- Whilst in Melbourne, I meet up with Dean, who 22 years ago, bought Ayrton Senna's personal Mercedes 190E. The story of the car and it's significance to Senna is an amazing one.

As an huge Ayrton Senna fan, this brings back memories for me. I thank you Dean for looking after his car all these years. And thank you Sam, for bringing Dean's story to us. #SennaSempre #DriveTheWorld
One of the best f1 driver !!!
Now that is a brilliant story.
And the 190E i has always been one of my favourite cars from the 80s.
Great video as always.
For those asking, the clips of Senna driving a 190E are from an old promotional video. As far as I know, he did own the car used in those old clips. Dean's car was owned by Senna whilst he was based in the UK driving for Toleman and Lotus. You can see his name on the invoice during the vid :)
Seen Through Glass yea Sam and I wish I had known in those days , as I live about 15 miles from the Audi dealer in Gloucester back then. To have seen it would have been amazing
I was going to comment stating that the one in Senna vid was left hand drive and one you are in was right lol.
6:37 for anyone interested
Drive the World is honestly amazing! This is such unique and interesting content
Amazing bloke with a incredible piece of history.
Dude your content is unbeatable.
O man, i really enjoyed this one. Love your videos, thank u so much 💪🏿💪🏿 keep up.
That number plate is a serious flex...
My grandad use to own a red 190E for over 20 years, it was his dream car but he sold it because the rust was eating it. It was my dream since a was a kid to drive it and 20 years later I finally drove it before he sold it. :)
What A Dream Of Owning One Of Aryton Senna's Ride! Dean Is One Lucky Chap!!!

Amazing story! My father is actually doing a nut and bolt restoration on a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E race car... The car was actually the runner up in the 86’ DTM Championship!
Superb Video and information Sam :-)
The 190 Merc was always a fav of mine,
Especially the Cosworth collaboration they did with this car :-)
And for this guy to be lucky enough to own the car that Airton Senna drove must be amazing :-)
Thank you so much for getting together with this gent and bringing us this this video and story :-)
Keep up the great content,
And have fun with your trip :-)
All the best,
Mark.
Ayrton*
Great video Sam! Love stories about one of the (if not the) best formula one racing drivers. Plus love the Mercedes brand as a whole. Gotta love the Brighton Bath Boxes backdrop aswell.
Great car and nice vibes
What a car. Thanks for much for sharing this story Sam, fantastic video as per!
What’s a great video!! I’m loving all these local car guys and their stories we get to hear about into your videos. Keep up the amazing work!!
Just an awesome car story! Love Senna and the videos from Drive The World. Each one is just special and something new. Great work Sam!
Amazing story! Thank you for producing such brilliant content. Looking forward to upcoming videos.
loving all these content about people and their love for cars from the other-side of the globe.
Superb video Sam! One of the best yet. Incredible story, what a car!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this with us, Sam. Incredible story and the car is still beautiful.
Lovely video Sam. One of the nicest videos you've ever made. Love the history of a particular cars life and owner as much as just how it drives.
Totally love this vid, Sam. Thank you.
Absolutly loved the video! This is content i would not get anywhere else! Loved the story, owning a 320CE C124 from 1992 - but had no idea about this story before!
The owner seems like a great guy! Solid video, interesting story.
Great story and video, well done.
Love stories like this and am loving the DTW content. Great vids Sam! Hope all is going well
Wow, I’ve known about this car for years as the chap who owned it was a friend of my dads in Malmesbury. The 76 year old architect referred to in the video is still going strong and he really did use this car most days. I saw it being driven around the town all the time! Didn’t realise it went to Australia though! Great video & great find Sam!
Sam I'm listening to this while and work - very informative and well delivered - what a nice piece of history!
Great story & well looked car. Thumbs up.
This guys a hero!
Excellent video Sam....what a lucky man
That's some quality story telling Sam, good job!
Great vídeo and story! I own a 190E, its an amazing car, super confortable but at the same time so engaging! Unfortunaty I live near the sea, so the rust its starting to appear in some parts...
Great story & vid
What a story. :) love this car
great video sam, really love it!!
As a Brazilian and a big Ayrton's fan I simply loved this video 😊 He made the Sundays really special back in the day
Beautiful story and amazing car!
Great story! Dean seems like a decent chap / humble chap! Cool
great story, every episode is better than the last one, good job Sam
What an amazing story. I mean come on Ayrton Senna's Car. That's so special. Driven and enjoyed. Just how he would of liked it. Hats off. Great vid and thanks for sharing
Driven one back in the day. Cool car! Great story too! The fact that Senna won that particular race, and the things he did unbeknownst to the public, made him a legend that will never die. Still remember his last day like it was yesterday.
I´m just gonna say it. Senna was the greatest racing driver that ever lived.
@Seen Through Glass Loving the videos of the trip and this one doesn't disappoint! Also thought you should know, this video does not show in the uploads page of your Channel for some reason.. Keep enjoying yourselves and keep up the awesome content!
Great content and story Sam.
Amazing story and an immense car with massive heritage!
Didn’t know this storry. Interesting! Always loved the Merc 190 and I was a big fan of Senna when I was a kid. Again top content on this channel! 👌
Music Choice is EXCELLENT 👌🏻
Loving the recent content! Australia is making some awesome video opportunities.
Absolutely Beautiful car! Ive just turned 18 and Ive been driving a Flagship blue 190E 2.0 for 7 months as my first car. An incredible machine that I will always have a space in my heart (and hopefully my garage one day) for
What a great history! So beautiful
Great story and find sam
awesome edit at the start
Love this story!!!
One of my earliest memories of TV is the Senna crash. Its strangely vivid in my mind. One hell of a weekend in F1. Ut great the history of Ayrton is being preserved and shared.
The guy my father shared an office with years and years ago had a Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 that he imported from Germany, I didn't realize at the time how special that car was, he would always fawn over that car and in my head I was always like it's just a 190E.
What a great story - had not heard about it!
Excellent vlog sam ..
Amazing dude!!
That's an amazing provenance! I do still love the 190e, and I'd love to have one again, but they're rare as hens teeth where I live
Amazing car especially with that history. I always liked the styling of these models and they do still look pretty good. I did get the chance to drive a 190E Sport one time years ago, done a bit of aquaplaning that was fun lol, I did really enjoy driving it.
Great story!
Shout-out from Brazil ! 🇧🇷
Sam I had one of those wonderful cars when I lived in Germany back in the 80s and 90s for 13 years! My other fave that I had during those times was a BMW 323i tuned by Zender! What a car that was!
I swear you're dead but ok
@MJ: That alias of yours must be from the early days of YT, right? Anyway, cool alias :)
Yes, what an alias right!? Lol......loved his music so.....
@@michae8jackson378 Yes Sir!!!! :) Been a fan since 1988.... Still a fan, will never forget him or "put him aside" for another singer.... However, I don't listen as much to his albums, I've discovered some great music from the 60's and 70's ... but MJ will always be in my heart with a tattoo on my right arm.
PS: My alias in a combination of MJ and F1 driver Fernando Alanso, hence, mikealanzo.
mikealanzo nice....I love that! I’m a Schumi fan....I was in Germany during his HeyDay!
Always loved the 190E Cossie, definitely a classic Merc I'd love to own one day!
Great video, so weird seeing you drive around the streets I live around...
Was a bit skeptical when I saw that it was RHD, cos I thought Senna lived in Monaco and Brazil
But when they showed the invoice, oh wow. It is the real deal. Not the same car that he raced in Nurburgring. But the same model, but RHD cos he lived in UK then, having been driving for Lotus. Nice owner and great video Sam.
I drive that road 3 times a day. Weird seeing Sam go up and down there. Great vid
I was in a cafe in the Algarve in Portugal watching the Senna race when he crashed, being Brazilian he was a bit Portuguese and the cafe went very quiet and then it was incredulity all around, nobody could believe he was actually dead. I will never forget that day.
Much more enjoyable than watching Doug's review on this legendary car. I had one with only 46,000 miles on it.
you could have included Brazil on your schedule.... great video!
This is epic. My granddad's best friend used to own Sennas estate version of this. He had no idea what he had and drove it into the ground. We only found out who the original owner was after it had been scrapped.
Great video - this video isn't on your channels listed videos by the way!
I actually learned to drive in one of those. Brings back a few memories.
He'll yeah! 2 days in a row
Hey mate. Love the video! May I ask which brand and model your glasses are ? They look great and I was thinking of getting a pair in that style :)
I was born in Monaco, back when Senna was still alive and living there. My dad bought one of these because he used to see Ayrton Senna drive around in one and we used to take it skiing.
I am 16v Enthusiast from Germany. As I know and have photographs Senna´s personal 190E 2.3 16 was not smoke silver but black metallic 2.3-16. I have photo with him when he picked up the car from Dealer´s saloon with export license plates for exporting to Brazil. Smoke silver Senna 2.3 16 with which he won Race of Champions at Nurburgring was never for sale and kept to this day at Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, Germany even if there are 10s of replicas around the world.
Great story, lucky guy.
I saw a video on Carfection that is like 7 years old about the race Ayrton won such a nice car.
Nice car. Nice watch
Another watch guy here. I was trying to see which Rolex it was. Looks like a Submariner with the cyclops date.👍🏼
Love a car with a great story.
That was a great story
The Mercedes 190 is no doubt one of the best and most important Mercs in history... It is also a real Mercedes that was built to last forever
What a cool guy!
So cool
MAD!!!
That first carpark you were in is my weed smoking spot haha. Best view of city, epic sunsets and 200m from my house. Crazy how local you were, enjoy dude!
I see you on VinWiki, and I also saw this video. I can't believe I didn't put two and two together until now.
So cool!
I love the 190 e with a passion
Me too. Rog.
I'm brazillian and was looking to buy a 190e w201. I think that is a sign...
Amazing
This car is now priceless.
I am so jealous!!
Dude! You need to check out the Bend Motorsport Park, in Tailem Bend, South Australia.
Great car!
the Black Rock Clock .I live up the road ..how did you cope with the 44 degree heat today ..
My absolute favourite car ever! Like straight out mob style!
Love it
