Yeah, she's really talented; it's a shame she hasn't gotten a lot of big projects after this. She's done guest roles in TV shows, some indie movies and a TV pilot that wasn't picked up, but nothing that became as popular as the Happy Death Day movies

@@najhoant, yeah. She had a small role in Happy Endings, starting the great Elisha Cuthbert.
The night she actually ate the cupcake, Tree told the security guard at the hospital she'd died "sixteen times in a row." If we assume she wasn't exaggerating, then she died 17 times and survived the loop on her 18th attempt.
And she says in the second movie that she died 11 times.
Hard to believe the actress playing Tree (Jessica Rothe) was already 30 here. Probably still gets carded at 36.
This was one of those films that had no business being good, but it ended up really good and spawned a good sequel.

Yes! and while its not a sequel, Freaky (by the same director) is arguably even better!
I was dead sure this movie would suck and for some reason I went see it anyway. I ended up loving the pace and sceneography and sort of enamoured by Tree, who has the best attitude ever.
I think most people expected it to suck and most people were pleasantly surprised that it was great. I was the same way lol.

Just FYI, the sequel actually explains why this time loop happened in the first place, so that's pretty neat!
Personally, I don't think the sequel is as good as the first movie, but I still really enjoy it. It's such a fun duology overall.
Agreed. Not as good but still enjoyable and fun. Would be ok with a third and final film to wrap up where things left off in part 2.
@@TA3DArtist Yeah, I'd actually love for them to make one more Happy Death Day movie! And I'm not one for pointless sequels (usually), there's just still a lot of fun to be had with this series, I feel like.
her name is Tree, nobody thought of using a chainsaw or axe.
Hospitals do have generators to back up power. However, there is usually a brief "hand-off" period between lose of power and the generators starting up and taking over. Thus, most vital medical equipment in a hospital has a battery backup if power goes out.
The second movie more deeply goes into the cause of the loops, and the significance of the blackouts.
Mr. should get credit for the guess because he guessed based upon a clue some people might have missed. He recognized the evidence that pointed to only one specific person.
He did guess the roommate when the killer dropped a birthday candle that set fire to the cop car she was in and exploded. But he also didn't stay with his guess after the first mask reveal of the serial killer in the hospital and admitted it was an obvious choice.
The evolution of her character throughout the movie really is the best part of it. It's not even the deaths that does it, but seeing all the things she ignored about her regular life. Definitely worth checking out the sequel.

I don't think they are cause the second didn't do that good at the Box Office and the money the Movie earned wasn't that much
I love this movie, what if Groundhog Day was a teen slasher movie?
Who could have foreseen that was a winning combination?
But like chocolate and peanut butter it’s a weird idea for an odd combination that nobody would ever think of until somebody did it and the result turned out fantastic.
I always thought that Phil C in Groundhog Day probably went into slasher mode... but we weren't shown those days.

I think, time loop movies are always fun.
"Groundhog Day" is the best (but not the first). I like that most of them bring a new aspect to the story. One of the best recent ones, is "Palm Springs". Hope you check it out like of course "Happy Death Day 2 U" and "Boss Level".
Normally not a fan of thrillers but I found this one to be quite enjoyable. Also liked the sequel that actually explains the time loop and expands on it in an interesting way.
As someone who has worked in a few hospitals for the past 24 years, lights absolutely can go off like that. It takes a bit for the diesel generator to start. Anything that absolutely needed to be on, ran through a UPS or had some sort of battery option built in.
Shoulda read the comments. I was beaten multiple times.

Hello Mrs. & Mr. Movies!😊 I am a fan of this film and the sequel "Happy Death Day 2 U" (2019) which is like a Part 2. I'm a fan of Jessica Rothe (Tree) as well. Fans have been pushing for a third film for a long time. Tree's roommate (Ruby Modine) is Matthew Modine's daughter. Great reactions to this well made Groundhogesque film, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
It wasn't a full movie. But that LOOP SCENE in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master was pretty cool and different for the time it came out, ("We're BOTH asleep!"). Dream Master was 1988 and GROUNDHOG Day was in 1993.
You need to watch Freaky after you watch this series. Same director, same energy

It always makes me so sad how the one day where she is really nice to everyone and everything goes well wasn't the final day. Like her issues with her dad being resolved etc are just thrown out the window. But I guess at least she managed to get out of this loop!

The first time I saw this movie, I knew who the killer was going to be. The reason? The trailer for the second movie spoiled it! I hadn't seen this before the trailer for the second movie came out, so I was like "Great, thanks for spoiling the reveal!"
I still enjoyed the movie, though, when I finally did get to see it
The 2 best time loop movies after GROUNDHOG'S DAY and EDGE OF TOMORROW are
BOSS LEVEL (2021) and PALM SPRINGS (2020).
Mr Movies will like BOSS LEVEL. Think EDGE OF TOMORROW taken to the highest game level (hence the name). Its stars Frank Grillo, Naomi Watts, Will Sasso and Mel Gibson. HAPPY DEATH DAY is nothing compared to BOSS LEVEL.
And Mrs. Movies will love PALM SPRINGS. It explores time looping from the perspective of two people (a nihilistic young guy and a pragmatic young gal) getting stuck in the loop and the relationship that develops from the experience. It's a very intelligent romcom time loop movie starring Andy Samberg, Cristin Milloti, J.K. Simmons and Peter Gallagher.
Every time I see a video from you two, I like it automatically. Love ya' guys! Just realized, your home backdrop -- green screen, lol!!!! I thought for years is was actually wood paneling and what not. Bought a new PC. Better monitor. My god, I was laughing my ass off!!!!!
The wood paneling is a homage to our early reactions when we were in a different house in a room full of actual wood paneling. We keep it on the green screen because it just feels right.

Just an FYI, backup generators do not start immediately after a power failure. If power does not resume within 10 seconds, then the backup generator turns on.
I work on transfer switches and good generators will immediately switch. Kind of important.
When I first found this channel, because of the voice I presumed Mrs. Movies was related to Kate Micucci
i've never gotten around to Edge of Tomorrow, but I watched this movie on a whim, don't even remember how i heard about it, but I really enjoyed it, I know i've seen the sequel but don't remember anything about it, but this one I remembered who the killer was right away and it's been a few years since I watched it.
Edge of Tomorrow is excellent.
This is just a silly fun time of a movie and I loved every second of it. Enjoyed the sequel too.

Palm Springs (2020) is actually a good "Groundhog Day"-style time loop movie that works for Valentine's Day.
🤔 _Valentine's_ Day? No. Not if my brief, cursory research is any indication. No, what I've found is that the _sequel_ came out the day before Valentine's Day, but _this_ one came out on October 13th.
I feel like I've seen this before.

Palm Springs with Andy Samberg is another Looper movie you could check out. It's very good and I think the titular character in that one may have been stuck in there for a few years longer than Bill Murray

There's a film called: "The endless" that has a much more interesting compelling reason things repeat. There's also a dark comedy film with repeating days that's good called: "Palm Springs"

There is one awsome time loop movie you should have a look - Boss Level. Entertaining action movie with fun cast & a pinch of sci-fi.
I love this and the sequel. This being Groundhog Day but a slasher film. I also love another film from the same production company called Totally Killer which is Back to the Future but as a slasher film, the also have Freaky (Freaky Friday but a slasher film).

My birthday is September 18th. So I enjoy the fact that this film takes place on my birthday AND it's the main character's birthday as well.
