    Hey Professor! Cube & Cubamajigs owner here. If you really crease the flaps that fold into the lock you can eliminate the slight gap so they look snazzier. My only complaint with them is they're smudge magnets, but I suppose that can't be helped :)

    I've been wanting to make a cube for some time now, but I was daunted by the thought of how to store and organize such a monstrosity. These seem like a great product for recreating that draft feel. Thanks professor for your videos, and all you do. This has definitely helped me.

    Wow. Cubeamajigs seem incredible. I used to just open booster packs in such a way where I could recycle the packs, but that wouldn't let me store sleeved cards, nor let me "seal" them easily while maintaining resusability. Definitely getting some of these in the future. :D

    My cube (1/3 Uncommons 2/3 commons) is stored in a small BCW Box) It hasn't been updated since Khans came out though so there are some updates needed for it
    The basic land for it are stored seperately in an old Fatpack box.
    The only thing my cube is missing is friends to draft it.

    Just used them and they are beautiful. Quick tip: The rounding that occurs at the seal is minimized when the proliferated edges on the top and bottom of each pack (2 each four total) are folded with enough pressure to flatten the plastic. In fact, in most of my packs no bulging occurs.

    Thanks for this video! I really like the idea, and so I backed it on Kickstarter! I just got in sleeves for my peasant cube, and I am hoping to make a good stuff cube soon too. I like that it makes 25 packs which is enough for a full 8-person draft, with one pack left out. I can’t wait to plan out my next cube!!

    I use the KMC card barrier box 1000 you reviewed in a card storage box video a while back. It's absolutely perfect for a single sleeved 540 cube in particular. One of the 2 top sections is just the right size for about 35 of each basic land, and the other 4 sections fit the 540 cube perfectly; not too snug, not too loose. I also have another of this box for 6 commander decks along with 1 pauper deck in one of the small compartments, and tokens in the other. It's about as compact as you can possibly get too, while still being strong as bull

    I currently use Ultra Pro Team Bags for my cube. At $2.99 per 100, it’s not a bad deal. That being said, these Cubeamajigs are gorgeous and definitely a worthwhile investment.

  • @Brawler_1337

    I’ve been doing something like this for years, but with Ultra Pro Team Bags. I used to carry it in a Kakapopo case, but I’ve since switched to a similar case I found in a Goodwill that has a shoulder strap. Storage isn’t quite as neat and organized as it was with the old case (this case’s removable dividers aren’t optimized for card storage), but it gets the job done and is more comfortable to carry.

  • @bladesinger2002

    This is interesting to learn how you have done your set cubes. I have recently gotten to doing this as well, and the only difference that I have done is include 2 of each rare and 1 of each mythic. this creates the more accurate 12% chance of pulling a mythic that mimics your usual chances in a booster box. But love the video as I just learned about this product!

    I don't feel the argument of these making the process of creating booster packs easier holds up, as you'd have to shuffle and create the packs before putting them in the cubeamajig anyways. Regardless, this product is a cool way to emphasize the drafting experience, and I will be picking up some for my own cube.

    • @worldthroughabucket
      @worldthroughabucket 6 лет назад

      It is easier as you can have it prepared beforehand and don't need to shuffle everything before starting. Admittedly you could just shuffle up your cube before bringing it somewhere and just divide up the cards from the top, but usually it is customary for people to shuffle everything before dividing up the cards. So normally you would be shuffling twice in a lot of cases (once before the draft, once after). Here you shuffle once (after the draft) and then seal them up in the packs randomly.

    • @gilgamesh852
      @gilgamesh852 6 лет назад +9

      this makes no sense at all. Its much more work than just preshuffle and use dividers like everyone would do. Its just more timeconsuming to fuddle around with inserting and opening those packs.

    • @benjamincoyle5316
      @benjamincoyle5316 6 лет назад +1

      Andrew Sparkes Normal envelopes taper near the bottom and might warp your sleeved cards. Assuming you wanted to measure out and put together 18+ papercraft boxes, that could indeed be an option. Is your time and materials worth less than $1 a box plus shipping?

    • @LedPESRule
      @LedPESRule 6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I totally don't get it.
      Also, if you prepare them beforehand and use let's say half of the prepared packs for the draft, wouldn't you then need to also empty all the remaining packs to reshuffle everything to prepare for the next one?
      Idk, it seems like a complete waste of time to me. Even the design looks bad and impractical.

      @karl_boss 6 лет назад +2

  • @neverclever0
    @neverclever0 6 лет назад

    This is one of those ideas that is interesting, but not for everyone. Most people don't have the time or inclination to pre-make packs for their cube. And I personally use my cube for a lot of other drafting styles (mostly Winston, but I also like Grid or Solomon on occasion).
    The people who do want this sort of thing, however, have been looking a while. I've seen people on reddit use anything from ziploc baggies to manila envelopes. It's a small niche to fill, but it is there. And it's good to hear that the quality is there for those who do want them.

    Currently using a custom box from design craft industries. its been amazing. I like the Idea of these but wish they opened and closed through a different mechanism. they take up lots of space after opening. I think these are ideal for block cubes as you mentioned but part of the fun of regular cube is dealing out/swapping the packs! all part of the cube experience!

    Cubeamajigs hold:
    15 dragon shield cards,
    17 matte ultri-pro,
    20 non-matte,
    And 30 unsleeved cards.
    My advice if using for Jump Start is to either keep in their original pack (which defeats the purpose, or put in only non-matte sleeves.

    I wonder if you could use old audio cassette cases to do the same thing? Just snip off the two little "pillars" that are supposed to fixate the cassette in the case. Would also be less fiddly to deal with than these. You can clearly see Prof struggling to get the cards out of the pack when he opens it, and in a cassette case, the cards would come out with the lid when you open it.

    If your making a cube, you are bound to be buying sleeves to protect your cards. I just re-use the sticky clear packs that the sleeves come in to recreate the pack opening experience. Maybe a touch big for only 15 cards but not really a big deal since its something you will have around anyway.

    I am making a new format that is made to be quick + like 10 minutes there are 2 players each gets a special booster ( like the cubamagig thing ) they will have 5 lands 5 creatures and 5 other cards to heal then the players will pick randomly one pack and open it and will put 8 away and then will play normally getting a new card each round milling is an amazing idea but most of the cards are made to do damage ( the players will have 10 health )

    These seem pretty neat but I’m confused as to how they save time. You still have to divide the cards by fifteens either way.

    • @ArmadilloAl
      @ArmadilloAl 6 лет назад +8

      True, but this way you can divide into fifteens at home as opposed to dealing them out while everyone's already sitting around waiting to start. You're not saving any of your time, but the rest of your cube mates will probably appreciate it.
      Any rate, the biggest benefit I see here isn't time, but with helping everyone keep the face-down piles of cards straight. There's so many cards lying around during a cube draft that it's easy to accidentally grab the wrong pile at some point. With these, you don't have to worry about someone accidentally picking up, say, their pack three instead of the pack that's just been passed to them.

    • @joe-hd3uv
      @joe-hd3uv 6 лет назад +6

      He's assuming that you do not have packs for your cube already. This way, you can put the cards in packs before you go to cube instead of arranging everything once your playgroup is already there. You're right, you aren't saving time overall, just saving time once your playgroup is there. Of course, most of us with cubes already have some makeshift container that houses the packs already (mine being team bags).

    • @Pringlesman
      @Pringlesman 6 лет назад +7

      It's a bigger deal in cubes where you are keeping a Common/Uncommon/Rare distribution. With those it might be easy to sort out your cube at home, but doing it at your LGS is awkward.

    Great Review as always, though I didn't really understand why this didn't get an A? Just because of the flaps? I'd love to see your Innistrad Cube and more videos about Cube in general!

    I took up woodworking as a hobby so I could design a box to house my cube along with the lands, tokens and dice for a self contained cube experience.

    I wonder if you could reuse the art of opened booster packs to decorate your cubamajigs if you have a set or block cube?

    Is there a better way to maintain a Jumpstart battle box than with clear cubeamajigs? If yall got any other ideas I'm happy to hear them...
    Now I just have to figure out the ideal container for 46 cubeamajigs...

    Would be nice to know how many of these fit in the various product. From a standard BCW white box to the Ultimate Guard Archive and the SupremeOneRow. I own a Supreme Game Chest and I want to fit 24 of these in the bottom compartment and keep my basics/tokens in the top compartment.

    Use those boxpacks that they used for MM15.... They work pretty well for repacks

    I package my sleeved cube cards in resealable sandwich bags. I can get 50 of these buggers for $1.50 plus tax, and they last forever. Even if they break, replacing them isn't an expensive issue. Then, I store my packs in a .50 caliber ammo crate which I got at a local surplus store for $20.
    These ammo crates store the whole packaged cube and enough sleeved lands for eight people. Highly water resistant and immensely sturdy. They can also store eight sleeved edh decks with enough room for a playmat and several containers of dice. Only downside is that they can get hefty when full, but a little exercise never hurt anyone, right?

    I played a draft game before and the shuffling was just annoying luckily there was only 4 people playing and not more as then the set up shuffling takes a bit more time before the drafting and playing can start

    I bought these cubamajigs and the Card Kingdom starter cube off your recommendation. They only thing that bums me out is the cubeamagigs take up way way more space. Currently I use the ultimate guard archive deck box (also per your recommendation) and the 360 cards and 35 of each basic lands single sleeved fits perfectly. But the 24 cubamagigs with 15 cards doesn’t even fit with no basic lands. It fits 23 with the flaps folded in for even more space 😒. I can make them fit another way that stretches the box but that’s not ok for me. I’m gonna play around with putting more cards in each pack but I feel like that defeats the purpose of the packs at all. I may just end up not using the cubeamagigs.
