- With the incredible Cornish weather and superb water clarity my friends and I take a trip out for some diving/snorkeling. Incredible underwater creatures, seaweeds and delicious shellfish. Followed by a wonderful Fish Locker family cookup. 3 generations of family enjoying time together on the beach with a fresh Cornish seafood cookup on an open fire.

Please tell Mr. Jim that it was good to see him after the COVID break, and even though this wasn't Spargo's Kitchen, it sure looked tasty.
Have you ever tried contacting a company about underwater drones John? I think it could make for some pretty good footage/scouting and you're always out in interesting places so I'm sure they would sort you out with one for a few videos.
I suggest "QYSEA" over at media@qysea.com from the different drones I've seen but either way, I'd just love to see it.
I have been contacted by several but not yet seen anything that would make me want to agree a partnership or buy it myself.
@@TheFishLocker that's a shame, most of the videos I've seen have been more like "look, a pretty fish" which is nice and all but I think it'd be great with your knowledgeable voice over style like with your diving vids. Just in places you'd be less happy about diving or harder to dive (some of the drones can get to like 300ft deep)
You have to start a tour guiding service where you do this kind of thing with visitors. I would totally fly to England and pay for that 😉

John - As you were diving today to hand gather scallops and saw at least one lobster, what are the reasons for lobstering in your region if there are any for recreational gathering?

It wasn't so many years ago when it required a professional cameraman using a bulky film unit with a special housing to get anything at all underwater.
I live in Italy, in northern Tuscany. We say "fare la scarpetta" which basically means, "to do it with the little shoe." I really enjoyed your snorkeling video. Just amazing and beautiful what lives underwater. Happy to see that you and your family are thriving. God bless you all.

Oh heck! I can almost taste those scallops you are cooking! Thanks for these recent undewater clips and I am enjoying them immensely. What great vizibilty there at the moment too and it allows you show off the beauty of your Cornish waters. If more people had the love and understanding of their surrounding waters that you have, then the world would be a much better place.
Hopefully our videos may encourage more people to take an interest in the natural world around them. 😊

The clarity of the sea was amazing , as was your underwater footage. Once again my favourite was the few seconds of the little Leopard spotted goby , the colour gets me every time . Made my Sunday evening watching the video. !!!!

"scarpetta" is the Italian term you're thinking of - means "little shoe", because you drag a little hunk of bread through the leftover sauce like you're scuffing a shoe!

Fraggle Rock a show from my youth made me laugh a lot on weekend afternoons.
:( My Father and Jim Henson both sadly passed on the same day May 16, 1990.

Since you mentioned Fraggle Rock, let me explain something that you (and your viewers) may not know, and many viewers might be confused when you point to a lighthouse and say “It’s just like Fraggle Rock”
When Fraggle Rock was made, the company allowed the sequences involving the humans to be culturally different and filmed in different regions.
For example, in the Americas - we had “Doc and Sprocket”, and older man/inventor who worked in a small workshop with his dog.
In the UK, they swapped out those scenes for “The Captain and Sprocket”. This man was a retired sailor who lived in a lighthouse with his dog, Sprocket.
So, clearly FL was talking about the UK version here. Just to clarify for anyone who saw the Americas/other versions! =D

I moved from England to the US about 15 years ago. Unfortunately nowhere near the sea. Thank you for the awesome reminders of home. When allowed, I'll be popping back to visit my parents, and now I'm going to have to visit the coast while I'm there to relive memories!

I’m so envious of anyone who is able to drive an hour, two hours or less to get to the ocean. I live in Mesa, AZ so it’s hours for me to get to the ocean.
I feel your pain. I live 500-miles from the ocean. I would love to be able to forage along a beach every week for supper!

Trey - I used to be stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ, and helped PADI- train new Army lieutenants down in San Carlos, Mexico. For us, it was about a seven-hour drive and they had some decent motels along the beach area but that goes back to the early 80s. I don't know what's available now of course, since I live in Virginia, but it was just an idea for you to consider.
I have lived inland and in the city before and hated it. Coastal life is the way forward.

Its been a few weeks, enjoyed the underwater adventure of scallops, spider crabs and lobster find. Good to hear the population is healthy there. Very nice ending with a beach meal with friends and family.
