    I’m so happy to read the comments and everyone just keeps asking why lol thank you I thought I was the only one. Coming from Animus Medtronic has really disappointed me.

    Why?? The old saying “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” comes to mind, the current Mio “ain’t broke”.

    So, does this new site last longer? Assuming it doesn't this simply takes more space when carrying, has more waste, and more steps. But at least it looks different. Congrats! You are now forcing me to use a worse product. I hope it saves you money. Hopefully your product works better than your customer service or automated delivery.

    This seems counterintuitive and wasteful. More steps and more waste? Hmmm I wonder what inspired this design

    Just started these today and and I love them! They are smaller than what I thought too. It's more error proof to me because my first few infusion sets of the older design I screwed up. I don't like wasting these. Brilliant design in my humble opinion but I feel bad for others who are upset. Diabetes is stessful and any little change to a routine you mastered can be upsetting. But I'm loving these so far!

    This seems SO difficult, to me at least; whereas my mio is very easy to insert. Why add extra steps?? Hopefully, it will become secund nature... and QUICKLY. Things are usually easier when carrying out a task than when watching or reading the steps. However, I'm 47-- getting TOO OLD for these types of changes!😅

  • @martinissexy93

    Highly disappointed that the original Mic sites are being discontinued. I liked the original because of everything being one piece. All these extra parts seem wasteful and make unneeded extra steps. With all the problems I have had with the Guardian sensor and now this, I will be looking into T-slim or omnipod with a dexcom sensor.

      I'm sorry you're disappointed, Charlotte. We have updated our infusion set offering with the new MiniMed Mio Advance infusion set. Because of this, we are phasing out the MiniMed Mio infusion set. As of February 1, 2021, you will no longer be able to order the MiniMed Mio infusion set. This is similar to the set that you’re already comfortable with several big improvements making changing infusion sets simpler, faster and more convenient. There are several new features including:
      Insertion in four easy steps
      Hidden insertion needle before, during and after insertion
      One-handed insertion - making it easier to insert in harder to reach areas (e.g. back of the arm)

      @@MedtronicDiabetesUS This isn't easier. Perhaps you guys should've surveyed the people that actually have to use your products BEFORE deciding to change them. This looks far more complicated and unnecessary.

      Hi there. We've reduced insertion steps down from over 10 steps with Mio to only 4 steps with Mio Advance. It's the all-in-one insertion you're used to with Mio, with the added benefit that you can insert this Mio Advance device with one-hand, making it easier to reach harder to insert areas. In addition, unlike Mio, the new Mio Advance insertion needle is also hidden throughout the entire insertion process, before, during, and after insertion, helping those that may experience needle anxiety. If we can answer any other questions for you, please give our supply team a call at 800.646.4633, opiton 2.

      Sarah, the Mio Advance is still all in one infusion set. We understand diabetes supplies create unwanted waste and we do our best to reduce this where we can. We are happy to say that the Mio Advance has recyclable plastic containers.

  • @sarahsorenson4821
    @sarahsorenson4821 3 года назад +3

    Disappointed in the change. More bulky, too similar to the other insertion sites available, which I hated. Will strongly look at other pumps as the mio was one of the reasons I stayed with Medtronic my last time. The motion to insert the advanced is harder than the one for the regular mio, and hurts my wrist.

  • @6994KERG
    @6994KERG 3 года назад +12

    This is the exact same amount of steps, if not more, than the regular mio at twice the size and even more plastic waste. Discontinuing the mios for this is ridiculous. Not to mention that you can easily use the mio to insert the infusion set one-handed already.

    • @6994KERG
      @6994KERG 3 года назад

      Also - these clearly will take more storage space than the mio! Aren’t y’all trying to make things small and easy to handle? How is going from something the size of the palm of your hand to this an improvement? Should we expect a pump twice the regular size next year?

      Jennifer, the Mio Advance is still an all in one insertion infusion set, but the needle remains hidden before, during, and after insertion for those who may suffer from needle anxiety.

      The cannula has always been loaded after insertion. However, the amount of insulin needed varies according to the length of cannula. I think the new loading amount is an error.

  • @djzacharia3556
    @djzacharia3556 3 года назад +22

    I wish I had something nice to say, but this is almost reminiscent of what insulin pump supplies were like 30 + years ago. The discontinued design, albeit around for over a decade, was at least compact (an all-in-one unit). This “advanced” design looks like it was designed by a non-diabetic. The people that design these things should be forced to use them for a year, just to see how “easy” it (the Mio) really is to use, before introducing it to consumers. “Consumers” being the people who use this in order to stay alive (longer)/healthy. If there are insulin-dependent people on the R&D team, well, they should already know what the issues are with this.
    Medtronic, I don’t expect a response from you, but I hope my commentary at least gives your R&D something to think regarding future designs and implementations. 😒

    I do not think that this improves or simplifies anything. Yes I travel and space is a problem and this seems to add extra bulk and plastic to that process. I do not understand what problem you’re trying to correct. The five-six day sensor lifespan is a much bigger issue to me. Might be change time to change to a different product

    Just looked up the definition of advance; this product does not apply when compared to the original Mio Infusion Set. It's a misstep. As an engineer, avid backpacker, and frequent traveler, my jaw is on the floor with disappointment. This product is larger than the original, creates more waste, and has added unnecessary complexity. Thank you for filling my backpack & luggage, and planet earth with more space and waste. I continue to be disappointed by Medtronic's latest product offerings, including the 670G insulin pump and the awful guardian sensor.

    This is ridiculous. Definitely changing to different pump once my Mio supplies are close to running out. I’ve used Animas’s version of the Mio for 10 yrs and only switched to Medtronic’s miniMed because of the Mio when animas discontinued. Will definitely be changing to different pump company that has infusion sets similar to Mio. Very disappointed in Medtronic for making this decision. Should have allowed us to choose between the two and would have realized this new one is not a better choice. Going to be losing a lot of customers due to this 😕

    What is the benefit of this new method? And of course, there is no information about the price comparison to the old product, but I'm guessing ... The pump in the demo does not remotely resemble my own and its instructions, so I am left a bit bewiIdered of how it will work. I have been an avid fan of Medtronic for over 20 years b/c of the service I have received from some of your reps. But now I feel abandoned and fearful of what using this product will be like in reality. This "innovation" is a big step backwards ... wasteful, more complicated and unintuitive.
