I've done moat skip and get Mario with 1 star, took me forever. Trying to do this now! Doing 1 star playthrough of the game because I want to mess around in levels without getting many stars. Thanks for uploading!
Hey aether! I know the 50 star door skip is also a rabbit clip, but can you teach us what to do after the clip for the 50 star (in this tutorial, you told us to hold left/ tap down which worked).
Nice tutorial. Only thing that I would say is that you can do the clips as Yoshi (it might even be slightly easier as yoshi) however you can't grab bowser's tail as him (I think he sometimes spits out hats, but im not sure on that). But anyway, there's no point doing it as yoshi in runs because you need mario's upstairs rabbit for the 50 star door skip.
in my pb I used yoshi, you must open marios door or else when bowser spits a mario hat the game will crash because he is not unlocked. And Yoshi is very beginner friendly and its really consistent. after fire sea just switch to mario and go upstairs.
I have a yoshi run theory. (bowser does spit out hats if you're yoshi) catch the rabbit right as you're about to enter shifting sand land (eat the rabbit). I don't know the rest of the trick but someone got to fire sea as yoshi!
Fun fact: This trick is REQUIRED if you wanna get all stars in order. The reason is this: The final star in Jolly Roger Bay (level 3) requires Wario. Unlocking Wario requires getting to the second floor. Getting to the second floor requires defeating Bowser in Bowser in the Fire Sea. Getting to Bowser in the Fire Sea requires (without glitches) beating the first star in Dire Dire Docks (level 9). However if you get that star, since you're still on Jolly Roger Bay, you'd break the in order run. But with this glitch, it's possible to bypass Dire Dire Docks and get right to Bowser in the Fire Sea, unlock the second floor, and unlock Wario. And I can confirm that this does indeed work.
So... a character with a dive is really useful, but is it possible without (so with Yoshi)? Do you have video proof? It's relevant for a possible future RUclips-video of mine. Thanx!
Nice tutorial ! Have you ever played Another Super Mario 3D ? I've seen paradox's speedrun of it and he's clipping with a toad at the end, and I couldn't reproduce it after a lot of tries ... Do you have any visual key or setup for it ? (asuming you've tried it)

Hi! Thank you! I was planning to make a tutorial for 8 Star Door Skip, but it ended up taking too many rerecords because it's the most inconsistent and hardest trick in the game. Rabbit clip for 50 Star door will probably be made eventually :)
Alright, is there any way to learn the setup of the 8 star door skip tho ? Because I've tried to reproduce it from your wr video but can't get the right angle to clip the wall
Hold down both Right and Down on the dpad at the same time when entering the door, let go of both, go into first person so you can see the angle, exit first person, jump with the angle and try to line yoshi up with the corner, go into the corner and tap right on the dpad a few times, then start slide kicking with only holding up first. Then, make sure you delay your slide kicks each time so yoshi doesn't have his slide kicks cancel and everytime you slide kick you tap left while still holding up.
Great tutorial, but not sure why you said you have to tap down after the rabbit text box to hit the water, I also just hold down left and it works everytime for me.

the 50 star only works with mario though. There's a way to skip the 8 star door and get to goomboss early

I keep getting MARIO almost clipped through, but he doesn't fall into the water, even when I hold left and tap down.

Pretty late, but is there a specific setup for the early mario skip? i cant seem to glide up the wall when i slidejump in the corner by the door.
hold down right when you enter the door, keep the angle, go into the corner, tap right, repeatedly slide kick until your thumb is numb, suffer
oh my god suffer is correct! i can only imagine how 1 star runs this glitch ruined. at least i have a new found respect for those great runs
I almost got it. I sometimes get the clip into the wall, but just fall into an empty void, not the water. Any tips?

It's possible in all versions but the Korean one, since there are no rabbits
