Lynette Yoder I agree!! my bf bought a boat 3 years ago, it still hasn’t seen the water. we’re from WNY (buffalo suburb) so our summer time is short to begin with. it was a project boat but he’s sunk (ha! pun intended) a lot of $$ into it already, $3-4 thousand. 14 foot 35 plus year old boat. already told him i won’t be going in it, don’t care that it has a corvette motor in it.

This was such a fun discussion! I can't believe this, but you and your husband are exactly the opposite of us on the boat issue. I said we didn't need one, didn't have a good place to park it, etc...but finally relented. Soon it was time for a bigger one, and now it's an ongoing question of even bigger. Agreeing on priorities can be rather tricky but it can and does work if each one is willing to bend and work through it together.

Wow 4,000 sq ft is huge! We just moved from 1400 to 2900 (not including a big garage and a lot of attic space) and are loving it! I’m sure you will too! Can’t wait to see it

We have been blessed with 5 kiddos, aged 2-12. However, my mother in law always says that you don't even notice any extra work after 5 kids! We have found that our kids do just help out and have more of a "we" attitude instead of a "me" attitude. I think that however many children families have, a lot of who they are depends on the way they are raised. And it seems like you will do just fine! You seem to compliment each other well! And have fun with each other! My hubby got me a wall hanging that says "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful." It is a wonderful reminder to me to look at the life we have, notice all the little blessings, and to not stress about everything being just so. You hit the nail on the head as to why we left Lancaster County. We probably could have bought 500 acres in Kentucky for the price of 40 in Lancaster County. That's also why we have so many Amish and Mennonite communities planted across the state over the last forty years. Many of them came here as large, extended family groups in order to stay together, and the family who didn't come comes down by bus regularly. We did get 96 acres for $50,000 back in the mid seventies. It still is probably only worth a couple hundred grand now. I can't imagine what a farm in Lancaster County sells for now. I get told I talk fast all the time too. I think that is just Lancaster.
I'm a recent viewer ( few weeks) and I'm amazed at how many very personal questions you receive and respond to. For me it's way too intrusive but to each his own. Hats off to you both for your willingness to be so open n share your life with the world.

I totally agree, I hate commercials! We didn't have a TV until our youngest was 2 years old (and we limited screen time as well). You are correct, having a young child watching too much TV affects their development... so keep on limiting her screen time!

New viewer here. Wow, it is so nice to see a young couple who is mature, dedicated to their family, financially responsible, with their own business/house, etc.! Pardon me for sticking my nose in where it does not belong, but I encourage to keep your kids screen free/limited as long as you can. (At least while they are under 5.) Once they start, it's so hard to get them to stop. I have a bit of an outsider's perspective. I don't have kids (not by choice) but I do a lot of child care. I've seen parents who started off committed to limiting screen time finally just give in. It is "easier", in that you can get more done around the house because they're not underfoot. But I've seen how the family dynamics change. Even my relationship with the kids has changed because they'd rather stare at a screen than spend time with me. Again, it's none of my business, especially as a new viewer. But I just thought I'd share my own experience. My heart goes out to parents today. I know every generation has their challenges. But I do think it's way more difficult today than when I was growing up in the 80s.

Your Q & A was so interesting thanks for sharing from this Q & A it sounds like our husbands would get along. My husband works in construction and his speciality is roofing. However, his preferred work is remodels. Looking forward to more videos and updates on the move. We live near Dayton, Virginia and my husband grew up conservative Mennonite and I was once conservative Mennonite and we are so blessed to have a lot of family close by his parents are 15 minutes from us and my family is 25 minutes away and it's such a blessing.
Having two babies so close in age is like having twins but going through labor twice. My two oldest are 19 months apart and when they were ages 4 and 5 everyone would ask me if they were twins. You’re right though it’s like having twins. I loved it. I wish I had my last two right after I had my two oldest but god gave me my angels as he wanted. My baby is 17 now I wish so much they were little again. I love watching your channel!!! You’re amazing!!!!
You two are adorable. I live in Texas, near Houston. I work in Houston and drive 1 hour each way Monday thru Friday. The nearest grocery store to my house is at least 30 minutes away....haha so cute 20 minutes. I just love watching y'all. Congrats on the new house.

I totally agree on the screen time my oldest I don’t think had screen time till he was 2 or 3 but then the younger ones got more screen time just because of the older one. It is nice to have them close together but it’s also very challenging when their is 5 under 4 but the older they get the more I’m glad they were so close together and now that their is a big gap between the 4 and the Lord only knows when the 5th one will happen! You’s do very well with regular date night.

We have been looking for a place with a shop, land and a big enough house for 6 people, here in Lanc Co. and it is very frustrating! Anything in the southern end and Ephrata area is crazy overpriced it seems. Glad you found a place, cant wait to see the tour!

Your channel looks really professional - there is no way I could have done what you are doing when my kids were that age! I love Ephrata. My in-law's live there and we would love to move there. Right now it's a 45 minute drive for us which isn't so bad but the turnpike tolls are crazy.

Oh boy Louisiana really is known for characteritically poor roads as well. I mean as soon as you cross the state line the entire rhythm beneath your tires changes from smooth to feeling as though there are bubbles in your tire tread and the sound goes from a quiet whirring to a lagging drumbeat of curplunking! And it doesn't matter from which direction you drive in from or what Hwy or Interstate you travel upon...you just have to wonder where the tax dollars actually went lol?
Oh my goodness Pennsylvania has the worst roads. 😉 We came to visit my SIL in Quakertown and one of the highways was nothing but bumps! I think it was 76. It actually broke the axel on the truck we were using to pull a trailer to NH. My husband vowed to never go to his sister’s house again on the way to NH due to the awful roads.
I saw your house on the emails from my realtor. we are currently house hunting. We are putting an offer in on a house in Ronks. 🤗 I love what you said about praying how to use the space for God! That's a great reminder.
I'm currently living in Chicago, IL where $400,000 would get you maybe 1000-2000 sq ft house with no yard/privacy (sometimes you can see from your window into the house of your neighbor and vice versa!). So cool to see the difference; thank you for sharing!
I understand totaly!! my hubby and I will be married 38 yrs this Aug. and he has had his own business sense before we married. as a General Contractor. he's a journeyman carpenter and plumber .drywall, and has built everything inside and out. and he's 71 yrs young now and still loves his work. he has always been choicey about how he does business with. he loves working for ladies because they know what they want. where he says men change there mind to many times or they say you just do it. and he tells them no. I don't live here! oh you two are funny and you remind me of my hubby and I. that's a good thing. I do the driving mostly now days. and Ha ha we do the same thing.. I pass the turn off and then I go Darn!! we were talking and I forgot to turn off the freeway... then we laugh.. Josh does get a man cave... the Shop!! :) with out youngest we didn't have internet for many years. due to we lived to far out in the country. but she had a computer and I bought her learning games for reading,math etc. then when we got internet and we had TV she only got to watch PBS and things like that. Ones that taught her and she only got to watch it for no more then 2 hours a day. and she has always been an honor student. and she is in College now. she will be a Jr. this Aug. she LOVES to read. and when she was young and she got a time out in her room. she loved it. because she would just read... so when had to not let her read. and that broke her heart. and that was the hardest thing I had to do. I totally agree, I hate commercials! We didn't have a TV until our youngest was 2 years old (and we limited screen time as well). You are correct, having a young child watching too much TV affects their development... so keep on limiting her screen time!
Love your videos! 1) I used to talk really fast too but found out my thyroid medication dose was too high. 2) You are so fortunate to move near family. That is wonderful.
I have to smile when you talk about 20 min-1 hr apart... We live out west where it doesn't take long to get to places but both of our parents live in the east (PA/VA). :)

New viewer here. Wow, it is so nice to see a young couple who is mature, dedicated to their family, financially responsible, with their own business/house, etc.!
Pardon me for sticking my nose in where it does not belong, but I encourage to keep your kids screen free/limited as long as you can. (At least while they are under 5.) Once they start, it's so hard to get them to stop. I have a bit of an outsider's perspective. I don't have kids (not by choice) but I do a lot of child care. I've seen parents who started off committed to limiting screen time finally just give in. It is "easier", in that you can get more done around the house because they're not underfoot. But I've seen how the family dynamics change. Even my relationship with the kids has changed because they'd rather stare at a screen than spend time with me. Again, it's none of my business, especially as a new viewer. But I just thought I'd share my own experience. My heart goes out to parents today. I know every generation has their challenges. But I do think it's way more difficult today than when I was growing up in the 80s.

Your Q & A was so interesting thanks for sharing from this Q & A it sounds like our husbands would get along. My husband works in construction and his speciality is roofing. However, his preferred work is remodels. Looking forward to more videos and updates on the move. We live near Dayton, Virginia and my husband grew up conservative Mennonite and I was once conservative Mennonite and we are so blessed to have a lot of family close by his parents are 15 minutes from us and my family is 25 minutes away and it's such a blessing.
Having two babies so close in age is like having twins but going through labor twice. My two oldest are 19 months apart and when they were ages 4 and 5 everyone would ask me if they were twins. You’re right though it’s like having twins. I loved it. I wish I had my last two right after I had my two oldest but god gave me my angels as he wanted. My baby is 17 now I wish so much they were little again. I love watching your channel!!! You’re amazing!!!!
You two are adorable. I live in Texas, near Houston. I work in Houston and drive 1 hour each way Monday thru Friday. The nearest grocery store to my house is at least 30 minutes away....haha so cute 20 minutes. I just love watching y'all. Congrats on the new house.

I totally agree on the screen time my oldest I don’t think had screen time till he was 2 or 3 but then the younger ones got more screen time just because of the older one. It is nice to have them close together but it’s also very challenging when their is 5 under 4 but the older they get the more I’m glad they were so close together and now that their is a big gap between the 4 and the Lord only knows when the 5th one will happen! You’s do very well with regular date night.

Another point about being self-employed - TAXES! Paying state and federal income taxes is a huge burden for anyone who is self-employed.
Megan you are doing great!! Limit or no screen time!! I have 4 and it’s hard but not impossible!! The are more aware they are of their surroundings and creative, the more compassionate they are.

We have been looking for a place with a shop, land and a big enough house for 6 people, here in Lanc Co. and it is very frustrating! Anything in the southern end and Ephrata area is crazy overpriced it seems. Glad you found a place, cant wait to see the tour!

I love Ephrata. My in-law's live there and we would love to move there. Right now it's a 45 minute drive for us which isn't so bad but the turnpike tolls are crazy.

Oh boy Louisiana really is known for characteritically poor roads as well. I mean as soon as you cross the state line the entire rhythm beneath your tires changes from smooth to feeling as though there are bubbles in your tire tread and the sound goes from a quiet whirring to a lagging drumbeat of curplunking! And it doesn't matter from which direction you drive in from or what Hwy or Interstate you travel upon...you just have to wonder where the tax dollars actually went lol?

Oh my goodness Pennsylvania has the worst roads. 😉 We came to visit my SIL in Quakertown and one of the highways was nothing but bumps! I think it was 76. It actually broke the axel on the truck we were using to pull a trailer to NH. My husband vowed to never go to his sister’s house again on the way to NH due to the awful roads.

I'm currently living in Chicago, IL where $400,000 would get you maybe 1000-2000 sq ft house with no yard/privacy (sometimes you can see from your window into the house of your neighbor and vice versa!). So cool to see the difference; thank you for sharing!

I understand totaly!! my hubby and I will be married 38 yrs this Aug. and he has had his own business sense before we married. as a General Contractor. he's a journeyman carpenter and plumber .drywall, and has built everything inside and out. and he's 71 yrs young now and still loves his work. he has always been choicey about how he does business with. he loves working for ladies because they know what they want. where he says men change there mind to many times or they say you just do it. and he tells them no. I don't live here! oh you two are funny and you remind me of my hubby and I. that's a good thing. I do the driving mostly now days. and Ha ha we do the same thing.. I pass the turn off and then I go Darn!! we were talking and I forgot to turn off the freeway... then we laugh.. Josh does get a man cave... the Shop!! :) with out youngest we didn't have internet for many years. due to we lived to far out in the country. but she had a computer and I bought her learning games for reading,math etc. then when we got internet and we had TV she only got to watch PBS and things like that. Ones that taught her and she only got to watch it for no more then 2 hours a day. and she has always been an honor student. and she is in College now. she will be a Jr. this Aug. she LOVES to read. and when she was young and she got a time out in her room. she loved it. because she would just read... so when had to not let her read. and that broke her heart. and that was the hardest thing I had to do. I really appreciate where you stand on screen time with your kiddos! Keep that up mamma! Over winter zahra was allowed some screen time, and I couldn’t believe how much of attitude we dealt with! It’s amazing how you can tell which kids have screen time n which don’t!
