    Art actually does go after children. Before Terrifier was the direct to video anthology movie "All Hallow's Eve". It is a compilation of two short films Damien Leone had made, put into one movie, with Art the Clown as the anchor. It also co-stars the woman from the beginning of Terrifier (Katie McGuire) who got her eyes gouged out. The guy who plays Art is Mike Gianelli, who is now a retired actor and a friend of Damien Leone.

    Random facts: Although the character is called Art the Clown he is technically a Mime. The actor portraying Art is trained as a Mime and used his teachings in the films portrayal of Art the Clown.
    The pizzeria scene was originally supposed to be a Burger Shop but was changed last minute when the director found out both actresses where vegetarian.
    Also the Ambulance that went by after the radio news report was unplanned. A real ambulance passed by the car during the filming of that scene and it worked so well they kept that take.

  • @falcon048
    @falcon048 10 месяцев назад +14

    I didn't have a whole lot of hope that this movie was going to be any good when I first heard about it. Then I went to a horror convention and the Director was there pushing it. He had the Bluray and I took a chance on it. I personally loved it. I rank it in my top 5. Now, I constantly hear how, "the writing is bad." "the acting is bad" and "the plot was bad." I don't see it that way. How is the plot bad? If this plot is bad, then every single slasher film or film that deals with a killer, is also a bad plot. Because the plots are identical. There's a guy. He's killing people. People die as a result and someone lives to tell the tale. So, I refuse to accept that it is a bad plot. As for the writing, what's "bad writing?" I think people say something is bad writing when they don't know what it is about something they don't like. The writing was fine; it was serviceable to the plot. That is all writing ever has to be. The dialogue wasn't anything special because it doesn't have to be. What existential rhetoric and exposition needs to be said when you're trying to survive a serial killer? Acting? I have seen bad acting and this isn't it. This wasn't some ma-pa shot-on-video dead-pan delivery. How convincing did we need that these people were in trouble? Sorry, I don't think their line delivery was all that bad; I have seen MUCH worse. The actor who played Art the Clown, stole the show with his physical acting. He never spoke ONE single word. He didn't even make sound when he gets hurt. That's very innovative. The final girl is mutilated and becomes violent and psychotic. How many horror movies have the final girl in that state? I can't think of any. So...again...it's not bad writing. The special effects are indeed what sends this movie over the top. Damien, the director, is the Special Effects artist...as well as Writer, Editor and Producer. So, what would be helpful, for anyone who wants to mark this movie as "bad" will need to offer some measure to explain why it is bad before I will accept their "opinion."

      When people say that the movie has a bad plot they mean that anyone can replicate a Terrifier movie if they had the motivation. You, me, the bro working your nearby Starbucks can come up with a slasher villain and just chop people up with no rhyme or reason terminator-style and the makers of Terrifier wouldn't be able to sue and win royalties (unless you used Art the Clown's look for the villain). There are no plot mechanics that make a Terrifier film distinct.
      For instance if you came up with a villain who "kills people in their dreams" the Craven estate would be breathing down your neck because people would identify that plot point as belonging to Freddy Krueger. When you, a casual viewer, discuss the villain who kills people in their dreams Freddy Kruger is instantly recognizable as the villain. Art however has no story that would identify him to people in casual conversation. The "movie with the clown who kills people" could relate to any number of movie monsters. The plot is so generic that the movie has no connective tissue to real life. Terrifier is good horror spectacle but that's about it.

I've grown up watching flicks like Pieces, Make Them Die Slowly (Cannibal Ferox), Faces of Death, The Gore Gore Girls, Pink Flamingos, Female trouble, Maniac, New York Ripper, Eraserhead, Henry; portrait of a Serial killer, Blood Sucking Freaks and the sort. Only one scene is really bad in T1. The story is so goofy that the kills become cartoonish. And can Art teleport as well as open locked car doors magically?

    these movies were made to feel like something from the early 80s. While the first one is straight up a slasher type, the sequel goes into the fantasy elements of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Currently there are 3 movies that feature Art the Clown. In order they are 'All Hallow's Eve', Terrifier, and Terrifier 2. There will be a 3 coming out in a year or so. All Hallow's Eve is an anthology movie with several different stories including a wrap around that connects them all. They all have to do with Art the Clown is some way. One is basically the original Terrifier story that was done way before All Hallow's Eve but was included within the movie. By the looks of it, it takes place sometime after part 2 due to Art being supernatural in it.
