The Wombles was a kids TV show featuring a family of large woolly puppets who lived on Wimbledon Common in London and picked up all the litter. They had a few hit records as well as the TV show. Everyone in England would know what a Womble is !
The episode was cancelled in 1992 as a murder happened at around the same time it was due to be aired at Wimbledon Common. Was later shown after series 3 had finished in 1995, thats why you probably didn't see it
