    Nice video! Im rebuilding vw '71 engine. First timer! Question: How do i test this oil pump to see if its operational as im trying to avoid buying new one if not needed. Thx

    it has been always recommended to loosen some of the bolts around the oil pump to release tension of course ,,now i dont know if after the job is done and those bolts are retightened if the case would leak ? i have not done that job yet , ? just wondering IF ? thanks for sharing

      Hi bug den, thanks for watching.
      In my experience, if the case has been opened before and some sort of RTV has been used to seal, chances are that it will not leak, but i would only do it if extremely necessary for there is always the risk of a leak. Abel

      a friend of mine who makes videos for vw;s called BUG ME VIDEO , tells me that the vw oil pump never goes bad it last a very long time as much as the motor would and told me not to bother with that job. thanks for sharing

      Exactly, those pumps can be reused in most cases as the quality is much better than the repro we have nowadays. Blueprinting it will improve even more and ensure a long service life.

    i see i left a comment 4 years ago , now we are in sept 8 2022 ,,,,now that parts are kinda drying up we are all stuck with EMPI ,,,,japaneese and chineese parts ? some are made in brazil ,,,will see how much longer we can play with these things ? god bless all have fun
