Britain, like Ireland, is an island nation. Its obvious the British and Irish governments are working closely behind the scenes to long term, extract Britain from Northern Ireland. Why? Because that's what London wants. End of. London would rather not pay the 10.5 Billion pounds block grant, every year, to keep Northern Ireland in the union and would much rather have a strong bi-lateral relationship with Dublin on other more important (and less security risk) issues - European veto's, trade, economic links etc.
