I’ve bought a boat while i’ve been stuck in Azerbaijan at work. I only found your channel because I wanted to learn about putting an anchor down and have nearly binge watched all your episodes. Your an education, thanks.
That was better than most wildlife TV programmes. Many seem too keen on the exotic. That casual swimmy mooch through some 'local' caves and coves , all slathered in reality with loads happening, was a pleasure to watch . Time they offered you at least a pilot miniseries as a tester for market. That could have gone out on air with very little finessing . Took me back years to when my granddad and great'uncle Garb' would harvest from the rock-pools etc and cook stuff up in a metal bucket on a driftwood fire. Loved it as a kid back in the '60's . Proper bobby'dazzler of an 'episode' there.
I can't stop binging these videos. They take me back to when I was a boy living on the shore of New England. Its VERY similar, and I spent so much time gathering rock crabs and sandworms to go for blackfish and flounder. I miss those days and these shows are really dredging up wholesome memories.
Not many people know this I have been watching this guy for a few years and he's actually a record bass holder, and what a cracking fish it was. Like so he can make a video on it

Another outstanding half an hour of quality entertainment and education. The Dogfish v Bull Huss footage was amazing. Thank you Mr Fishlocker, you and your family continue to be an inspiration to many.
You think you have seen everything that John can offer until the next video comes out and what a video. My favourite was that flounder amazed you caught it. Nice to see so much life in just a two hour underwater session in particular the huss chewing on the cat shark. Don't think the pouting understand social distancing! Then the cook up on the beach, marvellous, educational and amusing. Thanks for posting.

Last week with the knowledge I have gained watching your video on foraging did my own on low tide at beesands on the rough ground, found many varieties of seaweed, gobies, prawns and a lovely male edible crab, unfortunately undersized and was returned unharmed to grow bigger. Went snorkelling and wish I could hold my breath as long as you😁. Great video and always something to learn, thank you 🌹

The Fish Locker, Could you please do another video of the plants in and around the ocean. I loved the last one. I found it so interesting and enjoyable to watch. Best wishes, Debbie
I love to watch your foraging activities and be educated on how much the sea and beaches are able to feed us hence the need to maintain the cleanliness of the sea and beaches. I lived the the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and got the opportunity to experienced foraging activities in New Zealand.
holy crap! I've just realized I've been to that beach about 15 years ago, when a friend invited me on holiday with him. the two of us walked all along those rocks and didn't even glance into the rock pools. now I wish i had.
- Can I ask a favour please. Remove the place name from that comment. You and I know where it is, but in order to protect the wonderful ecosystem from someone who may not be as conscientious as you or I it's best to keep locations off public forums. 😊
Putting the scientific name of the various creatures you encounter is really good but I must point out an error on your part. At 16.25 you show a lesser spotted dogfish and you have shown the Latin name as Scyliorhinus canicla. This is incorrect, the proper scientific name is Bait Robbing Bastardio - at least that's what we call them round out neck of the woods.
Thanks for another great video! These are therapy for me, here in the US! We need as much wholesomeness as we can get and you bring it in spades. The drone footage is great, I am so glad you picked one up! I was so impressed with you grabbing the fish by hand, I thought it was something you did frequently so it was funny to hear you wax on it when you got on shore! Always impressed, so inspired, I hope you can keep carrying on for a long time.
- That is wonderful to hear. I am glad that we may provide a positive distraction for people during these stressful times. Yes catching those fish is not a common thing. I’ve caught dogfish by hand before but sneaking up on the flounder was a new one. I find the key is calm. Fish can sense an attack by the way things move. So a calm approach and the right angle. 😉👍🏻🐟
Damn it brings back memories from the time I was coastal foraging lobsters and crabs with my father and also when I was snorkeling to found fishes and lobsters under the big rock caves! I really would like to go to the coast and to fish like that with you ! You are a good and clever fisherman and you respect the nature! It really should be a pleasure to fish and and these findings with you!!! Really good content, keep doing what you do!! :)
We were just saying how many Opihi were on the rocks there when you mentioned Opihi! Can be very difficult to get at in Hawaii. Sometimes dangerous in the huge waves hitting the rocks. You have a feast readily available! Awesome.

Hello ! I am from Florida and I can agree with you that their is NOTHING BETTER THEN LOBSTER AND BUTTER ON THE BEACH... Great video ending .....cheers!
Really pleased to see a foraging video again as you have a lot of knowledgeable information on species and plant life. Repeating what you see and find makes the difference because only then does it get saved in the old brain. So thank you and although I like the crab and lobster haul videos, these foraging videos are my favorite 👌. Keep up the good work and keep safe.
See all your uploads. Glad you found your pods... ghost fishing is the worst. Being that you make your own netting (which is soooo time consuming) it would been such a loss..
Eh up John a cracking video and what a lovely catch and cook. You really do live a life that many round the British Isles would envy, being able to swim in a beautiful area and catch and cook foods that in the normal run of life for city and towns folk, would set you back an arm and a leg. I don't feel envy because I get real joy through your presentation, knowledge and interaction with the family, yet also through your sheer passion for the subject you are showing us in a first class way....BRAVO! Take the most care and love to Hannah, Lizzie and Captain James X

Can't believe you caught a flounder by hand, love the dive videos. Great content as always.
- I know mate. I’m getting better at that stealthy swimming lark. 😉🤣
@@TheFishLocker We'll have you back in the Navy and joining the SBS soon!!
What a lovely location. I would love to live near there. I love nature and love sea creatures, plus exploring. So exciting. I could spend hrs doing this.
We love it too. 😊
This guy is so knowledgeable and his videos are just top class.
Thank you very much. I am simply sharing what I know and love doing in the hope that it helps others enjoy and become interested too. 😊
He has come on a long way if you have seen his Bass record interview.
This guy is so pleasant, very fun to watch!
Thank you very much, I am glad that you enjoyed joining me. Have a lovely day. 😊
Haven't been watching for long but I really love the way you're explaining everything in details, how to differentiate every kind of crabs and sealife and where to find everything.
I am glad that you are enjoying the videos. 😊
My mouth was literally watering the whole time you were eating that lobster. I haven’t had lobster in so long. I guess that’s what I get for being in a landlocked state. As always I enjoy your videos and I always look forward to the next.I hope that you and your family are doing well. God bless you all.
- Thank you Debbie, yes we are all doing well at the moment. "touch wood" Best wishes to you and your family and stay safe. 😊
- Thank you and welcome to our channel. 😊
What a lovely way to spend the morning......eating fresh lobster.....lovely !
- It’s the simple pleasures in life. 😊👍🏻🦞
The little crabs are so cute ^_^ You woke them up I bet they were annoyed having to get out of bed early haha, just trying to have a lie-in!!
I think they would have been happy to be on RUclips, so they wouldn't mind. 😉🦀
@@TheFishLocker of course. it's removed now.
Little male crab looked like he's been bench-pressing iron.
- Haha. Looked like Popeye didn’t he. 🤣🦀
Love watching this guy.
Would love to live near the coast and do what he does.
He really cares about nature👍
Thank you very much. I am simply sharing my passion for the natural world around me. Take care and have a great day mate.
- Haha. Doggius Twattius was the other option. 🤣
love the proper scientific name xxxxxx Debbie not David this is not an error I am a lady xxxxx
Lmao
That's a whacker of a Flounder..never seen one that big. Fantastic video. 👍🏻
- And caught you hand. 😉🐟👍🏻
What a channel mate ! Learning so much... All the best from Ireland ! 👍
- Thanks Micky. Take care mate. 😊👍🏻
Fish locker workshop subscribed ! 👍
This is a freaking free science class , love it.
Ordered myself a wetsuit and going to Portland next week 👍🏻
- Awesome. Good luck. 👍🏻😊
@@TheFishLocker Thanks, lets hope it fits 🐷😂
Portland, Oregon? You are gonna need a fire suit for that one!!!
@ryan_da_hunter thank God. Don't go to Oregon right now!!!
Hand catching the fluke is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Had some for lunch today.
- Crazy isn't it. I don't see that every day.
I find it nutty that he can just swim up and grab a fish
- Haha. It’s all the seafood I eat. They think I’m half fish. 🤣🐟🎣
Hii!!!! I’m from Hawaii and EVERYONE in my family eats Limpets (Opihi) it’s deliciousssss
- Haha. Thats awesome. Welcome to our channel and best wishes to your family :)
Made my day again! Stay safe and give my regards to Mrs and Junior!
- No worries mate. Take care bud. 😉👍🏻
Needed some calm before a contentious meeting in a few minutes.
- Keep calm. Nothing is so important it is worth stressing yourself over. 😊💙
Very enjoyable & informative!!!!! It was a beautiful morning indeed with glorious light & calm water
Thank you. 😊
the only dislike must be that lobster's relative
- Nah, jealous rival channel owners mate. 😉🤣
@@TheFishLocker - I do hope that you invited Ms. Jen to partake of your foraging efforts too? ;-)
@@TheFishLocker name and shame I reckon ;)
More than likely someone that wouldn't dream of killing anything. I like to eat so I don't know about them. I love this channel.
Dam that lobster has a big family 162 dislikes. 😂
Sounds like happy times. 😊🦞
I love you dude post more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- We post several quality videos a week. That is a lot of work you know. 😛
Ah, looks like you've got a drone in your box of tricks now too! Very nice.
- yes, I have been saving for a long time and finally taken the plunge. 😊
I gave it a like, but it really deserves one of these ❤️
- Aww, thank you Matt. 😊
The Fish Locker you’re welcome!
Always a fun and educational day foraging with you. Impressive that you caught so many fish bare handed? Thanks for sharing.
- Thanks Robyn. I’m glad you enjoyed joining me. 😊🐟🦞
What kind of strange world do you live in where you can just grab the fish right out of the water hahaha
- Haha. It’s because I’m half seal. 🤣
We were just saying how many Opihi were on the rocks there when you mentioned Opihi! Can be very difficult to get at in Hawaii. Sometimes dangerous in the huge waves hitting the rocks. You have a feast readily available! Awesome.
- Haha. Funny old world isn’t it. 😊
He caught more fish by hand than ive caught in a night 🤣
- Haha. They must like my aftershave. 😊
I loved the hand grab on that doofus flounder. So funny.
- Haha. I honestly didn’t expect to get it 🤣
The amount of comments he's replied to makes youtuber who says they reads comments a joke
- Every single proper comment that has ever been posted gets read and responded to. It is a commitment I made when we began our channel and one I intend to keep maintaining for as long as I am able. Especially during these stressful times when people are isolated. That little bit of interaction could really change a persons day for the better. 😊
@@TheFishLocker more people like you please
These videos are so great because not only do I enjoy the scenery and different animals, it's clear how much you enjoy it all! That kind of happiness is contagious. Thanks for sharing, and sorry for overwhelming you with comments lately!🦀
- Haha. Do not worry Rachel, thank you for taking the time to give feedback. I am glad that you are enjoying the videos. Have a wonderful day. 😊
That was beautiful viewing under the water. And yes the dog fish were following you around. Great video again 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Haha. They still follow me around when I'm on the boat. 🤣
Another great video John , big shout out to Joe for showing us the spot, hopefully I will go there next week
- Absolutely. I look forward to your video of the mark. I didn’t want to name drop incase it have the game away. 😉
Brilliant John what a sunrise awesome great underwater footage looked like you were swimming in a aquarium. And what a area with the caves and that tunnel you can imagine the rowing boats coming in at night with Brandy and silks and the revenue men hiding in wait awesome you all keep safe tight lines
- You so totally can can’t you. Proper smugglers paradise.
The best Friday treat, a wonderful dive, catching that flounder was amazing. You don’t need a boat!!
- I am so glad that you enjoyed it Kerry. I had a wonderful day and am really proud of this video. 😊💙🦞🐟
Wow amazing underwater footage and watching you on the shore with the cook up nom nom nom
- Thank you Martin. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. 😊👍🏻🦞
John always impressed with the knowledge that you pass on. Very jealous of that lovely Larry. It looked so tasty. Many thanks MM
- It is our pleasure to share what we know with you Mike. Best wishes and take care mate. 😊
Brilliant John and fun to see you take the doggy for a walk
- Haha. Can't get away from them doggies lately.
Hello ! I am from Florida and I can agree with you that their is NOTHING BETTER THEN LOBSTER AND BUTTER ON THE BEACH... Great video ending .....cheers!
- Simple pleasures in life isn't it. 😊💙🦞
- Thank you. I do enjoy these trips. This is one of my favourites for variety. 😊👍🏻🦞🐟🌿
See all your uploads. Glad you found your pods... ghost fishing is the worst. Being that you make your own netting (which is soooo time consuming) it would been such a loss..
You have an odd simplicity which I love! Keep doing what your doing!
- People have a habit of making life complicated. You do not need to. 😊
what a beautiful section of beach with that tide.. reminds me of some areas here... just gorgeous..
- Stunning isn't it 😊
Nice one mate under water filming is great you really show what the British sea life is all about thanks
- It really is fascinating when you properly look at it. You don't need to go abroad for stunning wildlife. 😊
Look whose getting all fancy with the drone. NICE SHOTS!
- Haha. Still learning mate.
Thanxs for sharing your venture.
I love to watch you forage and fish.
- It is our pleasure to share our passions with you with our videos. 😊
- Thank you Nick. James has just finished his first week of school. Take care my friend and stay safe. 😊👍🏻🦀🦞
Oh dear, I wipe a tear from my cheek as Fish Locker tucks into yet another lobster breakfast. Remind me someone, does jealous take one or two lls🙄🦞🦞🦞
- Haha. There’s a few other jealous folks as well by the looks of it. 6 dislikes in the first hour 🤣🤣🤣 Sad really isn’t it.
The Fish Locker ...John...as I reply I see 441 likes vs 11 dislikes. As I often say to my boss...let’s focus on the positive. There will always be a number of begrudgers and there isn’t an upside in worrying too much until they overtake the likes. Possibly people who don’t like seeing things killed. Keep up the good work. Educational and entertaining. Could you show us, collect and cook edible seaweed in a future episode?😉👍🦞
the thing that stands out with this cahannel is that it is honest and drove by the passion rather than the money , i hope this channel brings you everything you dream of and more you deserve it lad .
- Thank you very much. Truly I am glad that people see that. I hope that is what sets us apart from the others who try to do what we do. Repeating what they've heard others say and clowning for the views. Best wishes to you and your family and take care. 👍
You are a man after my own heart John. Not only do we share the same love of marine flora & fauna, my daughter Hannah does likewise. Whenever I visit her in Newquay we make straight for the rock pools & explore. Love it! 👍😘🍻
You two sound like good folks to me. 😬😉
We hope so & thank you. You should see us having a sword fight with our noses lol!! 😳🤭😂
I just love watching these when I need to relax. It's ALWAYS a good time with The Fish Locker on! Nice lobster there! This time, I said "Dulce" before you did, so I'm definitely learning! Thanks for being a great teacher!
- Haha. Amazing. I love that people are starting to recognise things in the videos. That shows that they have been worth making. 😊👍🏻
Nice toy that drone, now you can see the lobsters from above and indeed a beautiful morning you had.
- Haha. Yeah it is a nice toy isn't it. Just need to learn how to use it. 😊
I love your coastal foraging especialy when you go in6to detail about something or / and tell us a story to educate us. Id like to see more like this and obviously more lobster and crab potting videos with loads of lobster and crab facts. Thanks for listening.. kit
- Thank you Kit, I will do what I can. As for the lobster and crab potting - we are coming almost to the end of the season here. So we might get a couple more and thats it for 2020.
That seems like the best way to enjoy a sunrise 💕
I truly think it is Jess. 😊
