I made this yesterday when it went up. I had flour and made 12 smaller naan breads, came out great. For the filling I had to use a yellow onion and part of a jalapeno pepper and the last of my cilantro, what we call it in California. It was so amazing, hubby and I talked about it over and over las night and the first thing this morning he mentioned it. He is willing to go to the store for red onions and cilantro during our isolation so we can finish up our naan today. Thank you for an amazing recipe.
Looks so lovely! Chetna I have to tell you the story of how I came across you - I had gone to a party at a friend's and didn't know many people at all. I was sitting at their coffee table eating some snacks when I saw this book, which was the cardamon trail. I read through it, my friend came over and told me about the bakeoff show (had never watched it before) and said she had tried a few recipes and they were wonderful. Anyway went back home, started watching your videos and since then have made most of your recipes and gifted your books to many people I know! Totally love your cooking
Plain flour 300g Yogurt 2 tablespoons Sugar 1 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Yeast 1 sachet 140ml milk Combine mixture Knead with oil for 5 minutes Leave aside for 60-120 minutes Divide into 6 pieces Flatten with rolling pin Place in frying pan and cover Cook for 1-2 minutes
Lol hearing your sighs and confusion with ingredients is comforting knowing that you too are waiting patiently for your naan to be done. The satisfaction and pure thankfulness eating it makes it all worth while. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching, trying and cooking your food. Thank you.
Made this naan tonight! Recipe is easy and so delicious. I didn’t have yogurt, so used tzatziki sauce instead. I’ll definitely make this again. Thank you Chetna 🙏
So glad I found this! I am entertaining myself by watching the Great British Baking Show over and over so you all feel like old friends. I really enjoyed your positive and cheerful personality and loved your recipes. I will be sure to try this.
Greetings from Los Angeles! I agree with Linda - loved you on the Great British Baking Show and saw your RUclips vid one day. Thank you for keeping me entertained (and hungry) but learning new recipes. Can’t wait to try this one. 😋
I'm happy to see your family is healthy and doing well during this time. I had to share this with my daughter so she can make this simple recipe as well. Thank you for always making such delicious content.
Great naan recipe! I bake all types of bread and I plan on trying this recipe this weekend. Enjoy your recipes very much and have really enjoyed many of the dishes I have made after watching you.
Oh I am making this for dinner tonight. Please tell me if I am using AP regular flour then do I have to add any raising agents such as baking powder or baking soda? I ask because you used self rising flour and it would have these in it. Thank you for the many many DELICIOUS recipes . My household loves everything I make from you. ❤
Thank you for this recipe! My teen-aged daughter (among others!) is a naan freak. We are also big on fresh pizza dough making so we have a couple of pizza stones that we think will be great for naan bread. If I use this recipe and go with oven baked on a pizza stone, what would you recommend in terms of temperature, time, flip or not? Thank you for all these videos!
Kept seeing you in my recommended videos and I said "where do I know this person from? I've seen her before." After days of seeing the recommendation- it dawned on me- The British baking show! So happy for you. I have subscribed. Love from Boston, Massachusetts!
WOW! That didn't just look amazing, it made me so hungry I could smell the onions and coriander through my pc! Can't wait to try this next week, when I've been paid and gone shopping!
What a wonderful video and what beautiful surroundings you live amongst. I have recently been drawn towards Indian cuisine albeit I’m not able to eat anything too spicy. However, on purchasing your vegetarian cookbook and watching some of your wonderful RUclips videos I’m able to balance the ingredients to accommodate my soft English tummy. Thank you for your guidance and enthusiasm towards this creative, colourful and dynamic cuisine
It looks very tasty! Thank you so much for posting this! I have always wanted to make naan. I got onion, several types of flour, yogurt, some fresh and dried herbs, garlic, milk, butter, fresh cabbage, other vegetables and chicken. I gotta skip on the hot pepper, black pepper, bell pepper and anything with the word pepper in its name along with anything from a pig. Maybe I can make me some naan topped with vegetables and some cooked chicken meat! Ok, now I am hungry and I gotta eat!!!😊
Hi. Seeing you outside in sunshine and hearing sounds of gulls reminds me of the happiest times at the sea with my best friends. I like how you are showing your cooking with the flours that you already had in your pantry. Keeping it how it is. I purchased the cooking book of yours, Chetna’s healthy Indian.Love the stories about your mother buying at the market. Very enjoyable. Be well. 🐞 Stacy
okay, as you like to hear from your viewers, I'll just tell you that I will try the naan asap and that I watch your recipes every day and immensely enjoy your authentic and heartwarming way to present all your recipes thank you so much 😄
I can’t wait to make this one question what is the name of the green pepper and is it hot? Love ❤️ your channel just found it looking for a masala recipe
I intended to use this recipe with your multi vegetable curry tomorrow when my family arrives. However, I’m so hungry and this looks so tasty I’ve decided to have a bash today. I’ve got some chives from the garden a red onion and some garlic which I have finally chopped with a couple of drops of balsamic vinegar and melted butter as my topping.I honestly cannot see me eating junk food ever again after discovering your wonderful channel.
Hi Chetna the meal looks absolutely delicious. Even though you had to substitute the flour but it turned amazing. Will definitely try it. Also I didn't realize you could cook it in an ordinary frying pan. Thanking you so much for sharing. Please take care of yourself and family. Kindest regards Patricia
Chetna, I just subscribed, love your flat bread recipes and dinners, can't wait to try them! I only eat whole food plant based but I don't use as much salt or oil as you do. No problem I'll try and adjust the recipe to our taste. Thank you for so many good recipes and I like your personal touch on the videos. Stay safe.
Wow! I cannot beleive that you uploaded this recipe today because I was searching YT for a good one since yesterday. New subbie here...I made your curry chickpea stew and it was 😋 . Thank you for the time, effort, and details you put in your vidoes.
Your recipes are wonderful! Since discovering your site, we have made some truly delicious meals. We want to try all the receipes. Just wondering, where can one get a pan like the one you use to mix the chapati dough? Thank you very much!
Hey I would forget too. That looks delicious! I made some for the first time two weeks ago. Will try this version. I love this series and feel spoiled with all the great recipes to try. Thank you so much Chetna😋😄😄😄
I am just wondering do you use warm milk or cold milk for the naan bread as you do not mention it in the video. I would really appreciate it if you could please clarify this. I do enjoy cooking your recipe
I’ve made a couple of you’re recipes so far & I love them. Especially the chickpea curry. This will be my next one as sn as I can get the ingredients. Thank you Chetna :)))
Love your channel! You are a breath of fresh air, very funny, great cook , great recipes having a ball showing off making my flatbreads! and chickpea curry, goes lovely together, little side note, I am diabetic and your bread is one of the few things that does NOT spike my bloods, thank you is almost 9 months without bread! 😁😁 Not anymore!!
Glad you have some beautiful to enjoy the morning! Looks delicious! One good thing about currently staying home is I am saying hello to neighbors I have never seen. From a distance, of course! Be safe.
I know it's a lighthearted quip - but the London area is pretty dry. London has less rainfall than many European capitals and a lot less than many US cities such as NYC and Boston.
Chetna, you are a breath of fresh air...and you are gorgeous too 😍 Thank you so much for bringing your sunshine, smile, and fabulous recipes to us at this very difficult time. Sending much love to you and your family 🙏🥰
Another fabulous video... keep them coming.... there is nothing in comparison to punjabi cooking! How about your next video in punjabi for a laugh?? Or even a mixture of both English and punjabi... Gun the atta Pun the handi...🤣🤣🤣
I'm going to be making a bit of a feast tomorrow evening. Starting with your onion pakoras. A curry & a side of bombay potatoes, jeera basmati rice & a few pickles. Possibly even do your other quick flat bread recipe.
In the fridge they will keep for 3-4 days and reheat properly. I dont freeze any cooked food so I am not an expert there, but I would think it would be ok to freeze them.
Hi Chetna, thank you for the recipe! I was looking for a naan recipe on you channel yesterday morning, what a coincidence! Gonna try it asap. Greetings from quarantined Greece!
If I had some spinach that looks like your coriander, and I wanted to add it to the onions, what - if any - additional spices would you suggest? Thanks. Great cookbooks, by the way. Oh, and maybe a Floyd Cardoz inspired recipe?
You are an inspiration, dear Chetna! I have always been intimidated to cook Indian food, because of the complex layering of flavors. Your videos/recipes have got me cooking all kinds of delicious things. I'm even experimenting with flavors on my own. Thank you!
Hi Chetna.❣ You made fantastic, delicious naan bread. Looks fenomenal, very appetizing😋. You are my inspiration my dear.🌹 For sure I make it. Wish you a lovely and happy day and take care in this global pandemic. 🤩
A quick question: at 2:55 you say to knead the dough for 45 minutes. Does that mean you are continuously kneading it for 45 minutes? That seems like a lot.... Thanks so much for the wonderful cooking lesson! :)
I have chronic pain in my hands, so I can’t knead for long. Can I use my stand mixer? I’m totally into trying to learn naan now and today am actually trying a sourdough recipe. Would your five-minute flatbread be a better option?
Love homemade flatbread, naan not tried them by putting the lid on the pan though. Like the onions too especially for using up coriander, it comes in such a big bunch always waste a little, thankfully no more 👍

if using plain flour you need to add 1 tsp baking powder to every 100 gms plain flour
Thank you, Chetna. I will make it. Can you tell me if you have made a broth with your veg scraps?

Hi Lisa
She meant to knead it for 4 to 5 minutes .
Stunning 😋
Very nice recipe
If i want to make naan at night can i k eas the atta in the aftwrnoon otself ?
Do i need to keep it in fridge or not ?
I was distressed when I misheard "knead for four to five minutes" as "knead for forty five minutes". I need to work on my critical thinking.
haha
I have chronic pain in my hands, so I can’t knead for long. Can I use my stand mixer? I’m totally into trying to learn naan now and today am actually trying a sourdough recipe. Would your five-minute flatbread be a better option?
