Try making shallot butter for the crab meat. Dice 1-2 shallots and saute in melted butter until translucent, place in a ceramic container and chill until solid butter again. When ready to use for the crab, just melt it and pour over the crab. Eat and enjoy.
Man that blew me away when the Seal popped up! That's so awesome! I've been terrified of the ocean for so long and am starting to get the urge to start conquering that fear. I've been snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef here in Australia and I was mortified haha. So incredible to see a reef drop off into a big blue hole but oh my god it gets my cosmic anxiety flowing. Cheers for the content as always mate, you're a legend.

Cracking vid guys! Have a spinal condition that stops me being able to walk very far, have to use a wheelchair for distances & can't climb stairs or hills. It's incredibly frustrating when you're adventurous by nature & developed an obsession with fishing late in life 😂. Watching you explore that beautiful cove was the next best thing to being able to do it in person John, you really bring what you're doing alive. Such a beautiful spot & the underwater footage was superb. That morning, combined with a family cook up on the beach in the afternoon really is life goal dreams! 👌 Perfect way to spend a day on shore. Thanks for another great vid 👍
Maybe i just have a very simple humor but the way the crabs reacted when he held them and when they were let go made me laugh out loud, it looked so funny to me

Hi Sandra. I live in Plymouth, about 70 miles east of where this video was shot. The level of virus here is now nearly down to zero so I've started going to the supermarket again wearing my face mask. I encourage you to get out and and long as you are not too close to people it is fine especially outside where there is fresh air. This year is of course the 400 th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower from Plymouth and we are celebrating it here - the coronavirus has made that a bit more difficult but it is still happening. Some of the buildings that were in existence in 1620 are still standing, including a pub that was about 100 years old when the Mayflower sailed. Best wishes, Stu McCabe.
@@stumccabe Ours is down but still there it is just not gone yet. My children are the main reason I don't go anywhere. They don't like me going out. I enjoy being home which makes it easier. But the videos with the Lockers are so enjoyable. I look forward to every new video. Sometimes I watch them over again in case I missed something the first time. I enjoy looking at the countryside there. It is beautiful. It makes me want to go there. While most people want to visit the sunny beaches I always wanted to see shore lines like are in the videos.
Hello Sandra, I'm sure your children are trying to protect you. Yes there are many lovely places in Cornwall. I believe the Lockers live somewhere near Falmouth. My son and his wife live in Falmouth so I drive there every few weeks. It's a beautiful town full of history. I'm sure you would love it. The pace of life seems slower there, the people are cheerful and friendly, there is virtually no crime. The terrible lawlessness and violence happening in your country at present has been copied in London. You will find nothing like that in Cornwall or Devon where I live. Best wishes , Stu McCabe.

I absolutely love going to Cornwall and I’m ngl I’m jotting down all these new places that I keep discovering from the lockers 😂 I’m absolutely jealous 😂
Spider crabs are alot of work . I've given up on them. They used to get very tangled in our nets and cause havoc with holes and knots.Sometimes there could be hundreds caught trying to rob the fish from the nets. To be bluntly honest I can't stand the sight of them but I suppose they are an important part of the food chain. Keep up the good work in educating people about our sea creatures ,they are all beautiful barr spider crabs.

We’ve had many a lovely holiday down in mullion. I was pregnant with our eldest the first time I ever went to Cornwall. Our son will be 20 this year and it feels like yesterday. I remember having a freshly caught lobster and crab platter in this lifeboat station turned into a seafood restaurant in Coverack on that holiday too. Beautiful part of the country. James Tonka has grown? What a stunning video. Your now taking us to parts of Cornwall I doubt a lot of us followers will never see. Visually stunning the only way to describe the scenery, and not done with that you take us underwater and we see an abundance of sea life including what I assume is a harbour seal. Fantastic stuff John, great to see what is going on under the water. We've got some incredible habitats around the UK but they're treated so poorly just because we very rarely get to see what is going on under the waves. Maybe an underwater fishing video at some point? Keep up the good work pal
when i was James's age my dad rented a caravan on Pevensey bay and bought a large crab , when he went to put the crab in the pot i got very upset , so much so he took my hand and grudgingly took the grateful chap and we watched him walk back into the sea . lol
I really enjoyed this video John i wasnt expecting you to go diving but it was really nice to see. Only if you had that dive weight belt you might of had that lobster. Oh i thought that seal was gonna see how you taste at one point . Just as it started turning towards you, I was like oh no. My wife wants me to go diving round the piers to see if i can find any crabs or lobsters but if i do il have to loose alot of weight and get my fitness back because it can be really dangerous. I told her that she will just have to wait until i find one in the rocks on low tide. Please do more of these types of videos.

- Theres a couple of different ways. So long as you get it in the vital areas crabs are pretty simple to despatch. 😉 Glad you enjoyed the video mate. We’ve been planning these for months, just been stuck with lockdown and bad conditions.
Throughout my life, my parents told me that the internal organs of the crabs were edible because it was "delicious", but I never had it, good thing I don't eat those... Thanks for the information, mate and thanks for the video! Would love to see more! Cheers!
- That is the thing, as time goes by things are learned and discovered. At one point in history people thought smoking was good for you. Now look at what we know. Those parts are delicious but not necessarily good for you. Cooking thoroughly will kill bacteria, but not any chemicals. Think also about what the crabs and lobsters eat. Dead and rotting marine life. So if for example that creature was diseased or poisoned - you are eating it. In my opinion its not worth the risk.

Hey John, I'm watching lots of videos from your channel latelly and I love them. However, I have a cool tip for you that I think will make your videos better: use the GoPro attached in your head, with those head straps. With that, you could use both of your hands and will make it easier for you to show us what you are doing! Love so much your videos, cheers from Brazil!
- That doesn’t make things any easier because if I want to show something specific I need to turn my whole head and put my face near to it. Instead of just pointing the camera.
the diving was awesome...views were great.....crazy adrenaline :P the inside is the good part though :( you dip the meat in it :P it is a delicacy XD just have to cook it and only rarely eat it like once every other month :P is this a protected area? it's like watching a museum guide are you allowed inside that shack? or at least close up outside shots? i have never seen a sandy beach with that many stones.....it has to be a protected area....

Brilliant John, diving for shellfish now, it's another string to your bow & very selective too, shame about the lobster & also about the fact you have to justify not giving any of the crab to young James because of all the complaining fruit loops out there!! You have set the bar so high with your videos, and without a 5,000,000 dollar research vessel. You videos are so well done and immensely more entertaining . And I don’t have to wait three months. Thanks for many hours of great entertainment and educational value. ❤️it👍. Time well spent!
- James, it truly is our pleasure. If our videos are helping or teaching people then they are worth making. I truly hope that they may provide some form of positive distraction to people during these difficult times. :)
Hey John.. Your videos are helping me get through this pandemic. You live in such a beautiful part of the world. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
- Billy, it is our pleasure. I truly hope that our videos can provide even a short positive distraction for people during these stressful times. Take care and stay safe. 😊👍🏻🦀

What a brilliant video, you are so lucky to have all that on your doorstep.
Outstanding vid mate
Love watching your videos as I will probably move to the UK from the Med and the only thing that concerned me was the sea but I think the North Sea looks fun for fishing
Absolutely amazing. I bet the Sea life would be brilliant under UV light.
Subscribed. Thanks for not being pretentious, and sharing and educating that which is obvious you’re passionate about. So many people but on an act trying to grab viewers attention every waking second, while you allow the surroundings to speak for themselves. Well done, look forward to more.
- Welcome to our channel Joel, I am very glad that you enjoy our channel for what it is. I hope that is what sets us apart from others who try to do what we do. We are not interested in clowning for views, we are simply sharing what we know and love doing. I hope you enjoy working your way through our content and if you have any questions just leave us a comment and I'll get back to you. 😊👍🏻🎣
Respect for you diving without a weight belt and getting all that awesome u/ water footage! Thank you👌
- I am glad that it worked out ok. 😊👍🏻🦀
Try making shallot butter for the crab meat. Dice 1-2 shallots and saute in melted butter until translucent, place in a ceramic container and chill until solid butter again. When ready to use for the crab, just melt it and pour over the crab. Eat and enjoy.
- Sounds quite nice actually. :)
- Haha. I felt a little that way when I was on the barrier reef. It is just incredible by shear size isn't it. The coastal waters here are equally incredible but for different reasons. I hope that our videos help you conquer your anxiety with the ocean. :D
Scareyaf:. If you're in the water at the GBR you'll never be afraid any ocean in your life. I almost disowned my son for that. He has never been back. IAM sure he wants my stuff when I kick the bucket!!!! Lol
Loved it! Have not been snorkeling or diving since the late '80s. So beautiful. Thanks. Glad Hannah and James could join you.
- Thank you Connie. It is stunning isn't it. I have said in previous videos that as soon as it is safe enough we would go back to cooking on the beach - lets hope things continue to improve so we can do more of these type of videos.😊
A mate recommended your channel last night. Its only approx 24 hours ago and I must have seen 6 or 7 episodes. Great work guys. And your a testament to the importance of son and dad time bonding time! Really good channel
- Thats awesome. Who is your mate? Tell him thank you from us Marc. I am glad that you're enjoying the content and welcome to our channel. If you think any more of your mates would enjoy the videos please share them on. Take care and best wishes to your family. 😊
We always appreciate a beautiful day with family You couldn't give James a better life or a more loving and nurturing mom than Hannah Thank you for sharing. Enjoy.

With out a shadow of doubt THE BEST FISHING CHANNEL on RUclips. Nothing brightens my day like logging on to YT and seeing a new video by the fish locker. Thank you so much for everything you do. Mike

THE MOST stunning underwater video I have EVER seen, the colours, the movement of all the plant life and the SEAL!!! This could be here in Australia, what an amazing place to see!!
- I am glad that you enjoyed our video. Stunning isn't it, and a lovely visit from a seal. :) If you think that any of your friends would enjoy the video, please share it on. Best wishes and have a lovely day. :)
@@TheFishLocker I'm always sending your videos to my Dad! He only lives around the corner but he is the one who instilled my love of fishing. I hope Hollywood doesn't get to see it though, because that's a Jane Austen film set if I ever saw one!

I can't express how much I enjoy your videos. Very educational and relaxing to watch.
Thank you very much Paul. I am glad that you are enjoying sharing in our passions. If this type of video is your thing then I have one going up tomorrow you should enjoy. 😉👍🏻

I never comment on videos because I don’t have much to say. But today and many times I’ve long to express the joy of seeing such a beautiful place. Thank you for showing us your lovely coast.
- Thank you Elena, and as this is your first time of commenting. Let me officially welcome you to our channel. It is our pleasure to share our videos with you. Best wishes and take care. 😊

Saturday morning, kids still in bed, coffee in hand watching this, totally chilled and inspired, set up for the day, loved the video, water clarity was great!! Had a few lobsters snorkelling this week but all undersized. All the best Pete
- Sounds like a great start to a day. I’ve been getting a lot of undersized lately. Great sign for the future. 😊👍🏻🦞
I don’t even know how I came across this channel bud but I’m really enjoying the content and haven’t stopped watching keep it up awesome work 👍
- Welcome to our channel Brian, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content and have a great day. 😊👍🏻🦀
If Spongebob has taught me anything, you can milk those jellyfish for fresh jelly to put on your toast :)
Edit; That seal sure seemed friendly, checkin' out the weird airbreathing creature.. Beautiful critters.
- I'm not saying Spongebob is wrong. But I don't quite feel confident enough to try that on toast just yet. :P
Nothing could be better than enjoying fresh caught crab on the beach with the family...aww man you rock!
- Thank you Jim. We are simply sharing what we love doing my friend. I am glad you enjoyed the video. 😊👍🏻🦀
Great video lovely family keep doing what your doing 👍
- Thanks Stevie. :)
- Dawn, it absolutely is our pleasure to share this with you. I am so very glad that you are able to join us. Best wishes and take care. 😊💙
Maybe i just have a very simple humor but the way the crabs reacted when he held them and when they were let go made me laugh out loud, it looked so funny to me
- They are pretty cool to look at aren't they. 😊
I spent many years skin diving and have seen some wonderful sites wish had a camera in those days - once I saw some bass nudging and playing with a sting Ray another time an electric Ray drifting slowly mid water in the shallows - this video does nudge some wonderful memories
- I am so very glad that we could share our video with you and bring back happy memories for you. 😊👍🏻💙🦀
Really enjoy your channel. Your knowledge of the sea and enthusiasm for teaching is the best I’ve come across. Keep em coming

Best non fishing video yet.Dive a place and then fish it🤔 video like that could break the internet👍

Yet another great video John!! Love the "new variety" with the free diving and stunning underwater landscapes, not to detract from the 2 great spiders!!!! Well done mate!!!
- Glad you enjoyed it mate. We have been planning this type of vid for month. Just not had the conditions or been on lockdown.

Oh my goodness. That was just amazing. I love the way that seal was checking you out. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing your morning and your family with me. I have only been out of the house twice in three months. We are still in partial quarantine here in Kentucky, USA. Still haven't had the nerve to get out. But your videos help so much.
- It is our pleasure Sandra, I understand that there are people who currently cannot enjoy the outdoors so I truly hope our videos can provide even a small positive distraction. Take care and have a lovely day. 😊👍🏻🦀
@@stumccabe oh my god tell me about it. My great auntie and uncle as well as some of my cousins live there. The rest of the 200+ of us (mostly immediate family as it adds up to 200 my great grandparents on my dads side alone had 10 children 😂 who’ve obviously gone on to have their own some almost having 7-8 children 😳) remain in either Ireland or Manchester. I absolutely love going to Cornwall and I’m ngl I’m jotting down all these new places that I keep discovering from the lockers 😂 I’m absolutely jealous 😂
Life is beautiful, when you can harvest sea food & spending time with your family.
Cheers !
- It truly is Richard. 😊
Spider crabs are alot of work . I've given up on them. They used to get very tangled in our nets and cause
havoc with holes and knots.Sometimes there could be hundreds caught trying to rob the fish from the nets.
To be bluntly honest I can't stand the sight of them but I suppose they are an important part of the food chain.
Keep up the good work in educating people about our sea creatures ,they are all beautiful barr spider crabs.
They can be frustrating can't they 🤣
My favorite Fish Locker episode so far. That shoreline and reef are so lovely. And the seal!! Very relaxing and lovely to see.
Patrice O'Grady I completely agree and hoping he does more loved that seal lol just popping by for noisy but water looked awesome and making me want to go but on lockdown so just keep watch john for now so educational

What an enjoyable video! Thank you for taking us along on an excursion I could never take. The seal!! The huge jellyfish!! The Tonka truck!! This video had it all! God bless you and your beautiful family!
It makes me really want to dive and forge. It may not be something we can just pick up and do but hey maybe one day the opportunity will present itself 😊

33:01 The fish locker man in his natural habitat lol 😂 that’s was so hilarious. I would be eating the same way! This was uploaded on my 32nd birthday, what a treat! I missed it because I was at the beach on this day however her in Connecticut we don’t have such beautiful water sadly 😞 but I get to enjoy a beautiful beach with your family! 💖
- Happy belated birthday to you Alyssa. I hope you had a wonderful day on the beach. 😊
The Fish Locker I did! Thank you!!! ☺️
My wife and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. We love that you take Mrs. Fish Locker and Junior Fish Locker with you sometimes. You need to get yourself a speargun to get some fish too. Don't know your laws but that would be proper! Keep up the excellent work! We love it!!
- I love to do these things with the whole family. I have considered a speargun a few times but we fish catch and release primarily and you cannot release a speared fish.haha.
Super video,, enjoyed the exploration with the snorkle and wetsuit,, watching the wonderful unseen world beneath. Brought back memories of our family doing the same on beach, great way to spend time together. Blessings of health, happiness, peace and love.
- Thank you Paula. Best wishes to you and your family and have a lovely day. 😊👍🏻🦀
John IMO that was one of the best videos I have seen on YT, Cornwall looks amazing as usual. The underwater filming was great, then the cooking process for the crab. And then the shot of a rare Tonka truck, thought they were extinct.

Such a good video, the wholesomeness never fails to come through in every upload. What would be great is if some commentary was added over the top of the diving sections, that would be the cherry on top I reckon.
- I have had some folks in the last day they preferred the simple sound of the water with no music or voiceovers.
I love the sounds as well, maybe just a little wording as to what the type of fish are like you do with the flowers?
Amanda Van - Noted. 😉
That is beautiful clear water. I would love to scuba dive that entire area... heaven on earth.
Another great video.
Really loved this!!!

I’m in London so seeing this is making me wish I was by the sea instead of shielding away from humankind. James is my smile maker and to see a Tonka in its natural habitat made me belly laugh 😆. Sending love to you all 🦀🦞
- Haha. I am glad that our video could bring you joy. A good laugh is wonderful medicine for the stresses in life. Cornwall is a stunning place and we will be doing more of these videos in the coming weeks. :D
Amazing video! You never fail to entertain and educate. Love the seal and jellyfish parts. Very nice haul 💪🏻 Smashing job John, Hannah and James

James Tonka has grown? What a stunning video. Your now taking us to parts of Cornwall I doubt a lot of us followers will never see. Visually stunning the only way to describe the scenery, and not done with that you take us underwater and we see an abundance of sea life including what I assume is a harbour seal. You then round things of with a catch & cook. Thank you for posting such a great video and sharing it with us.

Fantastic stuff John, great to see what is going on under the water. We've got some incredible habitats around the UK but they're treated so poorly just because we very rarely get to see what is going on under the waves. Maybe an underwater fishing video at some point? Keep up the good work pal
- Thank you Peter, hopefully through our videos we are able to encourage people to take more of an interest in the world beneath the waves. :D
when i was James's age my dad rented a caravan on Pevensey bay and bought a large crab , when he went to put the crab in the pot i got very upset , so much so he took my hand and grudgingly took the grateful chap and we watched him walk back into the sea . lol
- That is a good father right there. Even though we do take things for the table, it is our compassion that makes us who we are. 😊

Aww man that sounds amazing! Happy diving!!

John wow wow wow wow wow I’m actually lost for words that video was something else pal there is no end to your marine expertise simple stunning a whole different world under there not,a would be shi##ng it as soon as a clocked that seal!!!Seen a video where a guy knocked the front of the shell clean off by hitting it against a rock saying it kills the crab instantly not to sure tho but your way instant.Atb pal stay safe from Scotland
So spoilt with Fish Locker vids this week, this one was the best, finally got to see a spider crab cook. What a great start to the weekend.

Oh, nice then. Just thought about that. But keep doing your job, mate! Really appreciate your vids!
the diving was awesome...views were great.....crazy adrenaline :P
the inside is the good part though :( you dip the meat in it :P it is a delicacy XD just have to cook it and only rarely eat it like once every other month :P
is this a protected area? it's like watching a museum guide are you allowed inside that shack? or at least close up outside shots? i have never seen a sandy beach with that many stones.....it has to be a protected area....

Brilliant John, diving for shellfish now, it's another string to your bow & very selective too, shame about the lobster & also about the fact you have to justify not giving any of the crab to young James because of all the complaining fruit loops out there!! Your videos are diversifying nicely into an all round outdoors type channel, loving the content!! Stay safe pal!

Cheers John, will take you up on that offer when all this pandemic madness goes away!!
It might not be your style, but I'd love to see some spearfishing content! Keep it up, regardless!
- Hi Brady, I do enjoy showing but we prefer to catch and release as much as possible and you cannot really do that with a speargun. So we may just stick to shooting video. ;)
I enjoy these kind of videos they are very calming and educational 👍
- Thank you, it is our pleasure to share the with you. 😊👍🏻
You truly live in an amazing place. Swimming around a kelp forest filled with wildlife. And having a seal come say hello? Pretty great place.
- It is stunning isn't it. I do love where we live. I have learned through my life though that it is only when you take notice that you start to see. Many people would walk that same walk as I did and see nothing. Best wishes and thank you for watching. :D
Amazing shots, that Seal crept up! Water looks aquarium clean.
- They are so fast underwater aren’t they. Effortless movement through the water. She was just being curious thank fully. 😊👍🏻
I've been watching for a few weeks now and just love your channel. We've visited the U K several times now but never Cornwall, but we definitely will next time we come over for holiday. Your family is so beautiful and you are such a wonderful and patient father. Love your wife's cooking demos, learning lots. Thank you!
- Thank you Angela, I am very glad to hear you are enjoying our content. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. There are some truly stunning beautiful places in Cornwall. Best wishes and have a lovely day. 😊👍🏻🦀🦞
