOU!!!!!!
Pleasure, glad you found the review useful
Thank you for this information !
Well better use HDMI than DP.
HDMI can get 12-bit color, A lot color than 10-bit.
But make sure set on output color depth 12-bit SDR in PC.
This monitor model HDMI 2.0 get only 120Hz max at 4K.
If you guys wanna run with Displayport 240 Hz but get only 10-bit color.
This monitor support 12 bit color, That Amazing...
** Here is all my favorite settings list of both SDR and HDR **
I tell you guys this Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is very good monitor.
9 to 16 is great
" Contrast " with 75 and 80, 90 and 100 fine.
You can change Gamma Mode 1 or 2 or 3.
I use 1 and 2.
Even you can change " Color Tone "
I use Normal and Warm 1 and Natural.

You know that settings on SDR will have different settings save from HDR on, If you run HDR will have other settings save.
So you can have two options SDR and HDR settings for saves. Great right?

I noticed if I turn the adaptive sync off, it greys out "refresh rate". Does it mean I am not getting 240 Hz anymore ?

Hey, short question: Why does the screen looks so blueish while filming it while the CSGO gameplay looks warm? Does it look kind of blue ish in real Life? Thanks a lot Buddy
My camera temperature. Doesn't look like that in real life - I've changed that recently in my new videos.

I'm so stuck, I am looking for a monitor for both a PS5 and to run a matchbook Pro M1 Pro, so I need 2xhdmi 2.1 foe sure, I wanted a ultra wide but it seems pointless as the PS5 doesn't support it then I was looking at OLED but worried about burn in while using the MacBook. So lost between the LG27 oled the samsung G8 Neo or OLED. Wanted to pick one up with the Black Friday sales but I keep yo-yo ing. Any advice appreciated!
OLEDs are great if you're willing to sacrifice text clarity on PC and know they require care vs LCDs

The HP X34! Review: ruclips.net/video/lx8vnIQn4gw/видео.html
Hi, since you are super professional, I ask you! I have a rtx 4090, and I want to buy a samsung neo g8... On amazon there are 2 versions there is the 2022 version (1100€) and it is hdr10, and the 2023 version, more expensive (1400€) which is "quantum hdr2000"
I would like to understand which of the two to buy, since there are no reviews of the 2023 version, I'm not rich, and I don't want to throw away my savings, but if it's really worth it, if there is really better hdr on 2023, if they have solved many problems, I would be happy to spend 1400€ to get the best monitor. : )
Heya, thanks!
Not sure, not tried it - can't comment about something I've not seen, sorry!

Why no one wants to make the flat VA monitor with the same specs?
Quality VA panels aren't bad
Ha, that's a good point - they're all curved!
@@TotallydubbedHD one honest question. Would you rather have a quality flat VA or IPS?
@@baseddepartment285 IPS for me all day long!
@@TotallydubbedHD can you explain why because I have obviously no experience? Also can we discuss this in live chat if you have discord. Because you are the only reviewer which is strongly against it

Also u havent done there alien test.

Not going to happen.
Hey could use some help the Alienware AW2723DF or Asus XG27AQM
Not tried the AW but can recommend the Asus
hey man, I have a question about a monitor like this with 4k resolution. I want to buy odyssey g8 neo for gaming 4k on my ps5, but I also play csgo/cs2 on my pc where I want to play 1080p. Would 1080p look terrible on the 4k monitor? I heard people complaining about looking very blurry
Shouldn't be an issue, but you'll want to adjust your scaling settings in Windows
The two things that would have made this monitor perfect: 1. A glossy screen; and 2. flat screen.
Glossy is basically non existent in gaming panels.
Fair enough, I'm with you on IPS panels too, but obviously not everyone likes them (incl manufacturers) haha
@@xPandamon fair enough! Let me know how you get on :)
we need more ips on samsung too much va

How you can reach 4K 240hz if do can only handle 4k120hz?
What?
DISPLAY STREAM COMPRESSION allows 4k 240 hz with HDMI 2.1
Ayy!! Destiny 2 thumbnail!
for 4K is small
I just got it. It’s cute but it looks low budget 4k monitor
Lol?
@@TotallydubbedHD Has to be the display or the curved plastic & matte reflection finish. Ps4 looks so zoomed in and like 30hz lock. While ps5 looks cool something about the display isn’t looking good. My 300$ 4k LED tv outputs ps4/5 way better
2000nits?! bro that is not a monitor, that is a Flashbang 💥
Eyeskiller
Haha, but it doesn't achieve it.
Don’t get fooled ! It’s fake(watch trusted reviews) It’s 320 nits at 100% screen . It’s lowest (dim) brightness I had experience .
1 grand for a VA panel when there's a OLED UW for the same price? No thanks Samsung also that curve is horrible
Would you pick a flat IPS at this price?
@@TotallydubbedHD Nope. I'd choose either a Alienware AW3423DW or LG C2 for £1,000. If I'm going IPS probably £600 max. The curve on that Samsung is too much so I'd choose either 1500-1800R or flat.
@@Kizzster thanks for sharing!
Quite the list!
I doubt that list
@@TotallydubbedHD OLED, Burn in and dimming is where i had the LG CX and had to let it go due to that.

They on sale now neo g7 799, g8 999
I am torn between buying this monitor and the old model, which one should I choose? What is your opinion? The brightness of the screen is very important to me, but the annoying scan line cannot be justified.
If you not pushing pass 120hz get the g7. I am late to the party and decided to get g8 version for ps5 gaming. We all know ps5 only goes to up 120hz. The monitor only cost me 524 pre-tax
