They did tell him to tone it down a bit, which makes perfect sense if you've ever seen him at press conferences.
An idiot in a stupid and ill advised remake. Such a poor film.
The Restaurant beside The Glass Book was the Double Deuce... The name of the Original "Roadhouse".
I saw an interview with Gyllenhaal and O'Connor. The interviewer asked about how O'Connor played the role. He said the director said, "You know how you act in front of the cameras at the weigh ins? Act like that".
Who is this "O'Connor"?? ;-)

With the sleeping in your car and having a cop tell you to move on... I've had that happen to me once, told them I had been out drinking and had to many to drive. Had two friends in the car with me and they were trying to figure out when I was drinking but at least keep quiet until we drove somewhere else.
Connor McGregor playing himself. I don't think he knows how to be anything but extra. While I'm not a fan of his he was entertaining.
All in all I went in watching this with zero expectations. After hearing some good reviews I took a chance.
I was so surprised at how good it was. I wish they would have named it something else. While there was some awesome throwbacks to the original and Jake had gotten a tattoo with the initials 'P.S.' after he got the part.

my one gripe with the ending is that dalton still leaves the keys lol. so the bad guys ended up winning anyway, just didn't get to build the resort

@@StandUpComedyFan28m Crocodiles have a more slender snout and get bigger. Teeth look different to. Although technically, Alligators are Crocodilians.
South Florida has the American Saltwater Crocodile. They can be found from Cape Canaveral to Key West. Also in the Everglades. American Saltwater Crocodiles are less aggressive than their cousins in the South Pacific. But a crocodile is a crocodile so I wouldn’t press my luck on my not becoming diner……

the original road house is overrated.. its like a 90s action game, jagged alliance ... this have more charm i think.. a fun movie

I think it's the writing that let this down, it just didn't have the charm of the original or anything that makes it memorable. It's no surprise that McGregor can't act, but if his character had been written better he could have really added something to the movie, and unfortunately Jake Gyllenhaal just didn't have much to work with, and his troubled past just seemed like an afterthought because if that really happened everyone in that bar and definitely every one of those bikers would have known Exactly who he was.
They would have been better off changing 1 or 2 scenes and calling it something different... no one would have ever compared it to Roadhouse and it would have at least been your average popcorn flick.
I laughed that he was called in for a bar that was suppose to be run down, and it's basically a beach bar that is very common in Florida.
Acting was sub par all around. This made the direct to DVD sequel to the original from years back watchable by comparison.

Your wife was spot on the vibe of this movie was weird, and off.
I really hate to be a negative guy here but this movie was garbage so it wasn't Conor McGregor's acting lol and that's not even me trying to be biased because Patrick swayze is the man in most OG movies are way better than the remakes but in this situation it stands lol
If you want a wholesome family movie to watch try 1982's Savannah smiles, if you haven't seen it yet.
I really liked this one. Knox was one of my favorite characters. I did not like the Austin Post fight it took me out at the beginning with the CG punches but after that i liked it.

There are only two real plots... "The hero's journey" and "A stranger comes to town"...
I enjoyed this remake. Not perfect but entertaining. And FYI, Cuban coffee and black coffee are different. It’s like the difference between riding a bike and a rollercoaster. You discover that the hard way.
Not sure if anyone commented yet but Conor McGregor started walking like this to the cage to be over the top, like Vince McMahon. Loved Jake Gyllenhaal in this but two of his best, End of Watch and Prisoners

The original roadhouse is premised around a true story where a rich guy terrorized a small town. I think the bartender thing is in the true story.
And nobody saw a thing when it came to that guy dying, just like Brad.

Nice reaction to a terrible remake! You don't give a f... about any of the characters, the whole story about the roadhouse is neglected, CG enhanced actionscenes, that the original movie didn't need, a forgettable soundtrack, etc. etc. . And this irritaing Conor McGregor is totally overacting. Remember "Taz" from "Looney Tunes"? That's exactly his role! I wish I could make this awful movie unseen.

I can only guess that Mr. Movies is similar in age to me....early to mid 30's based on his awesome NWO shirt the Mrs "Royal Rumble" Shirt. I loved this reaction, but am super disappointed you're not apart of the NWO, Wolfpack! ;)
There's only one Road House movie I will ever watch and that's the original with Patrick Swayze.
Same for Point Break
I never saw the Point Break remake but it looked even worse than the Road House remake. I'll stick with the originals for both.

Nobody cares what you watch. The old one was cheesy as hell it’s no Oscar winner. Just like the remake isn’t. Only old people say this shit because that movie reminds them of a time their whole bodies weren’t covered in wrinkles
I like some of the older one better, but I would take Connor as the villain over the dude with the earring. I would even say Jake was as good as Swayze. At least they made him more of a real fighter. Not that Tai chi garbage. Sam Elliot though, he stole the show in the original, and was by far the best part.

They didn’t bring back Sam Elliot because he died in the original Road House.

An absolute dumpster fire of a film. Should never had been made, Connor can fight, but cannot act and looks like an idiot in this film. Talk about poor choices. Worst film of the last 10 years
This reimagined version of roadhouse was very well done, the fight scenes are really good, the story is solid, the villians hilarious and the change of location was refreshing , the soundtrack is brilliant. Connor and Jakes battle at the end was excellent.For anyone dissing this film dont forget one thing the original was full of cheese and corny moments and had a really poor ending.

I turned off the movie halfway through cause I was falling asleep.
The movie is actually pretty good.... UNTIL conor shows up and turns it into a cringefest.

The CGI in the fights took me out of the fights allot.
The fights weren't CGI. They had the actors punch pads and inserted people reacting to them. It looks weird. First time someone has done this, but it will probably be the norm in 4 or 5 years

@@jesses5463 I agree. But it didn't look as weird as Post Malone full CGI fight in the beginning. I guess a better way to say is not full CGI🤔. Maybe it'll get better in the future.
I only had a problem with the first fight. It was absolutely terrible. It's like they just took the first take on every shot. If Kubrick was directing this the combatants would have done every single shot at least 100 different times to make sure it was correct.
While I want to blame the director, this could also just be a casting issue. It seems likely this Post Malone dude was probably paid quite well for very little time on the set. They weren't gonna double his pay just to get all the shots right.
Anyways, I thought the other fights were pretty good. It's not like fights in 80s movies like Road House were super incredible themselves.

I'm assuming you watched Ted Lasso since you watched Shrinking. If not, please react to it. Finally, @ 20:23 FATALITY! They never forget. Agree 100% mediocre movie.

Connor said in one of his roadhouse interviews that this is not a remake of the road house, it's a reimagination of it! Plus if you ever saw the movie donnie darko with gyllenhaal in that movie he tells a young overweight teenage girl that her life would change, I guess not! she is back knocking on his boat door LOL!!!

They sadly already did a Dirty Dancing remake for TV a few years back and it was beyond garbage.
First 15 minutes of this movie were terrible, but after that I found it to be pretty entertaining and an overall good homage to the original. Yes, it's not the greatest movie, but neither was the original.
And wasn't Jonah in a dancing movie already? Lol
The constant weird smile on O'Connor's face made it so hard for me to take him seriously as a threat/bad guy.

The doctor's dad (sheriff)played the old priest in the prison in episode 2 of Shogun.
He was also the villain in Clear and Present Danger, Desperado, and Fast Five.
The original is way better then this shit and the fights are so bad 😂 it’s like watching a monster verse fight 99% cgi 😴
