Actually, "The Wild" was in production BEFORE "Madagascar", just released later. Apparently, DreamWorks heard about it and decided to use it for their own movie, then rush it into production so they could get it out first. I still like the "Madagascar" movies, though, and I can't blame people for thinking of "The Wild" as a ripoff of "Madagascar".
To me, this feels like a case of Dreamworks saying "Jeez, this doesn't really look right. They are on to something though. Let's make a better version of this!"
_Most_ animals can eat meat. Plants are actually harder to digest. The animals that are herbivores are moreso out of not wanting to hunt than out of not being able to digest meat. In fact, given the chance deer tend to eat birds and sheep have been known to stomp and eat mice.
***** None that I've heard of specifically when the subject is actually discussed, I mainly said "most" to cover the possibility of a small number I haven't heard of yet to which the generality does not apply. There might also be some parasites that attack plants which some people could argue to be animal and which can't be sustained by animal hosts, but I'm not sure how people would count the possibility of such things.
You're praising the almost realistic animation and designs but in my opinion they look very unpleasant and out of place. When watching this I always had a feeling that in fact I'm seeing a live action movie with bad CGI animal characters even though it is a fully animated film and I knew it from the beginning. The "humor" of this movie adds to this - it's just like all those bad live-action-with-CGI movies... Yeah, I really don't like it. But everyone has their own tastes and opinion, I won't argue or anything.
I hate when people makes it sound like something must be either serious and dark all the time or silly and funny all the time. Movies, TV shows and other stuff can both have lots of crazy and very funny comedy and can also have a serious story with many dark and emotional moments.
I do love the movie Madagascar, however I don't think this is exactly like it. The Wild: Samson and his friends must go find Ryan, his son, who accidentally gets shipped to the jungle, they go to the jungle, have an adventure trying to find him, then go home. Madagascar: Alex, Melvin and Gloria try to stop Marty from leaving the zoo, they all get caught and are sent to Madagascar, realize their wild nature and that they're animals not people, then they go back home
Marvel Fan In Madagascar, Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman don’t make it back to New York at the end. Private told Skipper that the boat is out of gas and if they should remind them or not. They don’t make it back until Europe’s Most Wanted
In elementary school we had a reward system if you made all A's and B's during the midterm you got to go see and see a movie. This was one of those movies and it was BORING. NOBODY LIKED IT. Half the kids were in the theaters arcade (which only had three games so that gives off how much this movie sucked) and if you didn't have the money (like me) then you had two choices. Suffer or sleep. And in elementary school something had to be bad to put you to sleep. And this was one of those cases.
Well technically Madagascar is a clever guy's interpretation of this. I think Dreamworks saw the previews and was like "they are on to something, but it doesn't seem quite right. Let's show em how it's done!"
So, let's see. This music you used for the score revealing means the film is mediocre. The Sonic Game Over music means the film is god awful. The Sonic music *can't remember the title* means the film is good, am I right?
I forgot how it even looked. I only remember being annoyed by how the Koala didn't have an Australian accent, which is also the only thing I remember from Sing. I feel sorry for Koalas, going extinct, they're much friendlier than emus or kangaroos so they should be on the national emblem instead, but with all the shit they cop, getting poisoned and deforestation; well they can't even get proper representation in an animated film.
I remember this movie. I even have it on DVD. I... didn't really know what to make of it. I just kept thinking it would have been better if there had been a lion native to the area who also had been separated from their pride, following in meeting Ryan. If course, this would cause them to teach Ryan what it meant to actually be a lion from the wild. ... well, crap, now I want to see that happened. Who's with me on this?

I agree with Animat that there is an equal amount of comedy and darkness in The Wild, but none of it was enough to make me happy. suprisingly Madagascar 1 recieved mixed reviews when it came.
I loved this movie as a kid, and for some reason, I STILL like it many years later XD

The Animation (4/10)

Kimba the White Lion vs. The Lion King. Sorry Kimba, but The Lion King wins hands down!
Otulissa and people still call it a ripoff
Link Hoss Neal Lol did I say that?
Otulissa Everyone will always say one series is a ripoff to another when not actually watching it. So it's a common mistake.
