Great job Richard and Jennifer, you make a great team. Congratulations to the monthly drawing winners on both channel's and good luck to those who enter next months drawings.
You had a great simple lunch and a great time at the table. Keep up the fun and food sessions. Good to see that last beam get set, it's really coming together. Thanks for sharing with us, it's looking great around there and greening up big time. Stay safe , Fred.
Hey Fred, good morning. Yeah, I’ll tell you what that was some pretty hard work that went into that to get it to that point. I’m kind of getting over this building and itching to start another one, lol. That’s nothing new right? Anyway, we’ll see it through And hope you have a great weekend
Look so good
Why thank you Gloria
Everything is looking great! I think we a due an early spring!
I agree!
Congrats to the winners, boy those to really enjoy going to the creek. Looks like a lot of work being done. Can’t wait to see the finished product. As always I enjoyed watching Richard, Thanks for sharing.
Something about the sawmill cuts is mesmerizing. Good job you guys
Lol. We sure have given that mill a workout.
The workshop is really coming along. I enjoy watching the progress.
Thank you so much. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it.
Well done
Thanks for the video always good to see you all.
Thank you and have a great weekend
Looking good , always nice to see you and Jennifer working together. Keep the humor hour coming! LOL love you guys.
Thank you. Very kind words. Have a good weekend
It’s always interesting how simple it is to build those beams
They aren’t hard at all. It just takes time to prepare them.
Well done Jennifer helping your dad out 👍🏴
She’s a great big help and a real good girl
Good Work guy's !! The workshop is going to be Awesome ! Getting close to finishing the framing, I think I see a roof in your future...
We are sure, hoping so. We can’t wait to get started on another project, lol
Great job! The work shop is taking shape!
Sure is! Thanks!
Guten Morgen zusammen passt auf euch auf 👋🙋♂️🇩🇪🤗
Thanks!
Keep up the good work, I know youre doing it for the look, but adding those chop marks seems like a lot of extra work. I like the rough sawn log appearance as is.
Thanks, Glenn!
Morning - sent you an E mail a few days ago - I guess it didn't work as I got no reply. Ill try again later today. Im out in my workshop doing all the projects I have planned. Its going to be a busy summer around here as lots of fixer upper things to do. You guys take care and have a great weekend. big hugs from Perth Ontario Canada.
I don’t remember getting one, but I will go back and look. Thanks for pointing that out to us. Yes I can feel spring in the air here and it’s time to get on with the projects. I’m going right now to check the email. have a great weekend.
Hey Ted! Jennifer here. We did not receive the email. Not sure why. Can you email us again at smokymountainoutpost@gmail.com
Jennifer and I both looked and couldn’t find any email. I wondered if maybe you may have mentioned it in a comment on the video. Send us an email at Smoky Mountain outpost@gmail.com and let us know the particulars.
أنت مبدع، أحييك من الجزائر.
Thank you
Greetings, I love the work you do. Although it is a repetitive process, I am very interested in your work and it is very interesting. You can see the work well done. By the way, the large saw you use for the final cut is magnificent. God bless you and thank you for these videos.
Thank you for the nice compliment. Yes it is repetitive but I guarantee you every time that I’m working on one. It’s a brand new piece of material. People don’t realize the amount of work that goes into preparing all of that from scratch. Most builders would use stuff ready to go.
Your Building is Really Coming Along! Good To See Jennifer Helping You! Hope Yall Have A Wonderful Weekend My Friend's! Gonna Be A Wet Rainy Weekend Here In The Foothills of The Old North State! NC
Thank you for the nice compliment. And yes I don’t know what I would do without Jennifer. Take care and have a great weekend.
like the shaping of the pegs
Great progress, this has been a really neat process to watch along with.
Well thank you. Hope you have a great weekend.
Great job love your video and the jokes.
Thanks!
Looks hard work. Always watch the channel. Looks like a ideal life. All the best guys
Actually, it’s not all that hard. It’s just time-consuming. Thanks for the comment. Hope you have a great weekend.
❤❤❤ Nice work, again. Hug from Norway.
Thank you and hope you have a great weekend
Looking great and you are a very skilled builder. Would have loved to see more of the assembly don't know why you cut that out 😀
I didn’t cut it out because I didn’t film it. We were lucky to get that up before dark as it was. We’ll get to see plenty more of the assembly as time goes by. Hope you have a great weekend.
Looks good and thanks for the laughs.
Glad you enjoyed
Whether it is looking so nice there. We are at 20° f, and the ground is covered with snow. Definitely slows me down.
Oh man. I can remember those days as a kid living in the north. So happy that the family relocated south where we have nine months of warm weather and only three months of cold weather and very little snow. Stay tuned and stay safe, we’ll see you in the next one. Have a great weekend.
You have probably said before but are you working from a set of plans and drawings for the shop building? Love what you’re doing. You are an inspiration to us old guys that can’t physically do that kind of work anymore.
No plans. Build as I go. I feel older than I am, lol
What’s Doughno wood Jennifer ? Is that Doughno tree kin to the idunno Tree ? 🤣🤣
LOL!
Another great video.. keep it up
Thank you and we hope you have a great weekend
Very good work... Homesteading is not a sit around kind of lifestyle.
This is for both you and Jennifer.( what has 5 toes and it's not your foot... ITS MY FOOT😅😂...
None of the work is hard. It is time consuming. But who cares on a homestead, right? Lol
It's looking good
Thank you
Good Evening Richard/ Jennifer
Always great to look at your videos. . Everything is great, coming on with the buildings. Where is the beautiful Patrick, have'nt seen him for a long time. Take care. Lots of love. Maria in South Africa. ❤❤❤
Thank you for those wonderful words. We certainly appreciate it. Patrick says he’s coming in soon so hopefully it won’t be too long. Hope all is well and have a great weekend.
Thank you very much. You must also have a great weekend. ❤❤❤
Great work ❤ RSA
Thank you for the nice comment. And glad you enjoyed the video. Have a great weekend.
😊
En ese lugar debes de haber un clima muy agradable en cuanto a la cabaña está quedando preciosa Dios bendiga amen 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, our weather is warm about nine months of the year and about three months of cold weather

They sure do.
You two are adorable! Zane from California
Thank you!! 😊
Checking in with SM outpost don't be Dumb hit the Thumb for the channel.
She’s a big help for sure. I don’t know what I would do without her.
If I hit it, will it cancel one out, lol. Hope you have a great weekend.
Another great job 😅
Thanks 😅
I know the saw mill was costly, then again you have several stationary planners. table saw, sanders and an jointer. As you combine the cost of these and your collection of hand tools you can almost have another $100,,000.00 if not more.
John
No, I disagree. Sawmill 6300, hand tools 5000, labor priceless. Tractor is part of every farm/homestead. I have pinched Pennie’s wherever possible. It doesn’t cost that much.
good video and job really nice work Jennifer got you on jokes this time. take care, be safe and well.
Thanks, John!
I rewrote the comment and it is Roy Underhill that is good with wood with hand tools. He is getting older too now. Paul here will be 70 in five months. Norm just wants to be perfect in his wood shop. Make some saw dust, cut the board the wrong size. Glue it up wrong then do it over again. We learn by our mistake.
Richard, that is one awsome job there. You sure that workshop will only be a hundred thousand. Your not counting the value of the tools right?
John in Anchorage, AK
lol, just the shop. Not sure really. What do you think it would be worth?
Only thing better than tools is a pouch to put them in !
Good luck in the drawing
Is there a better sound than a sharp slick slicing the pine? 👋
It will tickle your ears. The whole process is fun. Actually it’s just seems like I’ve been working on it forever.
Great work you two, Does the Australian timber oil kill the bugs? I see all the holes from them. Jennifer and Richard keep up the funny jokes a few good laughs is always good.😉
I have seen a few over the years and seems like all the sawing, burning and chiseling brings them out. I sweep them off. I’m sure there may be some left. But the size timbers I use would take them a “long” time to destroy.
Where do you get the pencil you have

Here ya go!
Did you think your place was being raided when the helicopters flew over? I live by the Little Rock Air Force Base and we have the C-130 planes flying over us all the time (training for the C-130 pilots). We do have the occasional helicopter flying overhead because of the National Guard base located here too.
lol, no I could hear them. They are knocking out hours behind the wheel. Just thought I would add the shot.
Richard, have you ever used a Japanese pull saw?
Many times. I have one I use every so often.
I’ve been wondering about what you’re going to put in that part of the workshop you’re building.
Wood storage. If you haven’t watched our “Outpost Review” channel, I talk about these things a lot. You might like it
Did someone make that corner chisel for you?
My neighbor. You can buy them from Amazon.
You need to turn your frogs down there in the background pretty loud
Every spring. I told them to but they wouldn’t listen
Was that one end of the post only fatwood??? (@26:40)
There was quite a bit of it there for sure. That was yellow pine.
Why not put the beams directly on concrete?
Wood will wick moisture. I used a piece of shingle between wood and concrete pillar. If your referring to a concrete slab, it would cost to much. The wood and work are free, and a lot of fun to do.
thanks. I'm Brazilian and my English is poor, sorry. Wood isn't free here, I'm not a builder, but one day I'd like to build my log cabin. My goal is to learn. thanks.
No worries. We have over 500 videos on RUclips. We just build things from what we have.
🇳🇴👍👍👌🥇
Thinking of your neighbor and his wife.
His wife is on hospice now, which helps out a little bit for him
Hey Richard I was just wondering how your neighbor’s wife is doing? Please send my best regards to them, thank you.
She is on hospice now. I certainly will.
So sorry to hear that, prayers heading that way 🙏
Let me ask you, do you know which Celebrity is always ready to eat some cereal?
?
Reese with her spoon (Reese Witherspoon)@@SmokyMountainOutpost
Mark 1:21-22
King James Version
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. Gods blessings over you
Still love the jokes.
Cringe.
Stop showing so many repetitive tasks
If I didn’t show those, I wouldn’t have any video, lol. That is what I do all day long every day. I bring those along who want to see the process. Hopefully there was some part of the video that you got some entertainment out of. Hope you have a great weekend.
Perfect response 😊@@SmokyMountainOutpost
