I’ve been building model kits since I was a kid. I’ve been creating my own models from scratch using found items and by kit bashing starting 15-20 years ago. In my chosen career as a land surveyor and technical/architectural draftsman I’ve created architectural scale models - professional dioramas - representing, subdivisions and single to multi-story buildings. I thought I knew a lot about how to make a realistic looking, true to life imitation in miniature. Now I see this video. This one model/diorama has just shown me a whole new level of reality based model building that I never previously imagined or even knew existed. What an incredible, interesting display! I absolutely love the freeze frame look of the explosion. I’m amazed! Cudos to the builder. And thanks for sharing!

@@ForestWizardLookingForPotion and how is your first day on the internet going so far? I considered disliking just because of that incredibly awful pop techno, that's the kind of crap that will be in elevators in hell
The projectile coming out of the barrel is wrong. A Merkava would be firing HEAT (High Explosive Antitank) or APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) most likely. The former of those is a cylinder with a probe sticking out and the latter is a sub caliber dart with fins at that back (and also pieces of the discarding sabot flying out of the barrel). Possibly the LAHAT antitank missile as well. Not an artillery shell like that. The only tank ammunition that looks anything like that would be HESH (High Explosive Squash Head), which is only used out of rifled barrels like on the British Challenger II - the Merkava, like most modern tanks, uses a smoothbore gun. You would think that someone who goes through all that effort to build that would do a little basic research on the correct ammunition type.
@James Ferry It's pertinent. If you're going for ultra-realism, which he clearly is, some basic research into what kind of ammunition the tank you're building fires seems like common sense.
Probably because of a lack of audio, I would have preferred to have had some discussion about his process, and choices he makes for the construction of this diorama. Personally, I liked the video and I'm happy I stumbled onto it and hope to see more. Here's a thumbs up👍 for Craftstation.
