@@TacomaDad I need yo have your mentality, I plan on keeping my truck my entire life or until it breaks. But in still hesitant to cut or removed certain components. I feel like it "will lose value" but I should care like you said if it works for me shouldn't be concern about it! Thanks for the content! Subscribed
I do as well. I’m just trying to see what stage I want to keep it in for many years lol I don’t think Toyota’s ever lose value, that’s the best part! I appreciate that!
Thank you. I wanna try that route and see if it will hold and not to cut my firewall. 37 is a heavy tire, and things will start breaking, especially the front end.
Looks like I have the same suspension in the front as you. Is that the Bilstien 6112s? What notch do you have them set to and what els did you do to help get enough lift? I’m thinking of adding a block on top of min to get and extra inch and a half of lift. Any advice would be appreciated. Also do you have an Instagram?
Thanks! To be completely honest, this was my first ever metal project so anyone can do it if you’ve got time and patience. And of course all the tools lol
Oh of course, but I’d rather my axles break than anything else. Easier to swap. Yeah gearing will help, 100%. But my plan for sas, I’m not gonna spend all the money to regear then have to sell it all cause I’ll be changing it. Truck doesn’t do much other than sit in the garage or go wheeling. It’s not a daily
Big tires (more grip) + lift (higher cv angle) + no sway bar (more flex/wheel drop) = cv breaking time, trust me I broke mine this week with a similar setup. Should I try a diff drop?
It’s the game we play lol I’m ready to start the sas and not have to worry about cvs anymore. I would stay away from a diff drop. The only thing I can say is less skinny pedal lol. I’m teaching myself that too
@@TacomaDad Wouldn't a SAS limit your clearance as much as if not even more than the front diff drop? Is there another reason you are against a diff drop?
Sas is a whole different thing. Don’t have to worry about weak cv axles, truss makes it stronger and instead of the ifs dropping too low and creating a bind with the cv. Myself and a few others are just against diff drops. It lowers it down where it then becomes an area to hang up, and that’s not one I’d want to be hung up on. Heard of more damage with a diff drop once it is done as well. It also does mess up the geometry of the cv. I’m at like 2.5” lift and my cv angle is still really good. My cv snap because of all the rotational mass with a 37” tire. I knew that going into it though.
two questions. Do you think I would have to touch the firewall if I had a 6 inch lift with 37x12.5? And do you think regear is necessary for someone who would rarely go off-road
I think on a 6” you would just have the normal cmc trim and flare trim. Regearing is definitely necessary to keep the truck like normal. I have no problems with mine, but I don’t drive it everyday and I’ve got ov tune. So that helps but I will do gears on my new sas setup. I just didn’t want to throw a bunch of money at gears when I knew I was going to do a sas when I got the truck
Buy a welder and sledge, and be willing to go to town on your wells. And whenever you find a video of a guy showing off his 37s, check his page to see an update to running 37s to get an honest opinion. Everyone is excited to show them in the driveway, but quickly realize how ill-equipped these trucks are to run them off-road.
True but also I love the 37s... flexed out, in a bind, sideways, etc. they work. There’s no bs on my channel. I don’t tell people what to run or brag, I tell them what I run and show it.
@@TacomaDad "flexed out, in a bind, sideways, etc. they work" Are you trying to say that under articulation and stock control arms that 37's have the ability to steer?
I’m saying I don’t have anything to complain about. Does it steer when articulating? Yes. Maybe not to the “full” or best but it’s also got a lot to do with the stock steering rack. We all know that it sucks. Is there a better way? Sure. I never said go out and run stock control arms with 37s, I said watch me do it. Do you run 37s? Do you hit hard lines with those 37s? Not fire roads either. The boulders, washouts, technical climbs... if so, please tag me.
Well that would require doing the rear as well. If I do a one ton swap I’ll be using axles from that specific year range. As for just a front sas I’m still looking for something within the width of rear axle
Lots. I got my use outta the 8lb sledge lol. I cut into the firewall about an inch towards frame and about 2 1/2” towards the fender. I’m sure I still have more to trim but won’t not until I take it out this weekend. I assume I’ll still rub on the upper- inner fender well but I beat it in a bit too
Probably not moving the battery, from what I can tell there is enough room (couple inches) to cut out the squared off section that looks to rub and have seen others do it, to angle it off and keep everything besides a few relays in the same spot. I haaate metal work but it’s not too bad. When I get back this weekend I’ll see where I need to cut out and get it done.
You still thinking straight axle swap or going with the Marlin IFS set up? I'm really thinking to go with the Crawler tacobox and while I'm at it, I'll probably order their IFS system. It just keeps more of the real Taco feel I think lol.
That bed is so sick
Thanks!
This thing is facking dope!!!
Thanks! And thanks for watching 👊🤘🏻
@@TacomaDad I admire your guts and glory to cut/modify into your truck the results are 👏 but takes guts!
At the end of the day it’s just a bunch of sheet metal and plastic. I want it to work for me! Lol

Do you run wheel spacers, and if you do what size and what brand. Thank you.
Oh definitely. It would rub the UCA if not. They are 1.5” ones but not sure of the brand. I got them from a buddy.

Love it!! I’m on 35’s now. Always looking for ways to go bigger. Great job.
Awesome! 35s we’re fun no doubt. Since this, getting a new set of 37s have been great off road! Thanks for watching 🤘🏻

Yes, 6112s on top notch. I ran spacers for a while before I knew any better and they are not worth it.
I do, Tacomadad18 on IG
THIS is a proper truck. Raw af. Badass dude!
Thanks my dude! Say will say it’s photoshopped
So great you are running an SR5 with mods, showing everyone you don’t need an off-road taco to have fun!
Much cheaper option, to build it your way!

who makes this bed?
I actually made the bed. I’ve got a video on my channel showing more of it

It’s only a few more inches! Do it!!

I built the bed, there’s a video on it from a few months ago

37s with stock suspension! That's awesome that you were able to pull this off! The truck looks great!
Kinda stock suspension lol. But yeah, we’ll find out how it works when I go wheeling with this setup!
@@TacomaDad lol yeah, looking forward to see how it does offroad
I’ll do some trimming first but if does well find out in about two weeks!
lmao how's your tread
On the ground, somewhere 🤷♀️
Test fit with these. Been on new tires for a bit.
any concern about the small axles with the larger tires? would regearing help move the extra weight of the tires?

If you put in that tacobox would you still need to regear? I was thinking of regearing my 2017 but also like this tacobox?
Technically yes. Gears are still needed even in stock form.
I’ll do gears once I do the sas
Thank you for the video, looking to upgrade to 37”tires and wheel 17”x9 i would say same tire size and wheel size on my tacopro.
