3GI’s smash bros tournament 4 behind the scenes honestly that video was my childhood since it was the first live action smash video I’ve seen, sad to see it’s not available anymore but I can give details on what it was like The BTS featured a scene when the Pikachu mascot costume shot Rosalina with a taser gun being painfully removed from the actors body, small amount of blood was shown. another scene featured when the dog ran away from one of Mega mans attacks, the producer (I think) got a phone call about a missing dog with a red hat on its head (who was dressed as Rush) one scene featured the Doc Louis bloopers, I believe the Rosalina scene and Doc Louis scene were the reason it was deleted since it unfortunately featured blackface. one small scene features the Charmander costume dancing around with a spark in its mouth. and a scene of the final match, Mega man vs Shrek. when Mega man throws the mattress on Shrek after MM’s small pop off it is shown that the Shrek actor accidentally fell onto and crushed on glass shards but luckily didn’t get injured and that’s all that I can recall from the behind the scenes video. only clips partially available: the Rosalina taser removal scene can be seen in Smash bros tournament 5 before the fighters enter the ring The charmander dancing scene being at the end of Smash tournament 3

I like how popular lost media has gotten in the past several years. One piece of media at a time and eventually all sorts or cooky stuff could be accessible in the future. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of “lost memes”. As much as it would be funny to see I really do think that it could be an interesting subject to go into
Believe it or not there's actually good potential for something like this. Because of copyright issues, backups being lost, or the removal from the creators themselves, there's a lot of genuine internet culture history that's been lost. Arguably the most famous example is the complete deletion of the Machinima channel from youtube which has removed so much of the early youtube gaming era's memes and inside jokes. Moreover, there's a few minor viral videos that have had millions of views that have also been lost like the original Through The Fire And Flames parody that hasn't since been found.
Well, I know of a lost meme, the OCD otter. Most of the memes were taken down after the original photographer of the animal filed a lawsuit for unlawful use of copyrighted imagery.

For example, the Gameboy Color Pokemon games can be easily emulated, but the internal clock that maintains their calendar cycle can only work on the original consoles, which are slowly deteriorating and will soon be completely unplayable

Glad this channel exists! Here is another story of lost media for you: In the Vietnam War the US Army recorded all of it's data on a certain kind of computer tape. Basically the Army's information on the day to day operations of the entire Vietnam conflict is unreadable. I cannot personally confirm that this is true, but that's what I heard. Maybe someone else knows more. Format changes wipe out media, that is for sure. You mentioned silent movies. Something like 90% of them are lost! A lot of them were crap the day they were made, but they also had great geniuses back then, just as now or any other time. 90% of the movies from a twenty year period is a hell of a loss. Same thing happened with black and white movies when color came in. Good, bad, and terrific, they were scrapped. It has happened again with VHS tapes. Some movies can only be found on VHS! 7:45 just a nitpick. Walt Disney's Snow White is the first full-length feature CEL/HAND DRAWN animated film. The first Full feature animated film as a whole is The Adventures of Prince Achmed by German animator Lotte Reiniger from 1926 which uses paper cutouts and runs to 65 minutes. Disney LOVES redirecting people away from this and often use deceptive language to try and keep hold of that title of "first" by using quantifiers or conveniently using "DISNEY'S first full length feature." The Spiderman 4 and Shrek 5 had me dying at the end. But serious note, imagine if the lost 18.5 min was about Nixon funding the war on drugs or some CIA assasination attempts or something
Loved this video so much, as someone who studies history and is probably going into archival/museum studies, this really shows the importance of archival especially in the modern day. Like there are no excuses now for people not to archive important pieces of media.
6:36 Just an interesting fact: the recording of Rutherford B. Hayes also is believed to be lost. The earliest known surviving recording of a president talking is of Benjamin Harrison. Due to the degredation of the audio, it sounds like something recorded in hell itself. Here is a fascinating video containing the audio of Harrison (among every president after him): ruclips.net/video/GUZSlXPosmk/видео.html
Massive props to you for not showing any clips of "Birth of a Nation." It's the little things you put in your videos that make me really appreciate them :)
This NEEDS a part two! A good candidate if you were going to do a part two is the lost recording of Rutherford B. Hayes giving a speech, first recording of a president, but the recording cylinder was lost. It’s sad we will never get to hear the voice of the most uninteresting person to have ever been in charge of anything ever.
Why do I get the feeling for the Lincoln one, the reporters just didn't want to write the entire speech because it was so long? Publisher: I paid you to get the speech and you come back with NOTHING?! Reporter: Uuh, no! I was....uh, OVERTAKEN by how BEAUTIFUL the speech was that my mere penmanship could not capture the strength it produced! You had to be within the crowd to understand the TRUE fires of passion of what-! Publisher: Get out.
The remastered Moon landing footage from Apollo 11 was in the 2018 documentary is enough for me. We saw how the footage looked in the Mission Control room in Houston and we know that the signal was pretty bad and people at homes couldn't see the footage clearly so it's probably the cleanest this footage ever looked.
Despite the negative history of Birth of a Nation, ALL films, no matter how disgraceful, should be preserved. Erasing the past is just asking for history to repeat itself
that is very important! it’s very important to preserve racist history to show how racist the world was at one point! getting rid of that then creates more problems, also his whole “showing black leaders” thing was extremely pandering and i could see right through the facade he was putting on
i think it is ironic to say the birth of a nation is incredibly important in history despite being horrific and then dont show any of it, without proper acknowledgement which yes, includes sometimes having to SEE it, will just cause history to repeat.
Could you do a second video on lost pieces of literature? I got some ideas for you: - "Love's Labour Won" by William Shakespeare: a lost Shakespeare play that was a sequal to the romantic comedy "Love's Labour Lost". - "The Isle of Dogs" by Ben Johnson: a lost satrie play from Elizabethan, England that was banned due to insulting Queen Elizabeth I and members of her royal court. - "The Annals of the Kings of Israel" and "The Annals of the Kings of Judah": two lost books quoted by the Old Testament that served as source material for the biblical "First Book of Kings" and "Second Book of Kings". - "The History of Egypt" by Manetho: Manetho was an ancient Egyptian historian who recorded the history of the pharaohs; his original text is lost but he is used as a source by other ancient historians. - "Q source": the theorized original source of the Gospels and supposedly based on the original teachings of Jesus. - The lost plays of the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles.

I'm so incredibly thankful that NFL Films stitched together the first Super Bowl. That's just far too iconic of an event to not preserve. I was so hyped when they announced that they were airing it on NFL Network in 2016. I believe that they aired it because they were airing every single Super Bowl in the lead up to that years Super Bowl.
I wanted to thank you for talking about the Abbey Road special since it is surprisingly not talked about much in the fandom. I hope this will make the search just a little bit easier.
Tbh a lot of our history is heavily lost films, games, toys, writings, etc. As i tried so much to look it up and buy stuff from the past it’s hard ngl as it’s either gone for good he my own art i made is lost or gone forever so anyone who found and has my paintings and drawings from my childhood your lucky got a once in a life time piece.
Do you know what is up about the 80's seasons of Saturday Night Live? I've read that they've never been available for any kind of home release / streaming until Peacock, but even then some of the episodes are only nine minutes long on Peacock. I think all of the episodes are (illegally) preserved by some magic, but why it be like that??
You should cover historical lost media more because there’s a lot, one of my favorite pieces that I’m beginning to search for is the Appeal of June 18th. It was a speech given by Charles de Gaulle to occupied France calling for the people to join him and resist the German occupation, however the BBC didn’t deem it important enough to record and all we have is the transcript with some minor changes to it. It’s unlikely it’l turn up but a part of me hopes I can hear de Gaulles famous and inspiring speech!

So I know it's not too important and probably is gone for good, but a good chunk of John Laurens' letters to Alexander Hamilton are missing, as well as (*i think*) all of Elizabeth Schuyler's letters to Hamilton as well. It probably wasn't much that they wrote since Hamilton said in letters to the two of them that they didn't write back much, but its still fascinating to me imo
You could do a segment on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade broadcasts. All but one are lost from 1946 to 1971. RUclips has the entire 1959 broadcast. I don't know how that was even found, considering that video recording software wasn't invented until 1971. However, the 1982 broadcast is considered to be the holy grail yet to be found. RUclips has some clips as well as 15 minute clips taken from the 1927 to 1929 parades. I just find it interesting....

Would you do media that may have never existed but has been said to exist by people?
That would be called "Existence Unconfirmed" media!
Go for a punch, aka the suicide bathroom anime. Almost 0 proof of its existence, but it still has a strong search
@@highadmiraljt5853 it never did exist, jr was made on redit as a joke
the evil farming game
He did a video on it 5 days ago, so if you still care after 9 months go to his recent videos lol.
Another piece of historical lost media is the 1927 film Wings. It was the very first movie to win Best Picture and it went missing for decades until a copy was found in a French film archive in 1992.
I can totally see this channel getting alot more popular, keep up with the good work
If there's more "Historical" Lost Media worth covering, I'd love to see a sequel in the future - you've earned my subscription!
Happy ypu got a sponsor.
Your channel is great!
12:50 Those who don't know, Claudette Colvin was the first woman that was arrested for illegally sitting on the bus, not Rosa Parks. She didn't gain any publicity because Rosa was afraid the media will catch on and Claudette would get into a lot of trouble.
Idea: Nonexistent Pieces of Lost Media
That's a good one
Yes
Leisure Suit Larry 4 immediately comes to mind
like unconfirmed to had existed or confirmed to never have existed?
Saki Sanobashi/Go for a Punch immediately comes to mind but I’m not going to say they’re wasting their time, they’ve found so many other lost animes that wouldn’t have been found without it
How about Lost Software? There are bound to be old operating systems that can't be used be almost any means anymore.
I love the argument that the moon landing was fake. Did you know that it would have been more expensive back in the day to fake the moonlanding then it would to land on the moon.
Yeah, I heard about that on Adam Ruins Everything. Man, the things people will believe.
Also, there’s no way the Soviet Union would have kept something like that a secret during the Cold War.
The Spiderman 4 and Shrek 5 had me dying at the end. But serious note, imagine if the lost 18.5 min was about Nixon funding the war on drugs or some CIA assasination attempts or something
Man, your videos are very good, a greeting from Brazil :)
I like seeing how you dive into lost media of all kinds, not ones that have been done over and over again. Keep it up :)
Loved this video so much, as someone who studies history and is probably going into archival/museum studies, this really shows the importance of archival especially in the modern day. Like there are no excuses now for people not to archive important pieces of media.
Love this. Maybe do one on “Most controversial Lost Media”
6:36 Just an interesting fact: the recording of Rutherford B. Hayes also is believed to be lost. The earliest known surviving recording of a president talking is of Benjamin Harrison. Due to the degredation of the audio, it sounds like something recorded in hell itself. Here is a fascinating video containing the audio of Harrison (among every president after him):
ruclips.net/video/GUZSlXPosmk/видео.html
Something that interests me a lot is Cambodia’s lost history. It’s crazy how an entire country’s history and culture can be wiped out like that.
Massive props to you for not showing any clips of "Birth of a Nation." It's the little things you put in your videos that make me really appreciate them :)
Already becoming a must watch youtuber for me
This NEEDS a part two!
This channel is pure gold.
Congrats on your first Sponsor!
Idea: *Pokémon Lost Media*
Done to death. About everyone you know has done it
@@ShadowProductionsXD Ok, I’ll change it to Pokémon Lost Media
@@ShadowProductionsXD Since I changed it to Pokémon Lost Media, I was wondering if Pokémon Live can be found
@@purr-fectcatstudios5195 What was your original idea?
@@blushchuu Lost or Cancelled Movies, but I think it’s probably outdated already because there’s a lot videos talking about it
Despite the negative history of Birth of a Nation, ALL films, no matter how disgraceful, should be preserved. Erasing the past is just asking for history to repeat itself
that is very important! it’s very important to preserve racist history to show how racist the world was at one point! getting rid of that then creates more problems, also his whole “showing black leaders” thing was extremely pandering and i could see right through the facade he was putting on
Hey, you not showing those clips from Birth of a Nation and doing what you did was thoughtful and good!
Lost paintings (those lost during ww2, garden heist ect) and lost treasures (the amber room, ireland's crown jewels, the florentine diamond, ect)?
Ireland's crown jewels would be a great one, they seem so little known, and those paintings lost in the sinking of the Lusitania etc
Weren’t many fossils also destroyed? I consider that a lost treasure
two of my favourite things mixed into 1: lost media & history 🥺
Thank you for the Ringo dance
How about Lost Pieces of Media due to being Banned?
Not sure when you got to 40k subs but congrats man you deserve it.
i think it is ironic to say the birth of a nation is incredibly important in history despite being horrific and then dont show any of it, without proper acknowledgement which yes, includes sometimes having to SEE it, will just cause history to repeat.
I'd definitely love to see a video about lost Cartoon Network or lost Nickelodeon shows. You're doing great Mike!
Nice idea, I would love to see the same.
@@deepdevour2998 same
Could you do a second video on lost pieces of literature? I got some ideas for you:
- "Love's Labour Won" by William Shakespeare: a lost Shakespeare play that was a sequal to the romantic comedy "Love's Labour Lost".
Oh my God I'm addicted to this channel now...and coffee. Gotta have my Pops.
7:45 a little note, Snow white is infact not the first feature length animated film, that right goes to another piece of lost media called The Apostle
Just discovered your channel. I really enjoy these videos, you do incredible work.
My suggestion would be lost Saturday Night Live sketches/musical performances. There are a lot of great mythical moments on SNL that you can’t find videos of. I’m sure they aren’t truly lost. But not made public for various reasons.
In any case, keep up the great work.
Yay, a new video
And he got a sponsor!
You dont, but i do.
I love how you showed a clip from the wkuk lincoln skit 😂 now you fded up now you fded up, you have fded up now
Awesome video as usual!
As for a suggestion (though I'm sure others have said it): Lost Photos?
The descriptions of Lincoln's lost speech are like a laundry list of buzz words 🤣
The Beatles lost media list it's big af
Wow Mike, you’ve become a bigger hit in Lost Media than most people realized. Amazing video. I especially love the casual but memorable “Oh, hi there.” Keep up the awesome work!
Also 7:03 I saw the band name Joy Division. Love that band, they are now known as New Order!
you should do a compilation of your old videos thats like a hour - 2 hours , you have a soothing voice bruh I could go to sleep to that
nice how you handled the Birth of a Nation part 👍🏽
keep up the good work
Your videos are always so high quality and you have a real talent for finding and presenting information that hasn't been reused over and over again!
An idea: Lost hijacked recordings. Because of their random nature, a lot of signal hijacks weren't caught on tape. It might be interesting to see what you can dig up about it
I'm so incredibly thankful that NFL Films stitched together the first Super Bowl. That's just far too iconic of an event to not preserve. I was so hyped when they announced that they were airing it on NFL Network in 2016. I believe that they aired it because they were airing every single Super Bowl in the lead up to that years Super Bowl.
*Lincoln done his speech*
That one guy:”Can you repeat that again?”
@12:50 - big respect for that, great viewpoint
It was very nice and thoughtful of you to include pictures and videos of black figures instead of clips from The Birth of a Nation!!
Your channel is definitely interesting to check out, I like lost media and your channel has one of the best videos on lost media
I wanted to thank you for talking about the Abbey Road special since it is surprisingly not talked about much in the fandom. I hope this will make the search just a little bit easier.
Man, this show is the shit. I'm so glad you got a sponsor. Keep it up, mate.
This was great, I would love to see another historical lost media video in the future!
Dude, if it turns out that we actually have a recording of Abraham Lincoln, especially of that one speech... that'd be CRAZY!
This was really great!
Could you do one specifically about media or other items lost in natural disasters (fires, floods, etc.)?
5:30 The someone who put that in Rock Band is me, allow me to use this plug to say I really like your videos, and I was quite surprised to see this one of all the songs I've done in the game in a random video about lost media 😎
It’s just nice that you’re unproblematic in the sense that you recognize the issue of showing racist imagery and are proactive in distancing your channel from it. Thank you.
I mean I don’t think anyone wants to NOT distance their channels from that haha
Cringe white woman moment
@@alexfc679 I’m black.
Id love to see an episode about lost film scenes or lost original cuts of films. Also a video or part of a video about the lost game "professor layton and the mansion of the deathly mirror" which is barely documented on RUclips at all. I love your channel man, keep up the good work! :)

This reminds me of the INBA Cinemateca Nacional burning in Mexico City in late 70 I believe. There was a lot of silent Mexican movies, a lot of paintings too and important books, a lot of culture was sadly burnt and the only video recording in a documentary form of the 68 Tlatelolco incident
The story about the Lincoln speech is very funny to me. Like what the people said feels straight out of Monty Python
Respect for not showing any "The birth of a nation" footage.
New favorite channel fr, keep up the amazing work man I always look forward to your uploads :)
i love your videos hope you get bigger
I'd like to see a LostMedia episode regarding Pokemon, for example mentioning the "Pokemon Live" DVDs that were meant to be released, but cancelled.
And the anime 1998 new year special that Aired once in japan
So I know it's not too important and probably is gone for good, but a good chunk of John Laurens' letters to Alexander Hamilton are missing, as well as (*i think*) all of Elizabeth Schuyler's letters to Hamilton as well. It probably wasn't much that they wrote since Hamilton said in letters to the two of them that they didn't write back much, but its still fascinating to me imo
Let us get this gentleman to 100,000 for his dedication in teaching us in the world of Lost Media!
