  • So I am doing a bunch of work on my 2015 Ultra Limited that started with a cam chain tensioner issue. While I am fixing that I wanted to address all the noise in my primary. Most of the noise is from the Compensator but I also have a howling, or humming noise which I think is from my clutch hub bearing.

    Thanks for doing this I know it was a year ago you did it but I didn't have this sound a year ago, I think that's what mine might be too!! I don't believe it's the compensator Hub the nut may be loose but I don't believe so I will check it!! again thanks take care.

    Thanks for making the video bro. I am experiencing the same noise from my 92 Heritage. Was this the source of the noise or was it the transmission shaft too?

      No it was the clutch hub bearing and basket was all notched out and chattering.

    Hey brother thank you for making the video, very informative .
    I just had my whole bike redone ,2005 15th anniversary fatboy.
    I had a local Indy do the job.
    The ipb bearing was making noise he replaced it with the upgraded to the double row bearing,and a new clutch hub assembly, but now I'm getting a racket and chattering from the primary .the compensator is the old style ,not sure if I need a spacer on the outside of the compensator nut. do you know anything about that thank you? I know there's a spacer that goes in front of the rotor which is standard.
    But the compensate is still sounds loose like you said when everything's back together with the manual tensioner you will hear the compensator preload at low RPM and idle when driving 50 it's fine. It sounds like the primary chain or the compensator preload?

    • @Notsosamurai1
      @Notsosamurai1  2 года назад +1

      I would look in to upgrading your comp if I had the older style. Those springs in the older style where week and wear out fast. I have seen people put spacers in and make it work a little longer but I wouldn't do that. It might not have enough movement to work correctly at that point and basically work like a solid gear. Let me know what you decide to do.

      @@-MrRichBiker1967 Ya it bugged the crap out of me also. It chattered at low RPM under load and made all kinds of noise at idle. The Harley Comps are garbage. My buddy shattered his screaming eagle comp on a 2019 Road Glide Ultra. No engine work, just exhaust and a tune. He got on it kinda hard but not wide open and it shattered on him.

    Did you resolve the clutch/transmission noise? I have the same issue when I pull in the clutch the noise goes away. I did find like you that the clutch hub bearing was making noise. I cleaned the bearing to resolve the noise in the bearing but have not assembled it yet.

    Dude thanks for your post. That’s exactly the sound mine is making 03 RK. She got really bad so i trailered her home & dropped at the shop. Im thinking of replacing the compensator just for good measure since hes already going to be into it. Would you say thats good pm?

      @@Notsosamurai1 hes pretty certain the problem is in the clutch. So im considering of course upgrade on compensator as its a pumped up 96” bored out with andrews cams. Im hoping to get more feed back on the dark horse compensator, is it worth the money? Over screaming eagle?

    • @Notsosamurai1
      @Notsosamurai1  3 года назад

      @@brucefell8092 Ya I would go with the dark horse. Even the screaming eagle comp can't bandle much power and is prone to break or wear out the springs and make a huge racket. The dark horse is a very solid piece. It does give you a little more vibration at lower RPMs because it doesn't move as much as the stock comp but I can deal with that over worrying about the stock comp just breaking on me.
