Chuck D and Anthrax is the ultimate proof that it doesn't matter who you are, where you grew up, or what color your skin is-we can ALL get along and bang heads together. 1969 Gen X here. We had racism on the ropes. We laughed at racist jokes about ourselves and others but regarded racist people as fools stuck in the horrible past we were lucky to be born after. In the 90's if you were against racism it just meant you were a regular person. Anthrax and Public Enemy on stage collab is all the proof I needed. We didn't cancel people. The dude making the hardcore racist jokes usually got the hint that nobody was laughing. It was a sly accountability, and we had tough conversations without worrying about pissing each other off. There are always going to be racist individuals. It is already illegal to discriminate against people by Race, Religion, Sex, Disability, and other immutable characteristics. I investigated Federal and State discrimination complaints for 8 years. There are many instances of racism. And it was awesome helping people through it and holding accountable those who are unwilling to provide equal access/opportunity to everyone. There are also many many instances where the human experience of being surrounded by our own misperceptions led to a misunderstanding. Many accusations of racism were when the employer or landlord doesn't give a reason for their actions and the person is left to their assumptions. Those assumptions and feelings for how things are generally going are shaped by information the person gets. If every source of information is telling them white supremacists are lurking everywhere, that no matter how hard they work it will not matter because of racism, it doesn't take a phd to figure out what the majority of humans in that situation would assume. Too much togetherness isn't good for the ones sticking it to us so Division has become the game once again. They need White Supremacy to be a boogeyman. So many things to say about this. I was 22 when this came out. I'll be 53 years old tomorrow. Been a fan of Anthrax since 1983 and they always have MULTIPLE spots in my Spotify playlist, including this track. I'm not really sure what "stuck" with me about these guys but in a way, maybe I compare them to a thrash version of Van Halen. They always look like they're really enjoying what they're doing. Keep it up boys and best of luck, Charlie in the Pantera tribute tour! Oh shit!! I didn't even notice Joey until the end!! Nice!!

Sorry. Thank you guys for recording once again this amazing song. I see you playing alive in Buenos Aires, Argentina during "Sound of the white noise tour" so incredible your energy and precission. Being a big fan of P.E. and ANTHRAX i'm really happy to see you perform togheter one more time. Can we expected another featuring in the future? Big hug from Buenos Aires!!
I have to agree with the guy who says it's a tie between him and Lombardo because Lombardo has been involved in so many different projects and drummed so many different styles. I just haven't seen Charlie play drums for anything other than rock music whereas Dave Lombardo has played drums for Apocalyptica, and several other projects where he played completely different styles compared to his work in Slayer and other thrash projects. Dave also gets credit for the amount of bands he's currently tied to as he just rejoined Testament in March 2022 after many years away, he is the drummer of record for Mr Bungle, Suicidal Tendencies, and even The Misfits. He doesn't tour with all of them but he has played shows with each one of them and has been the studio drummer when they recorded. I'm sure Charlie will do a great job during the Pantera reunion shows that are coming up in 2023 and I guess that is where I will see how well he plays the material. I'm not taking anything away from Charlie but there are moments in the studio where Joey Belladonna, of course the lead singer of Anthrax and accomplished drummer, has played on tracks instead of Charlie. Most people don't know that Belladonna is considered a badass drummer and at least in the formulative years of the band he was considered the better drummer but he was singing and didn't need to do both jobs at once. I am not dissing Charlie but I need to see him be in other bands playing different styles like Dave Lombardo has over the years.
Read Scott Ian's book some time. He talks about how Public Enemy wasn't really used to big rock tours when they first joined forces, so the whole thing was new to them. They were blown away that Anthrax had their own lighting crew.
This was some of the heaviest rap rock that was out there back in the day, man we had the best shit out there. P.E and Anthrax the definitive rap rock fusion.

If you were around back then and had seen Anthrax on Headbanger's Ball in their Among The Living and State Of Euphoria days, you knew two things. One: Anthrax was the only band of the Big Four that was based on the East Coast. They had a different vibe and a definite groove. Two: Public Enemy had a punkish vibe that didn't need explaining to more diverse metal fans. Three: I pity the fool that doesn't turn it up.

That was wicked. Big fan of Charlie, this beat is just so groovy, it grooves, y'know, speaking as a drummer myself it's the type of rhythm you can get lost in.

It only makes a difference to me if you can smell that someone's not really into it. And posers, they can fuck right off too.
Pretty sure we saw Slayer play there on the RIB tour too. Great venue.
I saw Public Enemy play this live at club 616 in Memphis. One of the best concerts ever. Make no mistake in his prime Flav could throw down with the best! I miss my twenties. lol
I love it, at 41 years old they’re still at it, loved them as a kid and have them blasting in 2023. Fuck yeah.
This sounds absolutely amazing.
I love that they updated it, and still rings true that you cross anything and make it sound amazing
You guys created a entire genre with this song and I enjoy until now so Thank You!
They Deff did not create this genre. But this track got it mainstream so im stoked
@@POOCOMESFROMFOOD They've been credited for laying the groundwork for rap metal and nu metal.
@@thetruechaby groundwork yes, but not creating the genre
@@POOCOMESFROMFOOD No band did something like that before them, so essentially, that's it - they created it.
@@thetruechaby RATM are the creators lol, but even before them there was Urban Dance Squad.
also fun fact, Ian himself even states RATM are the creators... not him lol
Final year of high school for me. The best decade of my life, perhaps the last great decade we've seen.
One my all time favorite Anthrax songs EVER!! I can't wait to see them this Aug in Austin!! A dream come true!!
Shit was fire back in the day and still is!!!!! I was bumping P.E. in my car and Anthrax all the time and then the greatest thing ever happened... P.E. + Anthrax together= FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got the looks from peeps back then wondering what the hell i was listening to... so i always turned it up so the whole neighborhood could hear it when i drove down the avenue. LOL Would love to see Chuck D and them doing it live. Peace my friends and stay strong and healthy cuz the new generations need to see two legendary acts preaching the truth about society \ the establishment and the wrongs it does and what we must focus on and fix.. it isnt a white or black thing.. it is an us vs the elite thing... much love...From HvyMtl Jesus and The Ole Skool Gang....
I love the fact that the older these boys get the greater the venom in their performance!!!!! 😁
Anthrax and P.E. is a collab made in heaven. I just wish there had been a Sonny Bono/Yoko Ono album.
Big Hellyeah!! This made my day!!
I love anthrax
Chuck D killing it like he always does! A living legend!
That was wicked. Big fan of Charlie, this beat is just so groovy, it grooves, y'know, speaking as a drummer myself it's the type of rhythm you can get lost in.
well then give PE the credit. It's their song.
@@rollotomassi4768 You clearly didn't hear the drummer get wicked. Nor do you understand all of the flavor, dynamics, nuance, attack, etc. that Charlie adds to the beat, let alone the entire song. Not to mention his insane improv moments. Even Chuck D. shouts out Charlie's playing in the video like a thousand times lol. You just come off as some sperg that has to correct anybody and anything, even if there's nothing to correct. Go touch some grass. Or smoke some...idgaf.
@@xenophagia Dude you cupping Charlie's balls or what? Awfully salty. I'm a big Anthrax fan. Saw them a couple times. I'm a huge PE fan. Just was saying give credit where credit is due
Rollo, let Charlie get wicked.
¡Con ustedes nació el Nü Metal!
With you born the Nü Metal!
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷 🤘!
This would be so cool for Superbowl halftime.
I was feeling like crap. Then I saw this video and clicked on it. Now, I'm totally feeling better. Thank you for this upload. Hell yea!! You guys still rock! I was in High school when this first came out. Always having fun while rocking out. Love it. You guys are awesome. Never stop playing.
This is amazing! Well done, gents! Definitely made my Monday!
Chuck D with PE and Anthrax was the best collaboration between metal and rap ever.
I remember watching this when mtv was an actual music channel in the 80s, where’s flava? Absolute legendary song and collab.
The can
Flava and Chuck have been falling out over the rights to Public Enemy for a few years now.
I’d listen to this all day - Militant Rap and Thrash
No words to describe this MASTERPIECE
I was seventeen at the time & had a record store called "220 VOLTS" in Campinas,São Paulo,Brasil.
We made history.
