It was very impressive hearing him describe the exact process he used to create his channel -- I'm personally impressed by the note that, after he recorded his performances he actually revised his script to match what he actually said (before sending it to editing/localization) -- it's a peculiar pet peeve of mine when a video HAS its own transcript but (unintentionally) doesn't match the spoken audio.
Yeah, 8-4 added "*in Japanese" to the edit, so I would assume that means nothing has been translated. And given the English channel didn't do as well as the Japanese one during the time they were posted, that's not helping the case much, either.
These books are, as far as I have gathered, compilations of his famitsu columns (also in Japanese, although some have been translated by fans) with additional content (commentary on the columns etc.)
I was extremley happy when Sakuri made his channel a couple years back where I became a subscriber. I am also thankful he spent so much time making the weekly videos for all this time while still working on the side on his game that is high dedication to us gaming fans/ inside devs can learn from overall. Pretty sad to see him go, but still glad he brought all of his knowledge to share with us this whole time. I'm also happy he is willing to bring us content whenever he can as well when he has the time to like he stated in a recent video. which makes me happy as well that he's not totally obandining it just yet.
Assuming all the videos cost about the same to produce (which I know isn't the case, but still), if the whole channel cost $630,000 to make, Sakurai's cat video cost about $2,300-ish :-)
I thought Sakurai was cool before, but now he's up there with Toby Fox as someone I look up to when it comes to game development/design n' stuff. The latter has a lot of nostalgia tied to him (As well as being the one who got me interested in actually doing game dev in the first place), but the former I just hold a lot of respect for (Not to say I don't for Toby as well. Lol), *especially* now I know this whole series was done in the way it was. Completely out-of-pocket, completely free to watch, and simply because he wanted to make a positive impact and share the knowledge he's gained over the years. TL;DR: Sakurai is cool as hell and I really look up to him. :)

We have to give endless credit and praise to the experienced game designers who decided to share their knowledge with us these past few years. Sakurai, Tim Cain, Josh Sawyer, etc. because them being able to just put out there what makes games interesting and fun, as well as the internal process of what game dev is *actually* like is just so invaluable to us as consumers.

I think there's nobody I look up to more than to Mr. Sakurai. At least regarding all of his work and how he approaches it. He's so passionate and hardworking and he truly wants people to learn and to bring the industry forward. It's incredible.
I don't know if the new game that Sakurai could announce might be something for Super Smash Bros, Kid Icarus, or Kirby or maybe he could reveal something for Kirby Right Back At Ya like a reboot or a sequel for it but I guess we'll see what Sakurai has any plans for what this new project he's working on is going to be

As someone who has to deal with RFPs (request for proposal) on the regular, I feel for him. Sakarai seems like a really nice guy and the channel is insightful. Glad he put it out there.

I really enjoyed all of Sakurai's videos though some were shorter and less in depth than I'd expected. I'd also hoped he'd finish off with a nice postmortem of the original Kirby game and going over the challenges during it's development.

The way he loves recording himself verbally telling people about his games makes me wonder if he picked that up from Iwata. Considering he's 51 now, it makes sense for him to slow down for the sake of burnout and physical health. I just hope Nintendo will allow him to get the rest he needs, before asking him to work on a new Smash Bros.

I would say that Sakurai at least have some moderate wealth. That is because he holds the rights to Kirby. Which basically means that any Kirby merchandise sold gives him at least some money. Its hard to know how much Nintendo shares the profits of their IPs , and many accounts imply it's not very much, but still, Kirby sells like hot cakes. That makes me admire the man even more. He could walk the GameFreaks path and make money on Kirby until the end of the world, but he chose to leave his own character in the hands of Nintendo and work at indie solo projects .
