  • In today's episode of Beyond the Headline, anchor Sneha Koshy explores the fascinating journey from Malappuram to the world, highlighting Kerala's evolving migration trends. The episode delves into the steady rate of emigrants, the rising number of students pursuing education abroad, and the increasing presence of female professionals in the West. It also examines how the Gulf is no longer the primary destination for Keralites, signaling a shift towards intellectual exports over physical labor. This discussion sheds light on the changing dynamics of Kerala's migration equation and its global impact. "This is an eye opener for all the states in India, other states you don't anything, if you do similar surveys in other parts, you're going to get the same thing..." says IMAD Chair, Irudaya Rajan. Watch the full video to know more and stay tuned with Mirror Now for more latest updates.

    I am not only from Kerala but I was working in an academy which helps students study in a foreign countries, children now prefer to live in European countries, if they stay there for 5 years continuously they will get PR. lifestyle, money facilities, weather etc. attract children and some parents say that the political situation in India will be not favourable in future, is also one of the reasons. Not only, foreign immigration started in Kerala even before independence, then it was in Gulf countries and countries like US UK only, now youths like to go to any European countries, because we have a very famous traveler, he has a great influence among us, he is a fan of all youths, watch that channel, the children became fond of traveling. According to the Kerala government, there are Malayalis in 182 countries, we Malayalis are the most dispersed community. So in short lack of work is not the only real reason, the thought that traveling is to enjoy life is also a reason. Children's education is free in European countries, that is why nurses take their families there.

    It's not about Kerala alone. Kerala is taking a hit due to the mess in India at large. #KERALA as a state was much ahead of any other in all aspects except employment... when. Menial pay scales and poor standards of living in other states are also major factors. With standards of lifestyle and healthcare in all aspects, Kerala is much ahead of all the states. I am a taxpayer from Kerala living in another state where I face racism, class systems, and discrimination. I get zero benefit from my contribution. India is messed up.

    • @akrishnan1382
      @akrishnan1382 24 дня назад +5

      I believe it is the other way round. Kerala is surviving because it has the support system from other states of India - be it employment, food supply, labour supply from other states despite Keralites being lazy to do any work in their home state. The high standards of living in Kerala you talk about is mainly due to the remittance economy as Kerala is largely dependent resources from other states of India and abroad, including products and services. All the talk about Kerala is much ahead of other states is a hogwash and many Keralites, despite living outside Kerala, brag about. Why then are Keralites settling in every corner of the world other than Kerala ? If Kerala has the best healthcare system in the country, why many keralites seek medical treatment in TN, Karnataka, Mumbai etc? I do not see anyone from Kerala being discriminated in other states unless you show some sort of superiority complex in other states claiming to be from a so called developed state of India or you refuse to accept their religious practices, or indulge in illegal activities. Every citizen of India is paying taxes in our day to day lives, and if one earns income within the country above taxable limit every citizen is liable to pay tax. You are not a special category to get exemption from taxes. As a citizen you get all protection like any other citizen. If India is such a messy place, you are free to choose another country to live.

    1. Job might be gauranteed if one is a party loyalist. (Educational qualifications has no more quality due to low standards and rampant corruption in some fake sub standard educational institutions).
    2. Drug abuse has increased sadly over the years due to free hand given to anti national forces.
    3. Industries are not attracted towards the state because of political interference and oppression in many forms.
    4. At least a microscopic number of People might have of lately began to understand that secularism is fading fast with it freedom, safety because intolerant faith and anti national ideology is suffocating democracy.
    5. Dont be suprised if in a few years Kerala becomes a Union Territory all in the interest of National security as Kerala is the Southern Gate of the Nation unfortunately in some danger in recent years due to some wicked entities operating from there freely of lately.
    6. The remittance will stop soon when children and parents begin to settle elsewhere, only thing remmaning and prosepering will be wicked Representatives of People who are totally responsible for the above mess.

    When any better opportunity exist in other states of India or abroad,students and professionals will leave the state for greener pastures for education,job and settlement.The migration is on the rise across other states as well.Most of the unskilled workers in kerala are from north east totalling seventy lakhs in head count,while labourers of kerala have been going out to gulf or other states or countries for unskilled or semi skilled or even skilled jobs.Domiciled qualified people and students are now deserting kerala by aspirational migration dusgusted with the bad state of affairs in kerala.Lastly it is cheaper to study abroad for medicine or other courses.
