Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke on the floor of the Senate on Dec. 12, 2014 about the provision that Citigroup added to the omnibus budget package.
The fact that it is almost shocking to see a politician actually advocating for the interest of their constituency is rather sad, don't you think?

This isn't rare for the majority of Democratic supporters. This has been our stance for years! What I find humorous is that I'm convinced that most of us in this country are now and have been for a very long time on the same page at heart in what we want. I think we've allowed ourselves to become confused and manipulated against one another.
You've got it all wrong if you think this is a Democrat-Republican issue. There are many issues of governance and society that transcend party politics. Corporate cronyism is one of these issues.

I was only saying that compared to Hillary, she's good, but that's not saying much is it? I think the best advice is not to vote for any Democrat or Republican. They are two cheeks on the same rear end. Rather, we need someone who's truly independent to run for prez, and to form a coalition with like-minded independents to get elected to Congress. Then there needs to be a way to protect them once they're in office. How to do that I don't know.

This budget deal is absolutely disgusting. More financial deregulation, the potential for a second TARP, cuts to pensions, and cuts to funding for Pell Grants to help out students. Once again, the people lose.

In our era of corrupt politics and consolidated markets, to see you stand on the floor and give such a ballsy speech is just absolutely amazing. You are a hero of these times ma'am. And that isn't coming from somebody who agrees with all of your positions, I'm pro-gun and I like markets and Land Value Tax instead of socialism. But this country needs you. Nobody speaks the truth like you do in DC, nobody has the nerve to stand up to the mighty cyclopean horror of citigroup and the horror of current DC politics. Nobody gets things done to the extent or in the way you do. We need a president like you, not like that Wall Street worshipper Clinton, not another impotent Obama, not a "collapse America for Wall street profit" Romney, this country needs YOU. I lost my house to citi group. We had an offer a good offer on a short sale, they wouldn't approve it foreclosed on us and auctioned it off for the same amount as the short sale. We don't believe in filing bankruptcy, we never missed a payment in 4 years until the economy broke down and we had to choose between keeping our staff and small business or keeping our home. We received packet after packet of government programs, supposed solutions. They lost our paper work, didn't return calls basically wearing us down. Please Senator Warren don't let them forget, make them pay for what they've done.

As much as I agree with your feeling, I would hate to lose one of the few voices I hear in the Senate that consistently talk about these issues.
She has now. Unfortunately she handled herself very poorly during that Indian DNA fiasco. Hopefully Bernie can win the primary this time.

I like, and more importantly, respect this woman. She is not a politician but, rather, that which is increasingly becoming a rare breed in Washington...a statesman (or Stateswoman for the politically correct minded). She appeals to both sides of the aisle and build on their agreements, rather than their differences. This is the hallmark of a true leader. I truly wish we had more people in Washington like her - people who really care and who embrace the true meaning of public service.
My message to Senator Warren: You are my fellow American. Please run for the office of President. We need someone who isn't afraid of the telling the truth and, more importantly, to committing themselves to it.

This provision in the spending bill places taxpayers on the hook for $Trillion (yes with a 'T'). This was approved by members of both political parties. Remember this bill and those who voted for it when the next bailout takes place. What's in YOUR WALLET?

My mom and dad got to certain positions in their careers in government and then one day, sat us kids down to tell explain that they would not continue on what could have become a more stellar [dollar-wise] career for them because, "We have integrity kids. We never want to feel that we owe anyone nor that they owe us." Perhaps naive of them but YES Senator Warren... Well said ma'am, Citi seeps even into the Department of Defense, with their lobbying. Considering almost every Government Travel Card option that comes to the military is always something from Citi. It just makes me wonder how many billions they are raking in from lobbying to be the only option for GTCs.

We need more politicians willing to stand against special interests the way Warren is. It's a shame she's ruled out a 2016 presidential bid, but hopefully she might decide to run in the future.

She should have gone farther to tell the American people they no longer live in a democracy but an oligarchy controlled by a very few financial corporations. This is something that is well know all across Europe but our media has failed to get this message across to the American people.
Interesting that her remarks are deleted/blanked when she says "The American People are disgusted". " Disgusted " is not audible. Also at 7:32 she says "they have too much political power." The word "political" is deleted. Sure it's probably just a glitch, but these were two strong words at strong moments, and somehow they didn't get recorded. Just sayin'. And wonderin'.
