When you set vertical plumb by adding washers take the extra time to remove the rail to put the washer on the bolt to ensure they will not work their way out and leave you with a loose hand rail
I can't find any 6' long 4x4 steel posts with base plates anywhere. I need to fix the posts to my driveway for a double-swing wooden gate that I'm building
Thanks for this! My Vevor railing came with NO instructions and I wasn’t even clear which direction the bolts went. Total amateur here. Now a little enlightened.
I agree that it's a little much to buy a new and expensive hammer drill. I used my little Sears Craftsman with a hammer function, while a little harder it still worked. Many homeowners have this smaller type of drill for all sorts of household jobs. You may also be able to borrow one or rent one cheap at Home Depot or other places. You also need a 5/16 masonry bit but other than that no special tools are required!
I need to undo the round screws that have a hexagonal interior with a 5/16" x 2.5 " sleeve anchor. The ones I have at home do not fit inside the screws. Are these sleeve anchors available jn different sizes? Im afraid the man doing tbese rails wont be able to loosen the screws if I cant find the proper tool to unscrew them.
Amy r I hope you fixed your problem. Always take clear pictures of your project with you to your hardware store when your seeking advice. You will save yourself a lot of time and money.

Jason Carnley Definitely rent terribly expensive tools that you are going to use once in a while from your local hardware store!
