@jimcoburn562 the easy answer for the overhead block is it's less of a block as it is a strike and the intention of the upward action is to divert the incoming strike not directly stopping the attack as demonstrated by many teacher's, we'll do a future video on the overhead block in the near future that will go into details that will directly explain the options.

Yes it is there's more similarities as you progress in theses drills that create sensitivity to the action of an individual.
