  • Do you suffer from coffee not creamy as before, coffee puck not forming correctly, debris in the bottom tray where is should not be. It could be the infuser needs a quick service, this is not mentioned in the handbook. Machine here is ESAM4200S. **Safety First, you may wish to turn the machine off at the wall socket and remove the plug** If you get this as a regular problem then there are more technical videos that explain how to take the infuser completely apart.

    Note this is a quick fix for non-technical people, there is a video that actually shows how to fully dismantle the infuser.

    While you had the infuser removed why on earth didn’t you remove the plastic clip, push out the piston and clean and silicon grease the two O-rings around the piston?? Any form of vegetable oil should not be used as it can affect the O-rings in the infuser… Only a food grade silicon lubricant should be used. Removing the two o rings from the piston and cleaning and lubricating them is THE single most important maintenance item on the infuser.

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  3 года назад +8

      Thanks for the feedback. I didnt realise you could get food safe silicon grease. I see now you can also buy the o-rings for the magnifica, so I will do another video. Thanks again :)

    The machine was designed to not need lubricant. When you wash it you can open and close the basket mechanism whilst under water in the sink and it cleans it. Use 2 to 3 drops of dishwasher liquid to break the water tension if needed.
    If it’s not working because it’s jamming you could just replace it.

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  2 года назад +1

      Mine was working for more than a year just by washing it. Then it began to stick and jam up that is why I used olive oil to lubricate it. But now I have found some replacement rubber seals to service it with.

    I’ve plugged mine back in for the first time in ages, but I cannot get the water to flow. I’ve tried doing a de-scale, but it won’t go into the rescale mode. I’ve cleaned the water tank and it’s connectors, but still not getting any waterflow. Recommendations?

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  3 месяца назад

      First switch it off or unplug it from the wall socket. Turn it on again and all the lights will flash on and off and cleaning water will flow. If still a problem open the door and pull the impeller unit out and clean it . Does the steam function work

    Hi, I'm about to order one on these machines and this will be handy vid for future maintenance thank. I am limited for counter space and so intend to leave the drip tray off when not in use. Can you please tell me the distance the corners of the machine (without drip tray) would be if it was pushed flush to the back wall?

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  5 лет назад +1

      The depth from the back to the front without the drip tray is 25.5cm or 10 inches. The width of the device without the drip tray is 28cm or 11 inches. Note that the power cable comes out of the back of the machine but is flexible but may need a small amount of clearance.

      Old comment I know but for anyone else thinking of buying, the machine will not function if the drip tray/grinds bin isn't fitted although its just a simple switch and could probably be modified to bypass. Wouldn't recommend it as the machine does rinse cycles periodically and will cut out once the drip tray is full to stop flooding. Its a good machine the coffee is great, only gripe is there's no easy way to remove old beans from the grinder compartment.

      Turn the machine completely off, then on. If it hasnt completed a off cycle it will jam, and you may even not be able to open it up.

    You should not use oil of any kind. Only use food safe grease, it lubricates far better and lasts much longer on the plastic surface.

      On reflection I take your point, but I didnt want to unscrew the crosshead screw to see it the top came off. Something to try out. Have you done that and was everything ok.

    • @britishteapower
      @britishteapower 3 года назад

      @@TheCrazyChef you can unscrew the screw- good idea to do this and clean the metal filter. I've just ordered some silicon grease- there are videos showing how to easily take the infusion part apart and you can grease the O-rings as others have said.

      The spent descaler does a stellar job of cleaning the perforated foil from the top - don't leave it on your skin for long though.

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  4 года назад

      If not damaged place it in some warm water to soak. Then try pressing the top down to loosen it up. Apply some vegetable oil to loosen it up. I am assuming you can take it out of the machine

  • @jjefffers
    @jjefffers 3 года назад +1

    Sorry but that is not good advice. You need to pop the clip and silicone grease the orings or replace if necessary. Using veg oil to grease the outside of the piston is almost useless.

    • @TheCrazyChef
      @TheCrazyChef  3 года назад

      I agree, I have replacement rings and food safe silicon type grease. The initial video was designed to be a quick fix, which in reality has to be done quite often. I do intend to do an update which is more lasting.

      @@TheCrazyChef As already been mentioned, you're not supposed to put any type of oil/grease/lube where you put it, and you failed to do the main thing one is supposed to do in servicing the diffuser, and that is to remove the piston, and remove and clean and lube the O-rings with food-safe grease (or replace the O-rings with new ones).
