Honestly though, I play as well as him 😅 so I really can't blame him for his struggles
I mean no cruelty and or mean-spirit by this, but seeing Gearisko be bad at Mario makes me feel better about being bad at games in general. I don’t feel so alone anymore.

I find it funny, he was inspired by Toadbup, and he's just as bad.
You missed the detail of the Peach painting only opening her eyes when you face away from her. It's not just random blinking.
Also, casually talks about the SimpleFlips Creepypasta competition, but doesn't mention the well-deserved winner of said competition, Regular Pasta 64.
The scariest thing in this video is Gearisko saving all his save states to the same slot, overwriting the previous one.
Someone needs to start making reverse horror rom hacks where everything is happy and up beat and bowser bakes everyone a cake

That just sounds like a mario fangame with extra steps
What I love about the last one is the phrase "we have to do something special for you" really makes you think it's something related to Mario and Peach themselves since that is what Peach tells Mario at the end of the game, but then it's revealed to be misleading where Mario has nothing to do with it and it was just the last phrase the father says before getting to his child. The only thing Mario related to the story is that the kid has a Mario 64 poster in his room
Honestly with how the hack is structured, it makes it seem like Mario is discovering this after the fact. He's not in any danger, simply learning of things he is powerless to do anything about.

The fact multiple ROM Hack's were covered was a real surprise to me. But I'm not complaining, especially since I haven't seen a few of them. The rabbit hole of Mario 64 horror really never ends...
The 3000 deaths actually makes this more fun to watch. I reallh enjoy how he keeps a level head and doesn't rage! ❤ Cool romhack, cool dude!

I've got one. "The Picture of Bob-omb Battlefield." It's nothing groundbreaking and it does take inspiration from Undertale in case that's a turn-off for you, but I just think it's neat little hack that's a nice break from all of the gory/glitchy stuff that most horror hacks fall into.

@@Mordecai02 Yeah I'm aware, he mentions that in the video. I would recommend he either practice a lot more with this unfortunate control style before recording, or only play Mario roms with a proper controller (they are not expensive).
The reason this kind of matters here is because half of the video is just watching him struggle with exaggerated, self-caused difficulty. The horror should come from scary game design... not from every single long-jump causing 15 deaths due to user error. That many unnecessary deaths is not only distracting but it reduces the horror of the game to the background. Is this part REALLY hard because the designer wanted it that way? Or is it just incompetent gameplay? These questions are clouded by videos like this.
Just my two cents.
@@ghostshipmurmurs7917 I mean I agree, but at the same time cut him some slack, he has a controller and genuinely did try his best to find an emulator that would accept both the rom and his controller but could only find one that played the rom and it didn't like his controller.
Also I kind of like the deviation from the norm here in terms of focusing on his playthrough rather than simply discussing it at length and limiting his input to wacky aftereffects.
@@Mordecai02 I'm fine with him not being particularly good at playing these types of games. But I personally don't want to watch that. This wasn't marketed as a funny, watch-me-fail-at-this-game type of video (there are channels specifically for that). It's marketed as a horror video focusing on the lore and creepiness of horror mods. It's hard to pay attention to that when I'm watching someone miss a pretty simple timed jump a dozen or more times.
If there is truly no way around the controller problem ..which I honestly doubt... He could play a 2D game instead until such time that a proper controller solution is found. Or, even easier, he could cut out many of his failed attempts. Maybe show him falling to his death once or twice and then move on? Or option 3, put something in the title letting viewers know that this video is more about his failing than about the game. Hell, he could cut out most of his failed attempts and then, next video, post a long blooper real if he wanted, so I would at least know I could skip the outtakes if I wanted. There are a good number of possibilities here.
And I wasn't trying to dissect this video in depth. My first comment was two sentences, and I lol'd in it pretty lightheartedly. The only reason I'm going into this level of detail is to respond to you. I'm not upset about the video. But yeah I also didn't love the video at the same time for the reasons I've stated. Obviously you liked it. Okay great, we agree to disagree. I may go watch another creator though if I know this is what I can expect with the Mario videos on this channel.

You might want to check out Lego Island analog horror I don't know the full story on it but I just found it on a random Channel named Soulym
it's a very strange and an unusual analog horror I don't know much about it I just watched it today they also use some AI voice for one of the characters but it fits it in really well you'll be shocked how much creativity it has it's also 12 videos of content I don't know if there's any secret ones

Gear certainly is bad at the game. Glad to see he doesn’t give up though. He should consider doing the dives after a jump for added distance and learning some other techniques. Also play regular mario 64 warm up in a much friendlier environment. You may find yourself absorbing skills better that way.
Also if you are using a keyboard i advise against it. Pressing more than 3 keys at once usually doesn’t work compared to a controller.

If you look at the painting there’s no time for them to get Mario at all, they already have, the headless Mario on the cake is the visual representation that Mario has died and that Peach is likely next in line.

a tip for long jumping, run, then crouch, and then jump. i have a feeling you're pressing crouch and jump at the same time which results in you ground pounding sometimes, as ground pounding is jump, and then crouch

I think the first and second hacks tie for the best ones. Mostly because there is a degree of challenge for them but the second one shown is probably the hardest especially the boss chase sequence. I can imagine that being difficult without cheats. Also the fact that these two hacks possibly have Peach as the villain.

Gearisko You literally look like the protagonist of Sonic.Exe So you better not look behind you because you're going to get a Mario plush with bloody eyes *HYPERREALISTIC* (for some strange reason, probably: creepypasta logic) and he's going to kill you with a machete (?).
And that viewers, is why we use save states. Can you imagine the unbearable hell if we didnt? Need to stop bad mouthing save sates used on playthroughs, specially with stuff like this. Alot of mod creators have save states in mind when designing these ROM Hacks!
