Hardest working man in the biz. I ran sound for dt and couple of his other projects (SSIK, GMC) over years in the 90s at the Backroom and we both worked for Dino Lee (Mr. Fabulous) for awhile. He was roadie and drove the van and I twisted the knobs. Fun times. Honestly, the most together, humble, driven, and groovy guy with an flappable passion for music and performing. 🤘

Hi Jason, I just wanted to thank you for all of the interviews that you have done. I discovered glam metal about eight months ago and I've been learning about the different bands, from back in the 1980s. I wasn't around then, so it's really interesting to watch these interviews, because it gives me some perspective as to what these bands were like. I especially enjoyed the interview that you did with Stephen Percy, Ted Poley, and Nicole Couch. Keep up the amazing work! 🎸

During the "Drum Solo" I went to bar to get a beer and asked Vivian Cambell "what are you doing here? I asked him to play and when he did he wore our my guitar. wow, loved this interview... I spent months plugged into my sonywalkman (with auto-reverse bitches!!) wearing out Sonic Temple and Dangerous Toys smoking & drinking and playing Zelda Dentures of Link and completely lost in the music...... I'm an old man now but will never forget how those albums made me feel and how much they influence my emotions when I'm playing guitar..... Epic albums, both. Epic bands. Thank you JG and JMcM and Co.
Also, I asked a few people about the HA album and not a one said anything sounded peculiar which to this day boggles my mind because it is soooo obvious, it sounded exactly like JMcM said "a little hot", or something I dunno... I bought it two more times cuz I thought maybe I had a jacked up copy but no, it was intentional.

Can't wait for this Jason G :) ...given how long Jason M's list of bands and catalogue goes, I'm wondering if this will end up being a multiple chapter story. Still holding on to an original Dangerous Toys Clown (front)/"Sportin' A Woody'(back) concert tee from 1989 - maybe worn a couple of times. Was too young to go to the show but managed to snag one in my local resale rock shop - that existed at the time. The front art on the shirt was so well done, I could never fathom washing it so hardly ever got worn. May have to pull it out from its frame and throw it on for this interview.

Frankie Muriel (vocalist) is still active with a different project, and does still play Kingofthehill songs every now and then. Nice bit on Michael Hannon as well. I saw him a number of times with his act, American Dog when they prowled the scene in Columbus, OH in the 2000's. You see him pop up every now and then. I introduced that cassette to a lot of my friends and they loved it so here’s me I find you guys played your music to all my friends and they loved it and now they want me to draw that clown on every fucking thing, some got tattoos on their arms I did poster boards in colored pencils of that clown still to this day. People ask me about Dangerous Toys clown, and I’m just a fan that found you in a Pic-N- Save store. Jason McMaster, what a cool guy. I saw them play in Orlando with Junkyard my buddy and I went to go see them and I’ll never forget. Dangerous Toys signing to Columbia Records is a very unique situation. What a story that was!
I saw them 3x (twice as a club headliner & once with The Cult) on that first tour and they were awesome every time, then the 2nd album came out and for whatever reason they weren't booked into my city, the 2nd album bombed bad and that is probably why touring was cut short for it.
I am glad he talks about my home town heroes Broken Toyz (KingoftheHill) and Jason is right, that band was bad-ass. KOTH should have been huge.

All of their tour support was dumped into Operation Rock and Roll. That tour did very poor business and was drastically cut short. Tours are scheduled six months or more in advance, so all of bands went home early and had nothing really lined up. Sad, really.

It was truly great songs in a good, band Dangerous Toys they made a great album or two, this world would metapmorph through time in garbage electronic music to rave party's here & their, it was annoying for a while
till it had its 15 minutes of fame, it never lasted but noir HEAVY METAL is still kicking! to this day, Amen!

McMaster seems like three people (to me):
1 - The monster singer - whose stage-persona is as fiery as his mane.
2 - The intelligent conversationalist - who keeps you glued to every syllable.
3 - The goofy friend - who you want to listen to records with.
For any who weren't around in 1989: "Head-bangers' Ball"-fanatics used to stay up late - to watch these groups premiere. (Adam Curry (with his bad mullet-hair) - was host.) // "Dangerous Toys" was one of those "made for 'M.t.v.'"-bands - that epitomized what we were - for that era: sleazy rockers - boning pump-&-dump bitches. (We'd mock 'Slaughter' - singing "Hump all night; stink all day"!) // Hanging-out at the beach (after blowing our savings at the mall - buying these cassettes), and smoking weed - off of dented soda-cans. (Jason M.'s stories bring it all back: laughs & tears - dude!)
    A D.T. boxed-set (picture-vinyls) would be rad.
    ----
To Jason G.: I thank you - for giving us these great inter-views. (They're addicting!) // One group I never hear mentioned - is 'Rock-City Angels', who broke through - in 1988. // 'Geffen' didn't put enough promotion behind them - opting to focus on 'Guns 'n' Roses', and 'R.C.A.' (gradually) fell out of public memory. // Their song "Mary" was co-written with Johnny Depp, who dropped guitar-playing - in favor of acting. (He'd just met Nicholas Cage - whose uncle was Francis Coppola; so...boom - career!) // Bobby Durango (sadly) has passed, but other alumni might be pleased to be contacted and remembered.
Here's their "Young Man's 'Blues'" - which I (highly) recommend:

I always thought / wondered if the name was taken from the Watchtower song "Dangerous Toy" very ironic they come out the same year 89? 🤔 In any case loved DT since the debut. I liked it as much as GNR nasty dirty raunchy rock a genre classic from cover to the tracks. McMaster has so much raw swagger on those albums

I'm pretty sure it did. If memory serves, that song was written when Jason was still in the band.

Damn, wanted to hear more about the "Artist" album. That is a strange album and the song "Transmission" is trippy.

“Darrell Was Always A Guitar Legend In Texas” - Jason McMaster
The first record is called Metal Magic and the second record has the song HEAVY METAL RULES. The songs I Am The Night and Valhalla are 180 bpm Fuckin Metal and the first record with Phil is called POWER METAL. TYVM for Not referring to the older Pantera as glam and associating yourself with lazy media regurgitating status quo. Peace
